An essential guide to psychic self-defense with simple practices for protecting yourself from the spiritual pitfalls of everyday life and preserving your energetic well-being.
We protect ourselves in many ways—insurance policies, locks on our doors, and so forth. But our physical safety is not the only thing that needs looking out for, so too does our psychic well-being. We all need the occasional boost to defend against unhealthy invading energies . This is particularly the case for exceptionally sensitive people or those who work as therapists or healers.
The simple and effective psychic protection tools explained in this book Also offered are advanced techniques to prepare for activities such as meditation, out-of-body experiences, and channeling.
An internationally known author, astrologer, psychic, healer, broadcaster and workshop leader, Judy Hall has been a karmic counsellor for over thirty years.
Her books have been translated into fifteen languages. Her specialities are past life readings and regression; reincarnation, astrology, psychology and natural forms of healing.
She has clients from all walks of life: the House of Lords, the European Parliament, pop singers, university professors, scientists and mystics, and people on social security.
She has conducted workshops around the world. A trained healer and counsellor, she has been psychic all her life and has a wide experience of many systems of divination and natural healing methods.
Judy has a B.Ed. in Religious Studies and an extensive knowledge of world religions and mythology. Her mentor was Christine Hartley (Dion Fortune's metaphysical colleague and literary agent). She completed her Masters Degree in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology at Bath Spa University.
This is a relatively simple and straight forward book. It is composed of brief sections (usually five pages or less) on different topics relating to psychic protection. After you've read the first five or six and grounded yourself in Judy's ideas, you could probably skip around as need be.
One of my only complaints about this book is that I wish we get a little more information. The section that really stood out to me in this regard is "The Chakras." I haven't learned a lot about chakras and I was excited to learn more here. Judy does a good job at explaining what the chakras are on a base level, as in what they are, what they do, and where each one is located. But she doesn't begin the book without explaining what each one does/represents! Some of the meanings come out later in the text, but this book would have improved if she included more information. Just a brief mention of where the idea first developed, and a sentence about what each chakra indicates would help. This is especially because later in the book we are taught to test the balance of the chakras and do other work with them.
I do wish "Walk-Ins" was extended. It's a page that deals with "possession," and basically tells us what it is and that only a professional can assist with that. I'm fine with those things, I just wish we were given more information about how to figure out if a loved one is possessed before doing that!
Other than a few topics that could have been provided a little more information, this book was very easy to understand. If you come to it with a basic new age background you should be able to "get" it. I am not sure what Judy's religious background is. The book is overall "new age" and appropriate for most people interested in that/paganism. As the cover indicates, this book has some light Egyptian influences. A few deities are mentioned and a few exercises involve the pyramids. I don't think it's something that should turn you away if you aren't an Egyptian practitioner (I'm not.)
I would have loved some more information on Judy's life, but I understand why she wouldn't include it in the book. What did she do to anger the new age leader and start the psychic war? I am not blaming her, just what in his mind did he use to excuse his actions?! And why was she burning 60 copies of a book?! I would have enjoyed some more information bout her and her experiences because she seems pleasant and interesting. I'm also interested in her line of work so I would love to learn more about that as well.
Like any good new age book, there is a huge list of correspondences in the back - I'll keep a book for good correspondences alone!
The cover is, admittedly, ugly, but Judy gives us a good reason why she wanted to use it in the book. The book is also a little dated but that's on us for reading a book that is almost 20 years old.
This book is invaluable if you are a highly sensitive person. I’ve regularly practiced meditation and kundalini yoga as well as sound baths. But a strange thing would happen: as soon as I cleared myself, I’d pick up other gunk. I suspected I was absorbing it from others after opening, but I had no idea of how to close or protect myself. As soon as I started reading this book, I the problem and quickly did some of the exercises. My energy is already better. The same for my dog. I’ve learned tools to help take care of myself. I highly recommend it!
This is a fascinating book which gives information about protecting oneself from unwanted psychic influences and attacks. It is especially useful for those who deal on a regular basis with the problems of others as the methods outlined can help prevent the person absorbing all their clients’ or patients’ problems and depleting their own energy levels.
The book lists things such as which crystals protect against what influence and what flower essences can be used for – including the universally popular Bach’s Rescue Remedy. I thought the many visualisations were interesting but if you find visualisation difficult then she gives an alternative which doesn’t use visualisation.
All these techniques can be used to protect people when going through difficult situations and to protect against influence from people the reader finds difficult to deal with. Achieving a measure of detachment from people who drain one’s energy can have a hugely beneficial effect on one’s own life. I recommend this book to anyone who needs to strengthen their psychic boundaries.
