The essence of autumn is captured in a collection of reminiscences, art, poetry, and more than one hundred old-fashioned recipes, including Mother's Country Beef Stew and Upside-Down Cranberry Meatloaf. 25,000 first printing.
I love Jane Watson Hopping's books. They are far more than mere cookbooks; they are memoirs and stories of days-gone-by. Although there are very few recipes that I would actually make, the stories and poems and artwork that are woven throughout the book are worth reading. They remind me of my grandparents' family history. We must remember these days-gone-by of family, friends, hard-work, good food and good traditional values and morals.
