With the help of Boy Shopping, Gemma is making a new play for Mr. Right! Gemma is beautiful, black, and eternally single. If only she were as big a hit with the boys as she is on the basketball court. With so many fouls in the romance department, she's racked up way more Mr. Wrongs than she can count. But now she's decided to go on the offense and give online dating a try-and it's up to you (the reader!) to play matchmaker and pick Gemma's slam dunk... Drew isn't really a hottie, yet he's way nicer than the duds Gemma usually falls for. Dan's an artist, who may be too smart for his own good, and the story he's included with his profile melts Gemma's heart (plus he's gorgeous!). Ethan is a basketball player-a no-no in Gemma's book-but she'll soon discover that he isn't your typical jock. And Christopher is a super-cute, super-clever surfer who hooked Gemma from the start. Is he just another jerk? With all this heart-stopping action off the court, Gemma will never be stuck on the dating bench again... More fun than watching the playoffs, Like This and Like That is the second interactive novel in The Boy Shopping series that lets the reader choose who goes out on a date!

Shopping for boys? I haven't heard of that before, at least not before I chose to read this book. This book is about a beautiful African-American girl, Gemma, who's an athlete. She's good at playing basketball and all, but it doesn't seem like it when it comes to finding the right one. Now that she is relying on online dating to guide her dating life, it's the responsibility of the reader to find out who is her Mr. Right.
I like this book because of many reasons. One reason is because it seems like the reader is the publisher of a book. It's like there is a variety of parts in the book that is your choice of what to read. You can choose to read it, or you can choose not to read it. If you don't want to read it, you can choose to go to another part of the book and find something that you're interested in.
Another reason why I like the book is kind of similar to the above reason. I like it because of the structure/format it is written in. There are different choices for the reader to choose, and each of these choices is one of the guy's name. The 4 guy's names are Drew, Dan, Ethan, and Christopher. Depending on which person you're more interested in or the person you think matches with Gemma the most, you can choose that person then just turn to the indicated page and read about the experience between him and Gemma.
I also like this book because of the way Nia Stephens wrote it. I like how she allows readers to choose what they want to read within the book. This way, readers are more interested in the book because it was their selection of the boy they wanted to read about. I like her use of words because that's what helped me create an image of the scenes in my head. At times, it also makes everything that is happening more intense and when I read it, I didn't feel like this book was boring at all.
In general, I did like this book and I think that others should give this book a try, too. I would recommend it to everyone who is interested in this type of book. Ones who are already going out and have a boyfriend can read it. Ones who aren't going out and doesn't have a boyfriend can read it. Ones who aren't going out and doesn't have a boyfriend, but has a crush on someone, can also read it. This is an interesting and fun book to read, so why not give yourself a chance?
Introduction:The title of this book is Like This and Like That by Nia Stephens. Like This and Like That is a teenage romance.
Body Paragraph 1: This fiction book is about a seventeen year old senior girl trying to find the right guy by online dating. The story takes place in the beautiful state of California. Everyone there has the best designer clothes, shoes, and of course plastic surgery. Gemmma isn't consider as a popular girl but she can't go unnoticed. She's beautiful, smart, and is also one of the best players on her high school girls basketball team. Despite her good looks and talent Gemma can't find the " right guy". She always ends up dating jerks but considering that her high school beach shindig event is coming up her best friend Maria tries to help her find the right guy as a date. Maria plays matchmaker by making Gemma try online dating, and it's the reader's job to help Gemma choose the right guy by
Body Paragraph 2: Stephens uses character development as the reader see how Gemma interact with each boy. From each different dating relationship readers get to see a different side of Gemmas personality. Gemma mean girl personality comes out during one of her dates. Stephens writes, “ He looked disappointed but said, “ Okay. I’ll be right back.” Gemma exhaled as he left for the kitchen, relieved that she was finally getting a break from him. She found it difficult to believe that this was the same guy that IMd her sweet little messages all week. Had sent her rises and loved romantic poetry. She glanced around the room wishing Ashton Kutcher would jumped out from behind the coach and yell, You've just been punk'd.” (44). This shows that Gemma does have a mean side to her sweet girl personality. This also shows she wasn't willing to give her date a chance because of how she perceived him to be.
Body Paragraph 3: The text on each page was very easy to read. The reading was very easy and Stephens had really good diction and syntax in this book. This story also had a lot of good imagery and it made me relate to my high school experience and how very similar my high school life relates to the character Gemma.
Conclusion: If you’re a teenager and enjoy the high school life with it’s up and downs, and also the whole dating scene, then Like this and Like that is the best book for you to read. Not only is it a good book but it’s up to you to play the matchmaker and pick Gemma’s perfect guy.
This book gets a five star becaues not only is it interesting, and gets the reader ation, but this is a really good book for young teens to read like myself.
