I loved this so much, I was entirely hooked on it. It's not exhaustive, it's surely not perfect and I'm no expert. I had fun reading it and found it very useful to get an overview and see what I like and am interested in. Probably my favourite from last year.

A decent introduction to the history of architecture. The author covers all major areas and occasionally makes references of how the architecture influences/is influenced by the culture.
The abundance of pictures is helpful, but they aren't referenced directly in the text, so some hunting needs to be done to correlate the correct illustration. Like most surveys though, the author tries to cover too much terrain. The plethora of names (both of buildings and architects) is a bit overwhelming.

This book is exactly what it claims to be, "A Concise History of Western Architecture". It took much longer to read than I anticipated. I enjoyed studying the exteriors of the interiors I studied in college. This book was an excellent find at a thrift shop.

The terminology is a little difficult if you're not an architect but the text flow makes the point of this book absolutely understood.
