While I enjoyed this, I wish it had been written after more time had passed. It's quite raw and recent and I think a little more time to reflect would have helped - particularly with the aftermath. There might have been other stories which came to light, and a year or so's delay might have allowed these to be told too. This has the feeling of something rushed onto the shelves to make or raise money.
Incidentally, my dad was terribly wounded after being swept from his car on the outskirts of Boscastle that day, and never recovered from his injuries. RIP Geoffrey Bayfield.
Whilst in Boscastle I thought I should read the story of the flood. Coincidentally it is the 12th anniversary of the flood today. A genuinely moving account of how the flood happened and how the local community and emergency services dealt with it. Worth a read, especially if you are in Boscastle, Cornwall, England!
