This book completes the trilogy begun in A Silent Ocean Away and Decision and Destiny. In the first two, Charmaine Ryan was employed as governess to the Duvoisin children on the family's private island in the West Indies. It doesn't take long before she becomes involved in the family's secret past as well as being romantically drawn to Frederick's two sons - John the embittered legitimate son or Paul illegitimate but oh so devastatingly handsome and charming. As this book begins the family is just beginning to heal from the unbearable loss they suffered at the end of book two. Frederick is preparing a huge bash to celebrate Paul's business successes and John returns from his self-imposed banishment, Frederick's evil wife Agatha continues her schemes and Charmaine must finally chose which of the two brothers she loves.

While not the greatest works of fiction, I did enjoy the two books a lot - I love big old family sagas with lots of secrets, intrigues, deception and treachery - although this one was so OTT with it all that except for the fact I wanted to find out how things turned out with Charmaine and ---- (no I am not spilling the beans like another reviewer did) I would have sent it flying. The constant switching of POV's was very distracting, the twins at ten were just waaaaay too precocious and much as I liked John's character his cynical jokes were very off-putting and downright rude at times.

Worst of all though was the melodrama and flashbacks. I felt like I was in an episode of Days of Our Lives with Charmaine and the Duvoisin family suffering every possible set-back outside of being possessed by the Devil. The bad guys were all very very bad and of course Charmaine was very very good - no shades of gray here. There is so much great story potential and I'd love to see what like Mary Stewart of Daphne Du Maurier could have done with it. In the end, I'm glad I read the series and I'm glad I now know the rest of the story. Sorry, but I'm calling this one at two stars.

Love this trilogy. Could not put it down. I was reading the last book while out at a bar and I literally gasped, had to put it down and walk away for a minute. Totally addictive.

I loved this trilogy from start to finish. At first I thought it would be just another historical romance, but I was way off. This book immerses you in the story of the Duvoisin family, without a dull moment. Filled with family scandals, love, suspense and adventure, this trilogy does not disappoint in any category!

This series was so captivating! The authors wove many lives, places, & stories together with amazing attention to every detail. I can't wait to read it again to see what I might have missed the first time.

This book was my favorite out of the trilogy. I don’t think I would read these books again but they weren’t horrible. In this book I liked how much more of John there was and I’m glad everything was resolved in the end.

Forever Waiting was just as good as I expected it to be, and I was so happy to finally get my hands on it. I had waited for the release ever since I finished the second book in the series, and it was definitely worth the wait.

Sisters DeVa Gantt always manage to keep my attention throughout their novels, and they are definitely on my favorite lists. I hope they will continue writing together, as I am a huge fan.

I LOVE THESE BOOKS! This was the last book in the trilogy and it was fantastic! AND Everyone Lived Happily Ever After!! I am only sorry that the story has now ended. I truly hope that these 2 sisters (The Authors) have many more books in their future!

A satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. It had more plot/action than I was expecting, and I appreciated that the authors did not belabor the Charmaine / John / Paul courtship conflict. The loose ends are all tied up with abundant revelations, albeit indulgently.

This trilogy was cut wrenching with its tragedies. I had to pause many times to catch my breath and wipe away the tears. That said the love story that twist through and ends it ,is well worth reading! I loved them!!

Final book in this series that follows a young governess, Charmaine.
Excellent finale that wraps up all the characters reasons for behaving as they had over the years as secrets are revealed.
Wish the sisters who wrote this series would write another series!!

I'm a little depressed that this the last book. I loved the family saga. I want to know what happens to the twins, and all the rest of characters. I would highly recommend this trilogy to anyone that loves a good family saga.

Really liked John and Charmaine's relationship built up from the 2nd book. This book was ok, but sad and everyone has so much problems. Didn't want to read the rest when I thought something had happened.

The ending tied it all together a bit too neatly for my liking, but otherwise I liked this book the best out of the three in the series.
