Each of Kaplan's characters seeks comfort of some sort. A tomboy wants the comfort of acceptance in her father's hunting group. A young widower tries to show his daughter the relief in mourning. And in the title story, an uneasy comfort is found in the knowledge of infidelity.
I only read "Doe Season" for my English Class, but there is so much potential for the interpretation of Andy's change in character throughout the story. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
