Devil's Disciples MC #2

Devil's Protection

Rate this book
I knew better than to get involved with him.

He’s supposedly one of the most terrifying men in the MC. He’s also my best friend’s brother and therefore off limits. But I’ve been pining for him since I was a kid and no matter how hard I try to contain it, it never really goes away. When my world starts to fall apart and he shows up to rescue me, I have to do my best to keep the promise I made to myself to stay away. I didn’t realize how hard it would be once he decided to claim me.

She’s my little sister’s best friend.

She’s also ten years my junior. I’m not the right man for her, I’m not known for being gentle and soft. None of that changes the fact that I want her. But when she somehow ends up in trouble yet again, there’s only one person I trust to watch over her. I tried to keep my distance but I’m done playing pretend. She’s mine and I’ll set the world on fire to protect her.

Great story!!

This is the second book in this fascinating series and this is Reaper and Quinn's journey. This is a well written story which has emotions, humour, witty banter, family, friendships, suspense, twists, danger, challenges, and love which all leads to an entertaining, unpredictable, and thrilling addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

2.5 stars. I was looking forward to reading Quinn and Reaper's story after book 1, but unfortunately this one was disappointing. Quinn was the quiet, thoughtful one in the first book, whereas Riley and Allie were brash. In this book Quinn isn't just quiet, she's almost comatose. She lets EVERYONE take advantage of her. But we learn that she's actually been hiding her true self in order to make her alcoholic mother not get jealous and go on a bender. Makes sense? No it does not. Quinn doesn't do well in school, doesn't bring boys home to meet her mom and most importantly she doesn't let her mom know she's a super-duper dancer. (Her mom had aspirations of being a professional dancer but ended up stripping to make ends meet). If all this wasn't stupid enough, throw in the club drama with an obvious traitor, a lecherous boss, a crazy ex-boyfriend-stalker and Allie being an absolute BRAT 99% pretty much the entire book.

I liked Reaper but he seemed pretty dumb. Also, there was a weird scene when he first meets Quinn's mom. Quinn is clearly embarrassed by how her mom flirts with Reaper yet she doesn't want to send her into a drunken spiral so she doesn't admit she’s in a relationship with him. So what does Reaper do? Encourages the mom, winking at her etc. and then goads Quinn while she's making them all dinner until she becomes so pissed off she cuts her hand while chopping vegetables.

Quinn’s mom talking to Reaper -“I may be getting older but I still make pretty good money at the club. Lots of men like a woman with experience.” She was looking at me again and when I winked at her, she burst into giggles.

Reaper talking about Quinn’s mom -“She looks good. She hasn’t aged much. You two could be sisters.” The more I talked, the more irritated she seemed to get. I was trying not to laugh at this point. “Pretty sure she wanted me to help her get changed.” Dude, that’s not funny, it’s gross.

First half of the book is them avoiding each other, and Reaper and his fighting!

I don’t actually know where to start with this review. The first half of the book is Reaper/Zayne and his sister screaming at each other. Constantly!!! Reaper because of something that happened to Allie when she was a kid, controls her and won’t let her have freedom. Reaper really doesn’t come across well at first. As he thinks Quinn is a nice obedient girl, not like Allie. I’m not keen on Allie either as she’s always shouting and having tantrums. Quinn spends the first half of the book fighting her feelings for Reaper as she thinks it’s betraying Allie. So her and Reaper have sex then she avoids him like the plague.

In the second half of the book, Reaper comes across as a lot nicer. He also explains why he is so controlling with Allie. Quinn comes out of her shell and starts sticking up for herself. The mole is outed who is stealing their guns, and it’s not a surprise at all. The danger ramps up and it’s quite exciting in parts.

Reaper and Quinn

Quinn has been attracted to Reaper for a long while,, however its only when things get dicey with Riley did he start to notice her. Now a year on and she has a stalker, as well as her boss at the dinner is giving her grief. So when Reaper steps in she dosnt complain the only thing is that she hasnt told her best friend and Reapers sister Allie how she feels about her brother. She has a few secrets as well and when things blow up they really blow up with Quinn
Reaper is so hooked on Quinn, he dosnt care about what his sister thinks, but there are things going on in the club, they have a mole. Not to mention his sister is acting up once more.

These two definitely have alot going on and keeping themselfs save is alot harder than thought.... I loved these two, they certainly had it a bit hard but they are good.

DNF 😱😱

My new year's resolution was to finish every book no matter how bad. This is my 3rd that I DNF. It took me 3 days ( Yes, 3 DAYS!!!!) to reach pg 273. This book is beyond the worse of the 3.
The hero ( very questionable) is in his 30's, he likes sex, he like pain but man can he throw a hissy fit!!
Our heroine is 10yrs his junior but is basically a 10yr crying at the drop of a hat.
The writing is very juvenile. Sorry A.F but this book is most definitely not worth the read. I njoyed book 1 & was invested in the 3 friends & their stories but I most definitely will NOT be reading Allie's book 💚🇮🇪

Bad luck and dark knight in shining armor

Book 2 in Devils Disciples is about Zayne and Quinn, it is a best friends older brother story. The irony was not lost on me that 2 people that both would do anything to protect the people they love also got the same problem with communicating end up together. The drama between Zayne and his sister Allie, was a bit over the top, and I got a bit annoyed about Zayne/Reaper of his stupidity and arrogance but I guess it matched Quinn deep need to please everyone and hiding her true character. The chemistry between Zayne & Quinn was scorching hot, mixed with drama, angst and a bit of action it made an entertaining read.

Oh, I couldn't wait to dive into this book.

I wanted to read Reaper and Quinn's story, and I devoured this book. I loved the storyline, the banter, and the spice! 🥵

Quote that made me laugh:
“The fuck are you doin’?” I rolled my eyes. “What’s it look like?” He scowled. “It looks like my Sergeant at Arms has turned into a damn dish maid.'

A quote I loved:
“I love you, Zayne Merrick.”

I wish I could go to the beginning and read this book for the first time again.

like an SNL sketch by Pedro Pascal …

What do you wanna write today?
Like dunno whatdaha you wadda write today?
N’ like dunno let’s write like with tantrums and duh duh selective outrage and an Allie
Like an Allie to the club like a loyal associate ?
Ohhhhhhh like I dunno about that. … was a thinking more like a yadda yanna nada Yerba, long lost Khardashian sister who’s squirrel nut crazy, kinda like a kangaroo loose in the pasture, roof not nailed on real tight, nuttier than a nut festival outhouse turd kind of Allie. Ohhhhhh make her span several books

i was pretty excited for Quinn and Reaper’s story, but i feel like it fell flat of what it could have been. i wish the first book had a little more of a teaser of seeing something between them but it really didn’t. so i hoped that meant we would get more of that tension between between before they got together. but i just felt like there wasn’t enough. yeah, you hear about Quinn’s feelings, but it felt like Reaper’s feelings for her came out of nowhere. overall still enjoyed their story and of course i’ll read Allie’s story.

eh SPOILERS!!!!

The book was ok. But I expected more. I was expecting Reaper and Allie to have a talk, to clear up the issues between them. Quinn had no backbone!! Such a pushover. She could’ve been a better FMC if there was growth but there was none. And omgosh Allie. SMH. I dislike her so much. So childish. Selfish mean character!! I don’t think she can be redeemed. She was like this for both of her friends. I kept asking why did they want to be friends with her??!

Nice 2nd book to this series 💛

Loved the sweet story between an alpha biker and the girl who crushed on him for years. Reaper and Quinn were great characters. His sister Allow was a different story, I couldn't stand her! I know this is fiction, but bratty entitled people are a definite no for me. I know there will probably be a book about her and Knox, but I will be skipping that one.

Was so excited to read Reaper’s story after Riley and Croy but was disappointed. Seriously that seems to be a thing for the books I have read this past week. I’ve had such high expectations based of 1st books in new series and book 2 seems to fall flat. Too bad because I really enjoyed this author’s writing. Writing was awesome but storyline fell flat. Welp, maybe book 3 will be better 🤷‍♀️.

Great series

It is very hard to find a good, M C, romance balance. Montoya has done a very good job. She has developed characters that are believable likable and interesting backdrop of the hard gritty MC life makes the story moreendearing as the three friends attempt to tame alphas they love.

As good as the first

Great writing, great characters. Bikers being bikers. You had to feel for Quinn. Everytime she turns around...at least Reaper is there for her every time. I did wonder how a tough guy like him let the little swarmy dude get the drop on him though. True biker fashion, Montoya does it again.

Painful fmc

If there's a more annoying female, I've yet to read that story. The author tried to paint her as shy, having hidden her true nature, because of her mom's behaviour. However she comes across as a brash, immature, obnoxious brat. I had a hard time caring about her troubles and woes and skimmed the last half. Poor H..

Devil's Protection

I know suspected Wrecker as being the bad and thought he was the one stalking Quinn. I knew he had a chip on his shoulder, especially because of Reaper. Swear Quinn had the worst luck until Reaper came along. Allie is such a diva. Throws tantrums like a kid.

After a fantastic first book, it continues into the second. Action, passion, a little funny. Good storyline. I was happy to see Quinn come out of her self imposed shell of living for others. Great book!.

Reaper/Zayne & Quinn

This is the second book in the Devil’s Disciples MC Series. While I liked Reaper and Quinn together, I hate the trend of miscommunication between characters and Reapers sister Allie, just makes me want to scream.

I enjoyed this book slightly more than the first in this series but only slightly. Same issue where these girls are just too immature for my tastes.
