Aboriginal culture is often seen to be based on oral traditions, yet there is also a long tradition of print journalism stretching back 160 years. The author has collected examples of Aboriginal journalism, ranging from the Flinders Island Chronicle handwritten by Aboriginal clerks in 1837, to Abo Call in 1938, the militant newspapers of the 1960s, 1970s as well as current publications.
Michael Rose was raised on a small family dairy farm in Upstate New York. He retired after serving in executive positions for several global multinational enterprises. He has been a non-executive director for three public companies headquartered in the US. He lives and writes in San Francisco.
