It’s almost summer in New York City, and the heat is breaking records on the street and between the sheets in Geneva Holliday’s beyond-sexy follow-up to Groove. When Geneva, Crystal, Chevy, and Noah get hot and bothered, they get way more than they ever bargained for…Geneva is busy caring for her daughter—and robbing the cradle with her son’s business manager. Chevy is working for a diva who requires assistance that’s way too personal for Chevy’s liking. Crystal is in for the surprise of her life when her mom (!) conspires to get Crystal’s engine purring like a kitten again. And Noah hears everyone’s secrets, miles away in London, but with these friends, secrets don’t stay secret for long! After all, what are friends for?So slip into something slinky and get ready to catch the Fever! From the Trade Paperback edition.
I didn't realize this was part of a series until I finished the book. This was another book displayed on the shelf at the checkout of the library and I just grab it due to the cover. Groove is first, then Fever, followed by Heat. Not sure if there is another one that's as far as I got looking. So I'm going back to read Groove, just for some back story. I was able to follow along with this book just fine without the back history. It was such a delightful, light, fun read that I don't mind going back.
Crystal seems to have her life together except her love life is a mess. Well maybe not a mess, just nonexistent. She get's a visit from a old childhood friend and he releases all her sexual inhibitions including some she didn't know she had, with a little chemical help.
Noah had me laughing. Him and Geneva are the funniest of the group. He is gay but had a little addiction problem in the first book. I had to go back and get that story lol. Seems Noah was happily gay until he fell into some coochie. He started with a Beyonce fantasy and met a girl that looked like her then it was all down hill from there. He has a steady serious male companion that forgave his transgressions but will he be so forgiving when Zhan decides to fulfill his fantasy?
Geneve is a single mom. Out of all 4 of the friends she is the one that didn't make it out of the projects. She is divorced but has two kids from her ex-husband. Eric and her daughter that she had with her ex even though they had been divorced for years and he had remarried several time. But love comes her way and it's not in the package she has dreamed about. Stella gets her groove back and the only thing she has to worry about is will she lose her son in the process of finding love.
Chevy sigh. Everyone has this friend (or knows someone like this) I think, self centered, selfish and even though she never has a dime or a place to live she is always dressed in expense clothes and shoes with her hair and nails done. She finally gets a good job and for once applies herself and does a pretty good job. Things are going well until her boss makes her an offer she should refuse but since it's Chevy of course she thinks with her wallet. She goes along with the deal and get the biggest shock of her life.
Fever published in 2006 Part II: My synopsis Geneva, Crystal, Chevy are back...still residing in New York and Noah is now in London. This one is too funny. ~Chevy is working for a big time Entertainment Diva (but there are a lot of surprises that come with him umh I mean her ;0) She is still triflin and living at Noah's place. ~Geneva has a baby girl by her Ex-Husband who was remarried at the time. She is still battling her weight and self esteem. But she begins to fall for someone who loves her for who she is... ~Noah has moved to London to live with his partner and to avoid anymore heterosexual encounters. ~Crystal falls for an old school friend and now turned gigalow...but she does not know this...what a conspiracy.
If you want to laugh out loud and gasp with surprise then this one is for you. But be warned this one is really naughty and you may blush. But this group of friends and their CRAZY adventures and lives is not to be missed.
Started this after I finished Groove. Loved it even more. The characters picked up where they left off, with sometime between books. It read like a sitcom bouncing from one POV to another. Steamier than the last, more lighthearted, and the characters come out ahead more so than Groove. Would love another book with the same characters.
It was hilarious and their antics were as crazy as ever. Chevy seems to continue to win, but I’m waiting for her all of her shenanigans to come back to her. Can’t wait or the next one. Really enjoying the series.
Funny and charming with "real" characters. Though second in a series, written so it was OK without the full backstory. I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads. Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to review this.
