Stephen R. King grew up in the Midwest. He enjoys writing short stories in many different genres such as thriller, sci-fi, action-adventure, horror, supernatural, fantasy and more. If you enjoy a good late-night read, or want to spend some time away in another realm or universe, feel free to relax and go on many different journeys with multiple short stories to choose from.
This is NOT "THE" Stephen King. A bunch of less than satisfying short stories. Having realized that this was not my favorite author, I thought I would give it a shot. The book fails to engage the reader. Character development is poor. You're not invested in the characters or the story. The author may have better success using a pen name, to lower the readers expectation.
It turns out that one little initial in the author's name makes a world of difference. This is definitely not the King you are looking for, even if the subject of each of these stories sounds like something he would write. None of the four stories on display here really make much of an impact, though the first and last at least show some potential. Sadly, neither really manages to go in an interesting direction rather than straight ahead. I don’t think there is a single thing that I will recall about these stories even a week from now. (Grade:4/10)
I am not sure who the proofreader was on this book, but another one needs to be hired. There were so many spelling errors and many instances where the wrong word was used in a sentence. It was very disturbing to me. I also think that the writer has good ideas for his stories but the endings just fall flat. Not a bad book, but I would not read any others for the same reasons noted prior.
Accounts of individual struggles with dark forces. A priest or other religious entity has taken to using his position to further his own wants. Eventually he is faced w with his reward. In a second tale a wealthy hunter is determined to kill his most wanted prize but finds that there are forces working against him. To late!
I know it’s my fault for not paying more attention, but I feel thoroughly duped by this author’s name. It didn’t take long though to figure out that this isn’t THE Stephen King. I gave it the benefit of the doubt and kept reading, but wow, even the proofreading is terrible. At least it’s a quick read.
I love Stephen King, so it grieves me to give Demon Keepers the first 3 of all the mostly 5’s Mr. King usually earns. I found Demon Keepers to be slow and not really interesting. There are some stand-out parts, and the protagonist is an interesting character, not so, the others. I look forward to the new books coming out in 2025.
Not up to King’s usual brilliance. I would call it merely “adequate”, a description which is far short of the ability of the writer that I consider the planet’s greatest living wordsmith.
Ok. I was duped. I thought this was “the” Stephen King. It’s not. Aside from terrible character and plot development, this book is loaded with typos and just poor use of the English language. Sigh. I’m out—don’t waste your $$!
Several short stories to decide what you are afraid of. There are all sorts of examples and you are bound to find one or two that will make your toes curl up. All stories are interesting, but some are definitely frightening. Enjoy!
This book was amazing, I really enjoyed the stories, and I got the shivers many times. I had some uneasy sleep after the first story. But don’t let that threaten you off. Because it’s a great book.
Wow, this was stunningly bad. I had to give up a quarter of the way into the second short story. I was quite certain Stephen King did not write these and it was all a lie. Only later did I see the R in the middle.
Hmmm. This is the first time I have read a Stephen King story and thought the writing was awful. The first story here I liked. The last was not too bad. The two middle ones were clunky and boring.
I love short stories and novellas. Short, sweet and get to the point. There were a bunch of misspellings & the wrong tense on certain verbs. Really great stories!
Love Stephen King always. The story changed dramatically and the two parts did not seem to be connected. Enjoyed it anyway as Mr. King’s writing is just wonderful to read
Too wordy. Worse ending were lazy and lacked any effort. The "Bear" rambled on forever. Although a big King fan, don't waste your time or money on Demon Keepers.
