Helen can’t stand it any longer. Being alone for months at a time and not knowing if Ethan is coming home, is making her miserable. Divorce seems to be the only answer—until her smoking-hot Navy SEAL husband returns home, and her heart starts to flutter once more. She’s not falling for it this time, though. When Ethan is around, everything is wonderful. But he always leaves. Always. But keeping her distance from Ethan is hard when she needs his protection. Her drug-smuggling boss is trying to kill her, and her survival depends on having a trained SEAL watching her back. She just wishes he would stay. But Ethan has always chosen the SEALs over her... Will he make the same mistake this time?
It isn’t a big surprise Katie Knight ended up writing romances about the stellar, studdly men of the Navy SEALs; after all, she was a K-9 trainer for the SEALs and met her own Navy SEAL hero husband while preparing one of their K-9 partners for combat. A few years after their marriage, her and hubby decided to retire with their K-9 partner, Sam, to raise their children in the Midwest. It wasn’t long after that before Katie decided to write her own stories featuring the men of the SEAL teams and the women who love them.
When not imagining dangerously romantic scenarios for her heroes and their feisty heroines, Katie enjoys hikes with her husband and Sam, spending time with her children, and long runs (on and off the beach).
I wanna thank netgalley for this ARC in exhange of an honest review:
I really liked this book. They had hit a rough patch in their marriage but they were both trying to make things better. They didn't want to give up but things weren't easy. Loving each other it's the most important part and they had that. It was the communication part that they had to work on. They were in a back and forth but they did communicate. It some serious work and some sacrifice but they finally got their HEA. Sometimes in life we have to make choices and choose what really makes us happy and gives our life meaning, and that's exactly what they did. Helen had her problems yes and Ethan did too. They were both wrong and right at the same time. But their love deserved another chance
This book delivers a smartly crafted blend of intense emotions and pulse-pounding danger. I think one of the very best things about this book was its honesty. We are all thankful to those that chose to serve and acknowledge the sacrifices they make to do so, but we don't always think about their wives, kids and families and the sacrifices that they make, and this book really addresses that and makes you think. An awesome start to a new series that I'm eager to read more of. I am posting a unsolicited, unbiased review.
This is a well written book with strong characters and an action packed storyline. The author does a great job building the story filling it with drama, misunderstandings, danger and romance. It moves fluidly with her descriptive scenes and is an exciting story.

I was suspicious of everyone and overall I think it was fairly easy to figure out whodunnit but I don’t think this was written to be a deep dive mystery so I didn’t mind. The miscommunication was KILLING ME though. Glad they were able to work it out but dannnnng.

When Ethan is served divorce papers, he takes emergency leave from his Navy SEAL position. When he arrives home, he discovers their apartment trashed and his soon to be ex-wife missing. Helen is in a load of trouble when she discovers that the museum she works for is dealing in drugs. When Ethan vows to protect her, and completely changes his whole outlook will it save their marriage? Can Ethan protect her from the people that are after her?
This story started out with Ethan on emergency leave from his Seal team as his wife filed for a divorce. He gets home and the place is trashed and she is nowhere to be found. The story has lots of drama in it, misunderstandings abut why he wouldn't stop being a Seal and drugs being shipped to the museum she works at. She had two friends helping her and one of Ethan's Seal buddies. It's a good story.

ETHAN is the first instalment in Katie Knight’s contemporary, adult SEAL Protectors erotic, romantic suspense series. This is US Navy SEAL Ethan Lee, and museum education director Helen Lee’s story line.
Told from dual omniscient third person perspectives (Ethan and Helen) ETHAN follows the break down of a marriage in the wake of Ethan’s long absences from home. Served with divorce papers while on assignment, Ethan is granted some time off in an effort to save his struggling marriage, a marriage he believed was better than ever but Ethan’s return is met with more anxiety and conflict when he discovers his wife is pregnant, and she is the target of a man desperate enough to take revenge at all costs. On the run together, Ethan and Helen continue to battle about the future, a future in which Ethan has no desire to change the direction of his life. What ensues is the ongoing, embattled marriage between our story line couple, and the potential fall-out as Ethan and Helen’s issues of trust and a lack of communication threaten the life of our story line heroine.
The world building sets the tone for the series as the issues of the drugs and the people involved continues to be a part of the ongoing conflict. With each secret revealed, Helen, and journalist Sophie find themselves facing more complications, and threats by the people involved.
The relationship between Helen and Ethan is one of a crumbling marriage. Helen wants Ethan to settle down, and with the news of their surprise pregnancy, she needs her husband more than ever but Ethan is first married to his job: a Navy SEAL forever, a part of who he is not just what he does. Ethan refuses to step back even though his marriage is threatened, and in doing so, finds himself, looking towards the future alone. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top sexually graphic language and text.
We are introduced to Ethan’s friend and fellow SEAL Owen McCormick, journalist Sophie Carter, as well as Helen’s boss’ former sister in law Julie Hart; security guard Mason, and museum curator Benjamin Wilson.
ETHAN is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, secrets and lies, the break down of a marriage, forgiveness and love. The premise is compelling and heart breaking; the romance is subtle; the characters are desperate, determined and broken-Helen is often a little TSTL. ETHAN ends on a bit of a cliff hanger-the overarching conflict has yet to be resolved.
Ethan by Katie Knight is a SEAL story, much like many of her others. Ethan Lee is home on leave. When he arrived in California, he received divorce papers. Now all he wanted was to see Helen and work this all out. When he arrived at her apartment, it had been ransacked. The police had been called but they seemed to think he had done it. They took him down to headquarters where he was released after Helen showed up to bail him out. What the heck? Helen had been hiding for three days now, she told him. She suspected that the director of the museum where she worked was smuggling drugs into the museum and then distributing them. He had found out she knew. She was scared. This was something Ethan could do while they talked about the divorce papers. He found a safe place for them and the conversation started. She was sick of being alone while he was deployed. He got that. She was also sick of being left out of his life and his decisions. He didn’t hear that. Things got better, then got worse. Meanwhile they didn’t have enough to go to the police, until they did. Then, things got dangerous.
First, I didn’t love the black cover. It didn’t fit the book and if I were shopping, I’d skip right over it. The characters were good. Knight portrayed them well. As so many alpha men, communicating was not Ethan’s strong point. He did have many other talents, however, both in and out of bed. Helen was needier than she appeared. In fact, then she started standing up for herself, he liked it. There was so much on their plates right now, none of it could be the focus until they took care of this drug thing. They weren’t even sure who they could trust. Well, Helen was, so was Ethan, but their opinions didn’t agree. That was another cause for dissension. Until it was almost the end of his leave: divorce or reconcile, catch the drug smugglers, what was going to happen?
I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Ethan by the author through Booksprout. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #KatieKnight #Ethan #Booksprout
Perfect blend of military, suspense and second chance romance and more Ethan (SEAL Protectors Book 1) by Katie Knight is an exciting romance read. A riveting read with a protective, perfect, yet flawed SEAL Hero/husband, dangerous suspense with the smart, strong yet vulnerable Heroine/wife, a marriage in peril, an unexpected pregnancy, failure to communicate and ultimately a second chance. The plots are highly engaging. The threat to Helen is real, but that doesn't stop her from pursuing the truth or from trying to live her best life. Ethan is blindsided by Helen's request for a divorce as well as the dangerous situation Helen finds herself in. The unhappy couple work together to bring an end to the danger that Helen is in and the forced proximity gives them, especially Ethan, a chance to rights the wrongs that have brought Helen to the point of wanting to end their 10 year marriage. I'm not usually a fan of romances that feature an already married couple (not sure why) but I was drawn in by the SEAL element as it is likely all too real for active duty military. I was immediately drawn into this story for the characters themselves and compelled to find out how they come to a resolution. It's hard work to be sure and brings the message home that taking each other for granted is a recipe for an unhappy ending. Overall, the threat to Helen is ended but the dangerous circumstance involving two of Helen's friends is not resolved at all. Ethan and Helen's marriage is saved after much self-reflection and life affirming realizations. Love can be enough, but communication is key to share dreams, hopes, fears and worries too. Ethan and Helen find their way to continue and reaffirm their HEA. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily share my review.
Romance trope: marriage in trouble Series: SEAL Protectors Length: 322 pages
Plot: Ethan thought that everything was great in his marriage to Helem, so he's blindsided when she files for divorce. All Helen wants is to come first, for once, in her husband's life, but he always chooses the military. Now that she finds herself in danger, though, this may be the last good deed that Ethan can do for her, before he lets her go.
Commentary: I don't feel like Ethan ever got it. I don't think he ever understood why Helen was so over their marriage and I think it started with him believing that he owed the military something (seemingly forever). There was no big deal about him feeling that - he just wanted to pay back the government for giving him a chance. News alert - they don't care about your emotional motivation. But at any rate, the way he kept putting his wife second, even when she was pregnant, until the very end of the story, was gross and made me question whether he really loved her, even after the story was over. He had a chance to stay in the military and keep his wife, and he just wouldn't. I did not like this hero at all and almost gave this 2 stars instead of 3 because I just didn't believe it was a romance.
Divorce papers equal military leave! This is about Ethan and Helen. Ethan received the divorce papers while on base and immediately asked for a leave to deal with the issue and find out what was going on as he and his wife had been happily married, so he was confused. Ethan didn’t realize that Helen had been missing due to legal activity in her job, and she knew it had to do with her new boss but needed proof before going to law enforcement. Of course, when he goes home and sees the apartment trashed, he calls the police, only to be arrested in connection to her disappearance. The story gets good from there, but a bit confusing as she loves him but doesn’t think he would ever put her needs before the military, and she can’t live like that. He ends up moving her to a cottage that a friend owns, and there they find out she is pregnant with his child, so he has to fight for his marriage now. Let’s not forget there is someone after her; he also needs to keep her safe. Her BFF Sophie also needs help as she is helping with the investigation, and his friend, Owen, is up for the task of keeping her safe.
This book has some action, but it leaves you wanting more, or better yet, Owen and Sophie’s story as Wilson hasn’t been caught. What happens to Julia and the kids – who helps her out?
Ethan (SEAL Protectors #1) by Katie Knight Publisher: Relay Publishing Genre: General Fiction (Adult), Romance Published: March 20, 2023
Ethan is the first book in the new SEAL Protectors series by Katie Knight and I am so excited!
I loved Ethan and Helen! High school sweethearts, struggling for connection after 10 years of marriage, learning that communication is key. Ethan comes home on leave to try to repair his marriage and Helen is missing. Their apartment is trashed and the police take HIM in for questioning...WOW! This book kicks off right away and just keeps going.
What has Helen gotten herself into? There's something going on at work and Helen is determined to figure it out. She knows it bad and can destroy the museum. She goes into hiding and keeps in touch with people she can trust. Ethan arrives and things get amped up quickly.
Together, they will get to the bottom of things, with the help of close friends and they learn a lot about each other. I loved their interactions together. They have great chemistry and an intense love! I was rooting for them the whole time!
I loved this book! I can't wait for the next one because I want to see how things will unravel!!!

I loved Ethan: Book 1 of SEAL Protectors. Ethan is a Navy Seal and came home from a mission to find out his wife had filed for divorce. Helen has been waiting for Ethan to take a training position so he could be home with her and now their baby but Ethan hasn’t done it. She doesn’t want a divorce but it seems like the only solution if he doesn’t want to be there. Now not only does Ethan have to deal with a looming divorce but Helen found out her boss is up to a lot of criminal activities and now she needs protection. Who is best suited for the job but her husband? Unfortunately, their close proximity hasn’t seemed to help their divorce situation. Ethan seeks advice but isn’t willing to really listen to it and gives Helen the signed papers. Will Ethan realize his mistake before it’s too late? When Helen is kidnapped will Ethan be able to get to her in time? This was such a great story. It had a lot of suspense but also heartbreak. I loved these characters and I hope Owen and Sophie get stories. I would definitely recommend this book.

Ethan and Helen have been married for 10 years – most of this time, Ethan has been deployed and makes decisions without consulting her. Helen has had enough and decides that for her happiness, she needs to file for a divorce since Ethan doesn’t seem to listen or communicate with her. But Helen hasn’t really communicated with him either and leads him to believe all is fine and dandy. After the fact, she is always, I wish I would have said this, or been more assertive, etc.
Once served with the divorce papers, Ethan takes leave to confront her – she is all he has ever loved and will do anything to win her back. Helen has gotten herself into some trouble with her boss and has been hiding out. When the house is tossed and Ethan finds out she has been hiding out, Protector comes out and he will stop at nothing to make sure she is ok. Drama, suspense, mystery, twists and turns and communication (or lack of!) are plenty. I look forward to reading the next book in this series and hope it is about Sophie and Owen.

Pretty easy book to read! Helen and Ethan frustrated the crap out of me with their communication issues but I really appreciated the self awareness they had. I’m glad Helen realized how her lack of saying anything was also a major issue. I straight up laughed though when she finally had her heart to heart and Ethan started texting. That was comedic genius😂😂 poor girl, I think I would have had a stroke if that was me and just went bat shit crazy especially if I was pregnant
I got an ARC of this off NetGalley and plan to read book 2 when it comes out. I was curious how the plot would progress, and I like the direction it was going. I wish there was more background information in the beginning of the book. It felt like we hit the ground running and I wanted more info on who the characters were and more background on the ten year marriage and how it was before the split. Most of my questions were answered later in the book, which made me happy. I would have been disappointed to not know how Helen and Ethan met.

Katie Knight is at it again with her super sexy alpha Navy SEALs. These SEALs are who you most definitely want to watch your back and being your soulmates. This is the 1st book her Katie’s new series “Seal Protectors”. Helen and Ethan been together for 10 years. Helen doesn’t seem to be happy anymore with Ethan coming and going on his missions as a Navy SEAL. She has had enough and wants a divorce. Ethan had no idea that his marriage was in trouble; but granting Helen a divorce is not happening. He is going to do whatever it takes to mend his marriage. Helen loves Ethan and doesn’t really want a divorce, but something has to give. Helen is in need of her Navy SEAL husband Ethan’s protection when she learns that her drug smuggling boss is trying kill her.
Why is Helen’s drug smuggling boss trying to kill her, what does she know, with Ethan protecting Helen which he has no problem with; will it be enough to keep her alive and save their marriage?

Helen and Navy SEAL Ethan Lee have been married for 10 years. She loves him but is not happy with the life they are forced into. When he’s home, life is perfect. But he leaves for months at a time, and she never knows for sure whether he will be coming back to her. The only solution she sees is getting a divorce because she knows he would never give up the work he thrives in doing.
Ethan had been completely unaware of her unhappiness. But when she is in danger from her boss’ illegal dealings, Ethan will do what he does best and protect her at all costs while he takes care of the problem. Learning his wife is carrying their child, he will have more reasons than ever to win her back and make things right.
It seems to me that these two need to learn some communication skills. Their behavior could be very frustrating as we watch things go wrong because they don’t address issues together. If they can fix that, their marriage may have a chance to work since love without communication is on shaky ground.
Our heroine is heart broken, but done. She can't deal with our hero always being absent. But after seeing something she shouldn't have, she gets to see our hero in action. This gives both of them a new perspective and a second chance.
This is book one of the series, so no issues there.
This is a romantic suspense story with a military hero. Oh, and let's throw in a baby and second chance just to add to the mix. The story is well written and easy to read with a simple and realistic setting. The characters, however, are definitely the stars of this show. They are well developed with realistic personalities as well as realistic problems. The plot moves at a good pace and includes a nice mix of action and romance. I really enjoyed watching our couple discover themselves again and how well they fit together. Overall, this was a very enjoyable read and I look forward to more from this author.
Highly recommended.

Receiving divorce papers from his wife was totally unexpected for Navy SEAL Ethan Lee. He returned home to find their apartment trashed and his wife, Hannah, missing. Hannah is dealing with the possibility that the curator at her museum is smuggling drugs. Working with her friend, Sophie who is an investigative reporter, they need more information before going to the police. After he refused to accept a training position, Hannah tells him that she is not strong enough to spend the next ten years without him, especially now that she is going to have his baby. He tells her that she is the first thing he thinks about in the morning and the last thing at night; he loves her. When she is threatened, by someone she trusted, will he find her in time? Such heartfelt emotion and sharing between Ethan and Hannah as they finally open up about their feelings and love. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
Ethan is a Navy SEAL and is home on leave after receiving divorce papers from the love of his life, Helen. When he left for his last mission he thought everything was great. Now he can’t get ahold of Helen to talk things through and fix the problem. Turns out Helen, her best friends Sophia and Julia are hiding out from Helen’s boss because she figured out he’s using the museum they work for to smuggle drugs. Sophia is a reporter and Julia is the bosses sister-in-law who lives with him after her sister died to take care of his children. This book is full of drama, danger suspense, and heartbreak. Ethan and Helen have a big problem with communication and sharing their feelings. In order to save their marriage the need to learn how to express their fears, hurts, and desires not to mention surviving trying to take down a major drug operation.

A wonderful story of Ethan and Helen. HE is a SEAL away on missions often. Helen works in a museum but wants her husband more. He is making his decisions without consulting and discussing them with her. She has decided that divorce is the only solution so she doesn’t feel so alone. But when Helen finds evidence of drug smuggling in her museum, she finds her life in danger. As she and Ethan work to keep her safe and still find the people involved, they also find themselves working on keeping their marriage together since Helen also has learned she is pregnant. Lots of suspense as they try to keep themselves safe and work through their problems. As often happens, both sides feel they are right and have trouble understanding why there are problems. A great story of these two working together to resolve several issues.

A really great, action packed story. Ethan receives divorce papers from his wife, Helen, shocked, he returns home to find out why when he realises that his wife is in danger. Ethan is a Navy SEAL, Helen knows he will keep her safe while she tries to prove that her boss is smuggling drugs through her place of work, however it doesn’t change the state of their marriage or the fact that she wants a divorce. Helen loves Ethan, however she feels like she has been second place to his career all along, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to change anytime soon. However when Helen’s life is in danger and they make a surprise discovery, Ethan knows he needs to look at his priorities. A really great book, lots of drama and action, twists and turns and great characters. Whilst not finishing on a cliffhanger, the mystery has not been resolved, can’t wait for the next book.

Ethan gets an emergency leave of absence from his SEAL Team after receiving divorce papers from Helen, his wife of 10 years. For the life of him, he cannot figure what went wrong in what he thought was a perfect marriage. Upon arriving home, Ethan has learned that Helen has gotten herself into a bit of trouble but marriage on the rocks or not, Ethan is going to do whatever is needed to protect Helen. Hopefully the time they spend together will allow Ethan to remind Helen just why they are perfect together. A surprise pregnancy might just be the turning point to remind Helen that they can still have their HEA and the family they always planned for, unless her dishonest boss ends up being successful in making Helen disappear. I am glad to see another new series from Katie Knight and am eagerly awaiting book 2.

Ethan and Helen have gotten into some bad habits in their marriage that are strangling the life out of the love and affection they once had. When Ethan discovers that his wife is accidentally up to her eyebrows investigating a drug smuggling operation, will he be able to protect and save his marriage at the same time or will everything he does only cement Helen’s decision in her mind? Wow. I’m a sucker for a second chance, but boy do these two have their work cut out for them. I loved seeing the sparks that still zapped between them, but it hurt my heart to witness all the pain they inadvertently caused one another. The mystery Helen’s embroiled in kept me glued to the pages to see what would happen next. And in that vein, I can’t wait to see what the next book will bring us. I received a complimentary advance copy of this book through Booksprout.
This was a really fast paced story with plenty of action, suspense, danger, communication skills and Ethan, a SEAL, still very much in love with his wife. Helen has given Ethan 10 years but he is gone most of the time and she is lonely. Ethan is shocked that Helen is so unhappy but until the danger to her life is over he will guard her and protect her. I love that the closer they get to each other the more Ethan tries to write the wrongs in their marriage. I love that Ethan and Helen were able to focus on fixing their marriage it takes more than love to save this marriage they needed to communicate to each other how they felt. I'm glad that they kept their HEA. I enjoyed this story and the characters very much. Highly Recommend.

With the perfect blend of romance and suspense, this book drew me in right from the start. I absolutely devoured it.
Navy SEAL Ethan finds out that his wife wants to end their marriage. He takes personal leave to go discuss the situation with her. What he finds is their apartment has been ransacked and Helen is not there.
Helen picks him up from the police station where he was detained because the police thought he was responsible for Helen's disappearance. She briefly explains that she is hiding because her boss at the museum where she works is involved in something questionable.
Ethan wants to help her and also wants to do what he can to save their marriage. Will he accomplish either?
This book was so good. I highly recommend it!.

I think this is my first book by Katie Knight, I really enjoyed her style of writing. Ethan and Helen have been married for years, but things have become a problem with all his deployments. Taking leave to save his marriage, he doesn't realize how unhappy Helen is until now. Arriving home Ethan discovers his wife is missing and in danger. On the run to try and they embark on a roller coaster ride with a bit of mystery, suspense and action.. There was some tough problems with Helen and Ethan, some action and intrigue in the story too. The intrigue is throughout the story and also has a twist about who the bad guy is. This is a romance with the two of them attempting to salvage their marriage. I enjoyed the author's writing style and how she worked out their issues and showed them how much they really loved each other.
Ethan is a Navy SEAL who has been married to Helen for years. After he returns from his latest deployment, he realizes that his view of their marriage is very different from hers when she wants a divorce. He wants answers but when he goes to find her, he is not only forced to deal with their marital situation but the danger she is in as well.
The love that Helen has for Ethan hasn’t diminished but she grown weary of his career coming first especially since there isn’t only themselves to consider. When she finds herself in a dangerous situation they find themselves spending time together to eliminate the threat but will it also allow them to recapture their marriage?
Romance and suspense combine as Ethan and Helen must not only escape the dangerous situation but decide if what they have is worth fighting for.
Ethan has come home from a mission and is wanting to talk to his wife about why she wants a divorce. Helen loves Ethan but he never talks to her and when he re-upped and then turned down a training position each time with no words to her she knew it was time to let him go. Now she knows she's pregnant and she never knows if he is going to come home or not, he also never talks to her when he is gone as well. Now wanting to talk to her he finds himself protecting her because someone is after her and while he is trying to protect her he is trying to talk to her as well. This goes on for most of the book which is good and finally, they begin to talk instead of him talking in his head and to an old Seal. this book works and all of the characters make this book really flow a good story. I received this book from Netgalley.com
First book I’ve read by this author. This book as the blurb says is about a couple facing divorce in a time when the wife is in danger and therefore having to rely on the husband to help her. It’s a nicely paced read highlighting the struggles of this military couple, and is something any woman with a work away husband could relate to. The support characters are included in a way that you just know that these will lead into further books in the series.
It’s not a very fast paced, but it does have a really good twist to it. It does end in a cliff-hanger, obviously to lead into book two, which I really feel should be included in the blurb. Hence only the four stars. I received a review reader’s copy of the book, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
