This book is the testimony of healing and restoration of Joan Schreiner, a woman of unwavering faith. Through each chapter, you will discover how God's love and mercy can transform a life, taking it by the hand and leading it to salvation. Joan has tried to capture her life experience in this book so that her readers can draw closer to God. Although her life was not easy, she understood that there is always a way out. And as she herself narrates in her book, resilience is an important characteristic. I invite you to be part of her powerful testimony and to be filled with the love that flows in each chapter.
Joan's story is an amazing example of the power of faith and resilience. What a testament of God's redemptive love!
She shares that growing up she often lacked a safe home environment, or a parent capable of emotionally nurturing the children in the home. Joan was frequently on her own, and furthermore, lonely. Fear also reigned. Her story is fraught with accounts of traumas, addictions, and demons.
This book references inappropriate situations that happened to her during her childhood. Several deep, and sometimes traumatic, topics are discussed therein.
But through it all, Joan was a resilient girl, and woman. She trusted God, and He led her through the trials and the fierce fires. Her story is one of fantastic transformation. I truly did enjoy seeing just how her story moved from utter brokenness and pain... to PEACE! Her story shines a bright light on hope, healing, and life! Actual MIRACLES! I believe in the awesome healing power from God Almighty! Also, it's so good to be reminded that forgiveness is an unmistakeable part of the healing journey.

The first thing I noticed about reading Joan Schreiner’s “Sanctification From Scars To Salvation” was how much it felt like having coffee with someone very honest and very kind – almost like having a safe space where she has no problem sharing everything with the people she writes for. I loved this book so completely because of how brutally honest and emotionally rich Schreiner is at every turn on every page. There are countless inspirational books out there (memoirs) which fail to reveal the complexity of how traumatic experiences can impact real humans; Schreiner does the opposite. She presents these broken places and experiences and wounds as well as their corresponding darknesses, yet still finds a way to present them through her writings with beauty. It is that aspect of her encouragement, that she shares the darkest valleys of life and never gives shallow responses or false platitudes that make her encouragement so powerful and compelling to those looking for actual inner healing.
What struck me most were the many aspects of authenticity that radiated through the writing. Schreiner is not a writer from some distant mountain top shouting at the world. Instead, she is standing next to you throughout the entire journey, allowing you to see how she transformed great amounts of suffering into an incredibly powerful example of her enduring faith. I thought the writing was beautiful and intimate, providing a quiet strength that would encourage you to do deep reflection and introspection beyond just closing the final pages. This work will also challenge you to consider your burdens differently than before. It provides a refreshing perspective regarding the truth of spiritual healing being a long process rather than a one-day wonder.
This book is an absolute treasure for anyone experiencing unseen battles or seeking hope. The level of vulnerability presented by Schreiner created within me deep emotions, thankfulness and transformation. It is a book that you will always remember and will linger in your heart for a long time, creating a special home on my shelf. As well, this deeply influential and significant piece of literature will forever serve as a guiding light for others to achieve ultimate success in overcoming their struggles in order to gain greater levels of inner strength, long-lasting resilience and spiritual awareness, ultimately giving value to each reader’s collection of libraries and causing all readers to respond with gratitude.
This memoir offers a deeply personal look at a life shaped by painful experiences, difficult relationships, rejection, and spiritual struggles. I appreciated how the author reflects on these experiences with honesty while focusing on faith, forgiveness, healing, and personal growth. The chapters about family, motherhood, trust, and overcoming hardship give the book an emotional and reflective quality.
Respectfully, this book is not for me. I loved that was honest and open about the violence, addiction, and trauma in her life. I did feel that she hit so hard on her sexual abuse that she kind of glossed over the other parts of her life.
I would call this more of a scattered memoir autobiography not so much a testimony journey, but I would have better understood it with a concise timeline. It was hard to understand because it was not clear. I'm glad she was brave enough to write it.
