does exactly what it advertises itself to do. the spread of billiards was pretty cool to learn about too. the basics, like holds, positioning, and types of shots, were thoroughly in detail, and i skimmed all the “advanced” stuff, like the puzzles and strategic play advice.

i feel more equipped to have fun at bars now.

This book was recommended to me by my brother in law who is a good pool player. Mosconi's very clear and concise descriptions of technique has already helped me improve my game immensely. I will not invest hours of practicing on a game, but it has helped me to have a lot more fun playing with my son. Since I have significant back problems, it's very difficult to find "sports" that I can play with him. Sitting down is extremely difficult for me, so I regard pool as a God-send (literally) for me to spend quality time with him. I'm sure the book will help him, too, when he gets old enough to understand the explanations. However, I plan on withholding it from him as long as possible, because he already beats me routinely and he's only 8!
