"Dark Secrets" by UK Author Carol Collins

The full length novel of well over 43,000 words and 137 pages in the print edition
This is one of ten romantic novels published in paperback and hardback and now released as a Kindle eBook by Carol Collins

Story Description
No heavy breathing, no verbal threats and yet the mysterious, oppressive silence on the telephone line is equally as frightening to Tessa. She knows that somehow these calls are linked to her past…perhaps to her daughter, Suzanne, and the dark secret which surrounds her birth.
At least in Russell Davidson Tessa has found a friend she can trust, but the unexpected reappearance of his brother Richard is very disquieting. And she badly needs Detective Inspector Philip Anthony's professional assistance…if only her vulnerable heart can cope with seeing him again.
Not realizing where it will lead, Tessa begins to tread the path which will end in a terrifying climax deep within the dark and eerie Forest of Dean.

Writing has always been my obsession and my joy. From the age of ten, I was writing short books, based on favourite TV characters. In my twenties, spare time in my job enabled me to write my first ‘proper’ novel, and I was fortunate enough to have it accepted by the very first publisher I approached. There followed a series of nine present day romances, all published by a top London publisher.
Love may be at the centre of them, but I have always tried to incorporate something more…a touch of mystery, discovery or as in several novels, more than a hint of danger.
As well as being sold in bookshops etc., all of these nine books have been borrowed nationwide from libraries.
My publishers asked me to use two pseudonyms as well as my own name, as more than one book was being published in a very short space of time.
I chose Caroline Etty my maiden name and Lorraine Rose My daughter’s Christian name, plus my mother-in-law’s maiden name
My husband and myself live in a village situated in the National Forest, Leicestershire. Until recently, we lived in the beautiful Cotswolds, and that area has figured in several of the
books. I have two children who are both happily married, and two grandchildren,
and continue to write at every available opportunity

I enjoyed the mixture of tension and romance which pervades this novel very much. Tessa is a great heroine, struggling to bring up her small daughter alone, and the two brothers she meets...Richard and Russell...both seem likely candidates for her love. However, one has a dark secret, and the story ends with an exciting climax in the creepy, nightime forest.
