When the kingdom's most wanted—and most charming—bandit Flynn Rider hides in a mysterious tower, the last thing he expects to find is Rapunzel, a spirited teen with an unlikely superpower—70 feet of magical golden hair! Together, the unlikely duo sets off on a fantastic journey filled with surprising heroes, laughter and suspense. This Little Golden Book retelling of Disney Tangled will thrill young children with its beautiful full-color illustrations.
I haven't seen the movie, but I'm pretty familiar with the characters, particularly after Magically Maximus. Actually, I haven't seen a lot of movies that I'm nevertheless familiar with. Still, it's nice to finally flesh out some of the details in between the obvious bits (magic hair, girl in tower, guy rescues girl, they fall in love because OF COURSE they do since it's BORING when rescued people become JUST FRIENDS).
I think what surprised me most is the thing I kind of always wished would happen, DOES. It's a bit of a twist what happens AFTER that, but I'm kind of glad!
Anyway, a lot faster than watching a 1 hour and 40 minute movie, haha.
Recommended for young fans of the movie! I suppose, also, parents who think maybe the movie is too violent (I don't know if it is—the violent part is sort of glazed over in this).
Tangled is my daughter's absolute favorite. We have read this book many, many times (along with several other Rapunzel retellings) and it's a good interpretation of the film. It simplifies and shortens a lot of elements, but my daughter knows the story well enough to fill in the blanks. We've got quite a few of the Disney princess Little Golden Books and this is definitely one the best. Some of them are too short, cutting way too much (The Princess and the Frog). Some of them are too long, droning on endlessly (Beauty and the Beast). This strikes the right balance.
I do always start referring to Eugene by his real name once they get out of the cave, because my daughter corrects me otherwise. :)
This book depicts a young stuck in a tower with magic hair. It is very similar to the movie that it is named after. The differences include that there are scenes that have been left out, many scenes from the movie so that creates many differences. I'm not sure if there is a lot of diversity though. I would not say there is. I would recommend this book for younger elementary students. This is a fun book to read especially for read alouds.
I picked up this book because I liked the art style, and most of the pages are quite beautiful. There is one page where the perspective just looks awkward on the face, but the rest of the pages are ones I wouldn't mind hanging on my wall.
As for the story itself, it's simply a simplified version of the movie. Still, I think the author did a good job at condensing it while still leaving some of the emotion in it.
While you'd think that you couldn't go wrong with a retelling of a classic Disney film based on a classic fairy tale, somehow, this book does. It takes all the humor and cheek of the film... and removes it completely. I've read better cereal boxes. The only thing my three-year-old likes is that it has Pascal. Let's be honest.
This Little Golden Book followed the story of the movie quite well and makes a beautiful addition for any young fan. I personally really loved the way it put words to a more understated but crucial, iconic scene in the movie, too. "Rapunzel was finally free of the evil woman." The artwork is lovely.
My daughter loves princess and told me she loves this books. That would be good enough for me, but I also love the story too. She overcomes the boundaries that are placed on her life and that is a lot for an 18 year old to do. It does miss a couple key characters like the Stabington Brothers who could have taken up one page with Flynn Rider, overall its good but not great.
The Disney movie made into a book. Nice because it is much shorter than having to watch the movie. Unoriginal because it is just the movie. So there are pros and cons.
Tangled is a modern day Rapunzel story. It follows along with the traditional Rapunzel story that has been known for years. There are many different takes on the Rapunzel, but this one is one that many kids know of today because of the common Disney movie. There are a few slight differences between Tangled and Rapunzel. In Rapunzel, the man who rescues her is a prince, where as in Tangled, it is a thief. Also, once Rapunzel in Tangled cuts her hair it is brown where as in the older Rapunzel, her hair still stays golden blonde.
Despite the differences, the themes that have to stay present in a Rapunzel story is that of a Damsel in Distress. A young girl has to be locked in a tower, and the only way to get into the tower is that of her letting her long hair down and that person would climb up her hair into the window. It just so happens that a man spots a witch climbing up the Rapunzel's hair and becomes intrigued with the long, blonde-haired beauty and sets out to save her.
This book s an awsome book sorry i don't no were to stop a sentence so u might just yell at me dddddddddddddoooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnn'''''''''''''''tttttttttttttt yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeellllllllllll aaaaaaaaaatttttttttttttttttttttt mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! YA I STOP AT A CENTENCE DANG IT I CANT STOP TALKING YA SPRING BREAK YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Buying this for my kid's easter basket is another concession to her general disinterest of fairy tales in non-Disney form. (Which is probably partially due to my inability to find other adaptations that are simple enough for the fruit fly attention span of a 3 year old.) It's a pretty decent quick and dirty adaptation of the movie minus the ''frying pan as a weapon'' theme.
This short book tells the whole story of Tangled. The illustrations were not very good and they did not look like the movie. The story was choppy and seemed to jump around a lot. Some children who really loved the movie might like this book but overall I would not recommend it to anyone or give it to little children to read.
A sweet little novelization of the movie, which reminded me of the nice little details they kept from the original version (like Rapunzel's healing tears). And it didn't have the less-than-forgiveable male narration that the movie had.
A nicely condensed version of the movie that my little lady loves so much, it rivals her love of Frozen. "Punz, Fin Rier, and Mas" are pretty much her favorite characters ever. The artwork is a little too off for me but she enjoys it nonetheless and that's all that matter.
A really nice condensed version of the Disney story about Rapunzel. Nice use of language, nice simple and calm explanations for everything that happens.
Received this as a late Christmas present, and loved it. The art style is lovely, just added to my excitement for the new sequel and series coming this year!
