Jay Osmond is a consummate entertainer. The youngest original member of the Osmond Brothers, he was widely known as the endearing little boy with the toothless grin on The Andy Williams Show. Fifty years, 30 gold albums, and 77 million records later, Jay opens up about his personal life and long-standing career in this heartfelt autobiography.
Very interesting book about Jay Osmond’s life. I would’ve given it five stars if this version had the photographs that were in the original publication.
I give the book 3.5 stars. I know alot has changed in Jay's life since he wrote book 11 years ago but overall it was still entertaining. There were plenty of stories that as a long time Osmond fan were fun to hear but compared to both Donny and Marie's books, I felt he left more of the intense part/s of his life out. The Jay Osmond in this book is not the Jay Osmond of today represented on his weekly podcasts - he's certainly come a long way. Thanks for the memories Jay!
I bought this book for my mum as a surprise as Jay is her favourite member of The Osmonds, i have also read the book and found it interesting as my mum brought me up listening to The Osmonds. Great book for music fans and especially of groups from the 1970's.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Jay Osmond seems like a funny person and very caring. I laughed at the escapades he got himself into. And the girls, oh my! I know Jay's life has changed greatly since this book was written, but it was interesting to read his views on his family.
Not sure what to say. I worked on the production crew of The Donny and Marie Show and knew Jay. I was looking forward to learning something new about him. THere were some interesting occurences that I was unaware of, but honestly do not feel like I know him any better after reading the book,.
He glossed through his life, hinting at meaningful, life changing moments, but never elaborates. The book was written wholly without emotion and I found it unsatsfactory. He didn't even go into any detail of what made his wife any different from the many other girls he dated. He talks a lot about trying to find his true identity, but you're left with the feeling that he hasn't found it yet.
An I hope his comment in one chapter about name dropping was tongue-in-cheek because the next three pages are nothing but sharing stories about one celebrity after another and then culminates with a page and a half of all the celebrities he has met and worked with.
I remember him as having a playful sense of humor and you see little of that in this book. Maybe he should have waited another ten years to write this.
Anyone who knows me, knows I love the Osmonds. This was a well-written, easy-to-follow book that Jay and his assistant put together. He gives a unique perspective of what it was like to grow up in the spotlight as an Osmond Brother, and the different paths his life took when the Brothers stopped recording together for a brief time in the 80s/90s. I know the book is 10 years old already but it always tickles me to learn a little more about the Osmonds and get to know them as the amazing human beings they are and have always been.
Jay Osmond was my favorite Osmond...Donny was too popular, Merill and the others too old. Plus he was a drummer! This was a fun read into an entertainment family dynasty. It must have been a wonderful experience for him to hear the other side of the stories from his friends and family members and for them to write such nice things about him. I'm not Mormon but have to admire the family sticking to their faith.
This was a good read. I've always liked Jay Osmond, and have been wanting to get my hands on it for a while. Jay is down to earth, someone you would want to have as a friend. He tells about the joys and struggles in his life. It's a nice, clean book.
Thanks Jay for taking me down my own memory lane. I remember being with you and you family at so many of these times that it feels like we have a shared biography!
