Gabrielle Craig Lord is an Australian writer who has been described as Australia's first lady of crime.

She survived being ‘razed’ by the nuns, acquired an education despite this, and after working in many different areas, sales, teaching, brick-cleaning, peach-picking and packing, and in the Public Service as an employment officer, started writing seriously aged 30.

Her first two manuscripts ended up composting the tomatoes at her market garden – another attempt to make a living – but the third one FORTRESS was picked up internationally and made into a feature film starring Rachel Ward. A later novel WHIPPING BOY was made into a telemovie starring Sigrid Thornton. The film rights money, coinciding with her daughter leaving school, allowed Gabrielle to resign and instead of getting up at 4.30am and writing for several hours before heading off for work, she could write full-time and lead a more ‘normal’ writer’s life – hanging around with scientists and detectives, badgering forensic anthropologists (she studied some Anatomy at Sydney university) and doing work experience with a busy private security business and of course, writing.

Research is everything, she says. ‘Out of my contacts with experts (who are always far too modest to describe themselves that way) I get not only the fine-tuning necessary for today’s savvy readers, but also wonderful incidents and images that enrich and enlarge my books.’

Gabrielle’s interests are very simple. ‘After a misspent youth, I don’t have many brain cells left so I enjoy walking, meditation, singing, gardening, chatting with close friends, being with my family and grandkids, feeding my goldfish and keeping up to date with bodywork and enlightened psychotherapy.’

Gabrielle has now written fourteen adult novels and a novel for young adults. Once the 12 books of Conspiracy 365 are completed, this tally will be a tad bigger! Following this mammoth endeavour she already has plans for another three adult novels and two more YAs.

I admit that I really don't read a ton of YA. This isn't a condescension. I find that in an effort to minimize reality, that reality is actually minimized. I admit am just a literal reality reader. I like escapes, not escapism. I (respectably) cannot read either escape or thematic material that disregards minimal reality and/or logical outcomes. I am three books into this series and I am getting everything I thought that the editorial YA genre has pushed out. I just have to put this down every 5 to 10 pages. Every chapter is equivalent of an adult theme action escape. Without the gratuitous. 14yo, and good adventure reading skills, is a recommended audience, imo. It begins just a simple plot, but every action leads to an entire chain of realistic consequences. I am really just so impressed at the entire engagement of this series.

This book is about a boy called Callum trying to track down and work out what the Ormond Singularity is. My favourite of the story is at the end when everyone like Rafe Ormond, Eric Blair, Nelson Sharkey and Winter, Cal, and Boges are all double crossing each other. My favourite character is Callum because he shows that even though you are a teen fugitive, being chased by everyone from major criminals, ex-detectives, police and his own family, while his friends are the only people he can trust.

When all things prove to fail, it can always be worse.

This novel Conspiracy 365 was written by Gabrielle Lord it was published in 2010 at the same time of year there was an earthquake in Haiti killing 230,000 people. This book begins at a town in America with a young man named Callum. This young man had an average family with a mother, father and a sister, until one day his father goes to Ireland for a major business meeting. This then results in his dad catching a disease which stopped him from saying anything. This meant that he could only draw. While Callum’s father was still sick in Ireland Callum’s family was anxious for him, since he had a large risk of dying. Later on, his dad dies, and the only thing that is left behind are the drawings that his father drew. These drawings were very precious to Cal because it was the last thing his dad did during the time he was living. A while after the unfortunate event an irrational man came up to Cal and told him you have 365 days to live. Then two books in the series pass. He is chased by one of the highest gangs in America, one of their associates is called the Red Sweater. The Red Sweater was chasing Cal and then hides under train tracks, but a train comes along and nearly kill Cal, but he is rescued by a street person named Repro. Repro lives in a remote hideout next to the train tracks. He is then trapped in the lab of a very wealthy and famous gangster called Sligo. That trapped Cal in a lab when later on a snake bit him, Cal then found an antivenom and used it. Cal’s sister and uncle are both assaulted which leaves Gabi Cal’s sister in a comma. He then moves away from Repro and moves to the old forbidden house that he used to live in when he first went on the run. His best friend Boggs got into a fight with Winter in Cal’s old house. Cal and Repro then went to Oriana's house to try and steal the riddle, and successfully took it. Cal then hitches hikes a ride to his uncle in MT Helicon with a truck driver named Lachlan; they were then followed by an SUV that stayed on their tail until they started bashing into each other. A while later the SUV hit Lachlan's truck so hard it flipped it over which left Lachlan unconscious. Cal got out of the car and tried to pull Lachlan out of the car but the vehicle’s weight was on his arm, he couldn't lift the truck up. Including the fact that Cal had to hold Lachlan’s head from the water. If he disappeared into the bushes, Lachlan would die, but if he eventually woke up, the Riddle would be in Sligo hands. Cal then decides that he couldn't leave Lachlan alone, so he waited there for him to wake up and Sligo to come and get him.

One of my favourite characters is Boggs. Boggs is such a satisfactory man because he is willing to give his time for to help his friend that he knows did not commit a crime. Doing this Callum knows he owes something to Boggs. Boggs is always the person that supplies Cal with the money and food supply he needs. Without Boggs Cal would have been caught in the first three days.

During this book, there were many different experiences and joys. One of my favourite parts was when Cal had to decide whether to save Lachlan or let him die in the countryside. The reason I loved this part was that of how thrilling it was to find out that he would stay and help Lachlan instead of finding the meaning to the riddle. One of my least favourite parts was when he was stuck in the lab and got bit by a snake. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes adventures books. This book shows creativity and fun during Cal's amazing adventures.

Conspiracy 365 March
The book that I read is Conspiracy 365 March. The author of my book is Gabrielle Lord, she has written other books such as, Feeding the Demons and Death Delights. The lexile level of my book is 820. In my book the main character, Calum Ormond, is a wanted criminal while he also is being chased by a gang of criminals who are wanting a family secret that he is also trying to find out before the gangs can find out and he is against almost everyone in the book.

In the book I think that the theme is to stay humble and true to who you are and that you should always try and power through whatever life throws at you and along with that to never give up on what you believe in. I think that Calum (the main character) has really learned this lesson through his journey and what he has had to go through and he keeps persisting and doesn’t turn himself in and keeps going to try and find out the Ormond Riddle before the criminals find out the true meaning of the riddle. I think that all the things that have been thrown at Calum in this book is really important to the whole book and he really learns a lot of valuable skills in order to survive in this life style.

In my opinion, this book could keep me reading for hours and not bore me. I am saying that this is a book that really gets me attached and this is the only book in a while that has been able to do that. In the earlier books in the series, I felt that it was too predictable and easy to see what was going to happen before it really happened, but in this book I really couldn’t predict what was going to happen and the climax had me guessing a lot of things and none of my predictions were correct as I thought they would be because of the previous books. In my opinion, another reason I like this book is because I cannot relate to it. Usually this would not be a good thing but in a way, this book does it in a good way because in that way they make it harder to predict what Calum is thinking in the situations he is going through and how he will have to think very carefully before making every decision or it could cost him his life. I think that this is (so far) the best book in the series because I think Gabrielle Lord realised the mistake she made that the book was predictable, and in this book she made it a lot better by fixing those previous mistakes and made this book a lot more enjoyable by doing that.

Some unavoidable spoilers for January and February contained within this review.

Cal is about to be hit by a subway train when we last saw him in February. He is miraculously saved - of course! - by a homeless and fellow criminal named Repro who stitches up his wounds and provides a shelter to sleep under for a few days. After that Cal is back in the game with more houses to break into, clues to solve and close encounters with policemen, railway inspectors, Red Singlet and we finally get to meet Jennifer Smith.

This series is just getting worse and worse... and I am only three books into a seventeen part series. How many different ways can Cal narrowly avoid death? Its getting old pretty fast. But of course, I will keep reading the series just to see how the DMO turns out.

There isn't really much more to say about the book. It was all pointless. They was barely any advance in the mysteries of the Ormonds and the characters haven't developed an ounce since January, especially Cal. He is becoming so gullible. [He goes and visits Jennifer Smith. I mean that says it all. Does he not get how every time she wants to meet him bad stuff happens? Even if she doesn't turn out to be a "baddie" she is still not worth the risk buddy. Kidnapping. Oil. Lion. Snake. Do those words mean nothing to him? Seriously!

(hide spoiler)]

I am very disappointed with this series. It's an intriguing mystery with great potential, but all of the potential is going down the drain soon, unless something drastic happens. I'm not too enthused to read April now, but lets see how Cal manages to save the driver from drowning and not get caught by Red Singlet and his cronies.

Conspiracy 365 March is the third book in the series of conspiracy 365 by Gabrielle Lord. March is about a fifteen year old boy Callum Ormond who is on the run. He is getting chased by the police, two criminal groups and his own uncle. There is a huge secret in Cal’s family that will make history, and make the Ormond family extremely rich. In March Cal has 306 days to survive and work out his family’s secret. Cal is trapped on a train line with a train coming he finally gives up. Is he about to lose his life??

In my personal opinion I really liked this book I just think it was fantastic. The parts about the book that I personally loved the most is when Callum Ormond uncovers secrets and lots of other mystery's about his father. I loved the action in the book. All of the time Cal was chased by criminal gangs and he still manages to get away which just leaves me off the Edge of my seat.

I recommend this book to all of the kids in middle school and above. I think this because that kids our age love these type of books and how the conflict of the story go's on and on which makes other kids want to read the other the next book. I give this book a 5/5 star rating.

Ok, beware of very mild spoilers: Great book, short and sharp, great continuation from the last 2 books. We are introduced to new characters and behaviour patterns from the criminal gangs and supposed friends that he meets along the way. As this series continues, Callum Ormond has three things on his mind, the cops, the gangs after him, and the trusting of friends he has made. I will not go into further detail on the characters, due to spoilers, but I definitely recommend this book to anyone, and enjoy the Good Read. Get the pun? :)

Conspiracy 365 March by Gabrielle Lord is about a boy named Cal who is on the run. He is trying to solve a family riddle left behind by his deceased dad. Thanks to his friend Boges who has been by his side helping throughout, without him he would be in prison. Meeting friends and enemies along the way some are there to help but others are the ones out to get him. The parts of the riddle that have been separated seem to be the main objective of the enemies and Cal.

In my opinion the books are very well written and creative. I feel like I am in the book beside Cal and his friends. My curiosity about how he solves the riddle makes me continue to read the series. Every book ends with a cliff hanger so the readers will have to get the next book to find out what happens next.

My rating of this book is an 8.5 out of 10. I would recommend this book to people who like the series and like action and good descriptive writing.

Not as much of a cliff-hanger ending this time.
"Let's see...how much can we make one character go through?" This series is the epitome of that phrase.

This one was more of a "rest" and "recover" before having to hit the ground running again. I was wondering whether Boges and Winter would cross paths and how that would work.

At the same time, GEEZ, can't you give the kid a break? Finding the actual Riddle is kind of one, but I mean like an ACTUAL SAFE PLACE for him to EAT and clean up?

If you want something fast paced and quick to read then you can do a lot worse than this series. Ignore the unlikely situations Cal finds himself in, the amazing luck he has avoiding certain capture or even death and just enjoy the ride. Each book is only a few hours read and the inevitable cliff-hangers at the end will have you reaching for the next.

Another great addition to the Conspiracy 365 series. I love how easy these books are to read. I'm reading this series with my 12 year old and she's loving it. It's easy for her to follow along and we're loving all the action!

Definitely a great book. Very thrilling and interesting. Callum is framed for attempted murder. So he is being hunted by the police and some big time criminals are hunting him down too. So he is always running for his life and is trying to solve a family mystery.

1 - read in order,
2 - there is a reminder of what happened last month at the beginning,
3 - fast-paced,
4 - ends in the middle of something exciting going on. You will want to jump from one Book right into the next.

Seems similar to 39 Clues though I think (if I remember right) that the kids were younger in that book. This one is better because it is all written by the same author. 39 Clues began to feel like it wasn’t thought out much ahead of time because of the authors thing. I never finished it because I started reading before all the books had been published...

Exposition: Callum Ormond wakes up and to him it's a normal day, but what he doesn't realize is that its about to get a lot weirder. Callum is at the park with his best friend Boges when they have to go home, Callum is on his way home when an old man tells him he has 365 to survive or he'll end up like his father. Callum's father died from some weird sickness after being at Ireland looking for history on their family, he tells Callum in a letter that he had found something about their family that could change their lives, and that it was so dangerous he couldn't even tell him the whole thing in a letter. Callum couldn't wait for his dad to come back to hear the news about their family, but when he got back he became so ill he couldn't even speak.
Rising Action: "My name is Callum Ormond and I am a wanted fugitive." Callum is on the run, after finding out about more of what his father had learned about their family he had started getting watched by people, bad people, these people wanted to hurt Callum and find out the mystery that lies behind the Ormond name. After finding out about a lot of what his dad had Callum got framed for attempted murder he is on the run now staying away from the people who want to kill him and the police. After his sister and uncle were almost killed his uncle is fine but his sister is in a coma, his mom and uncle believe it was Callum because apparently his uncle had heard him yelling at his sister and she was crying. Callum believes that his uncle knows something and doesn't want Callum to explore further.
Rising Action: Callum is on the run from two people one named Vulkan Slingo who tried to kill him in an oil tank after claiming he didn't know anything about his fathers secret and by a girl named Oriana who kidnaps him after he tries to meet up with one of his dads doctors. Callum doesn't know if he can trust his dads doctor if that's even who she claims to be, because every time he tries to meet up with her something goes wrong.
Rising Action: Callum knows things about his dead father which must be important if people are willing to kill him for the information. Callum found the information that his father had, about the Ormond Riddle, and the Ormond Singularity. They are very important in this whole mystery because apparently they lead to some secret treasure or something Callum needs to find out this mystery before someone else does, he doesn't want to see it fall into the wrong hands whatever it is.
Climax: Callum got away from the two criminals that tried to kill him but he doesn't know if there will be more. Callum is always alert of his surroundings, like when he felt someone was watching him and when he looked around he saw someone who looked like him. He is still trying to figure that one out but he can only do so much. He is very stressed about this whole situation because his family doesn't believe hes innocent, his father would but sadly hes gone and hes the one who got him into this mess.
Falling Action: Callum realizes after being chased down by both cops and criminals that he can only trust his friend Boges who helps him with food, money, and other supplies he needs. His family sadly don't trust or believe him so it is up to Boges to help him survive and stay hidden. Boges has been helping Callum with this whole mystery even if he does deny it when he talks to the police about it, he is the reason Callum has got this far.
Resolution: Callum has had many problems over these past few days but hes always got through them thanks to his friend Boges and the clues his father has given him before he died. Sometimes Callum gives up but then realizes another clue and remembers all thoughs things he has went through from getting attacked by a lion to being kidnapped, why stop now. Callum is doing just fine wherever he is,hes safe, still on the run, and looking for answers.
Callum changes from thinking everyone involved with this is crazy to strangely believing them.
Theme: In life we are often blamed for things we didn't do, like murder, and it gets us into trouble, big trouble.
I liked the mystery in this book, about how we don't know what will happen next.

How Could Things Possibly Get Worse for Cal?

I’m seeing a pattern in these books—they all end in a massive cliffhanger that’s meant to make you wonder “How is he possibly going to survive?” At the beginning of this book, I even wondered if there was some sort of supernatural/paranormal thing going on, but so far it’s been nothing but reality (albeit unbelievable reality). Cal is always getting himself into the craziest kind of trouble—sharks, gangs, lions, trains—and yet he keeps surviving. He’s determined to figure out the secret his father left behind for him, and also must figure out his mysterious doppelgänger that keeps appearing.

Once again, we’re hearing the story from Cal’s perspective in first person. It’s also set in past tense, which subtly tells you that he must survive by the end, seeing as he’s theoretically able to continue recording the story. It’s a narrative trick to set the book in present tense to heighten suspense, seeing as there’s no guarantee that the narrating character will survive past the end of the story.

We continue following Cal. He has Boges, of course, but after Winter’s apparent betrayal at the end of book 2, he’s more wary of her. He meets a new ally in the aftermath of the train incident, and I’m excited to see where that goes. Jennifer Smith also makes a return, but after Cal misses their last two meetings, can he still expect her help?

I’m seeing a few more hints of romance later on in the story, but for the most part, Cal is making strong friendships and strong rivalries(?) with the people around him. Red Singlet, who’s been chasing him throughout the past few books, finally gets a name in this one, because he’s single-mindedly determined. Another one-scene character from back in book 1 gets to make a reappearance, which is exciting and peculiar; I’d love to see how the story unfolds.

The actions scenes continue to be stupendous; the target audience of this series would love reading disaster after disaster. For me, it’s getting a tiny bit repetitive. Yes, each incident is different, and they need to continue for the sake of the story, but some of the incidents seem so contrived. I suppose you could say that a fifteen-year-old wouldn’t have enough foresight to resolve most of these, but looking at it in hindsight is sometimes incredibly frustrating. Otherwise, the writing is good and the web of mysteries that Lord weaves continues to baffle (in an enticing way).

Preteen and young teen boys should definitely give this series a shot. Action lovers and thrill seekers would love it—but don’t try this at home, folks! Cal makes miraculous escapes and survives impossible situations using his plot armour and a little bit of outrageous luck. I’m sure regular people wouldn’t survive these stunts.
