The design and discovery of new materials falls under the domain of materials science and engineering. It primarily focuses on solids. It studies the factors which influence the structure, properties and performance of materials. The study of the relationship between the properties, structure and processing of materials is known as materials paradigm. The fields of nanotechnology, metallurgy and biomaterials have advanced with the understanding of this paradigm. The major categories of materials studied under this field include semiconductors, polymers, biomaterials, metals, nanomaterials and ceramics. The common methods of materials processing include welding, crystal growth, casting, sintering, glassblowing, etc. This book is a valuable compilation of topics, ranging from the basic to the most complex advancements in the field of materials science and engineering. There has been rapid progress in this field and its applications are finding their way across multiple industries. In this book, using case studies and examples, constant effort has been made to make the understanding of the difficult concepts of materials science as easy and informative as possible, for the readers.
Heather Dale is a Canadian Celtic indie recording artist, touring musician and storyteller. Born and based in Toronto, she began her career by performing at Society for Creative Anachronism historical re-creation events; she has been a medieval-era re-creator since 1993 and is known by the name 'Mistress Marian of Heatherdale' within the group. She was elevated to the Order of the Laurel, the Society's highest award for achievement in the arts, in 2001.
Heather has released more than ten studio albums, several of which are entirely based on Arthurian myths and legends. Heather also released a 120-page story/songbook called The Legends of Arthur in November 2006; it has sheet music arrangements for all of her Arthurian songs. The book also includes Heather's re-telling of the whole King Arthur story, in the form of 27 traditionally-inspired stories that were originally released as part of Heather's fan newsletter.
In 2014, she started releasing chapters of an audio book version of The Legends of Arthur as a free podcast, read by herself and featuring instrumental version of many of her songs in the background. The audio book in its entirety was one of the pledge rewards during the crowdfunding campaign of her Celtic Avalon stage show.
