Determined to discover the secrets behind Old Lady Lloyd's lonely, reclusive life, Sara gets some unexpected help from Sylvia Grey, a talented singer whose beautiful voice could melt Lady Lloyd's cold heart. Reprint. TV tie-in.
I have read a lot of books by Louisa Mae Alcott. This sweet story is written in a way to sincerely remind me of "Little Women" or other books such as "Seven Cousins". In this story a young girl brings together several generations of people. It shows how people need each other and how direct intervention can often bring youthful life mistakes into line and bring happiness to lonely people.
1st read this one when I was still in grade school. I'm rating it based on that fifth grader's mind. She didn't forget the story, she'll dig it again. 😉
I Loved It! Such a riveting tale. I couldn’t put it down. I got so engrossed in the story that I actually felt like I was apart of the story. I also love the TV series and movies as well.
The Song of Night, simply didn't feel very moving.
Maybe that's because I spent ages reading it, with lots of time in between. I'd put the book on hold and go watch the hockey game, which disconnected my experiences with the book.
It certainly looks like a heart warming story, worthy of a lesson, just like the rest of LM Montgomery's other books. It has the same elements, and the same ideas.
However simply because I didn't read more of this in less time, I didn't enjoy it as much. That I think was the problem.
Though I'm finding that a lot of LM Montgomery's characters are more or less the same. They're all thinkers who's family have all died. They're all like that.
#3 of The Road To Avonlea Chronicles. 1 more to go. I've enjoyed them as they are extremely easy reads and reminiscent of L.M. Montgomery's way of writing. However, when writing stories based off of the original, perhaps one should pay attention to character details. For one thing, Felix is not Felicity or Cicily's brother. In The Story Girl by L.M - where these storis are based of of - he is their cousin who comes to stay with them from Toronto with his brother Beverly, who is in no way mentioned in these stories. Also, Cecily's school friend Clemmie Ray is indeed Sara Ray from The Story Girl. C'mon guys, get it right.
