Rate this book
More than 20 million women have trouble sleeping at night. Yet sleep disorders among women are prone to misdiagnosis and therefore mistreatment. A Woman's Guide to Sleep Disorders is the first comprehensive book written about sleep disorders in women by a leading medical expert in the field. Dr. Kryger provides a thorough overview of sleep disorders among women. He shows how to determine whether a sleep problem is a disorder, help pinpoint causes, and what can be done to help. A resource guide, sleep questionnaire, and worksheet are included to assist the reader--and her doctor--in evaluating her condition.

I am fascinated by sleep and stumbled upon this book at the library while looking for another title. Though I didn't read it cover to cover, (as I don't experience many of the ailments myself, such as narcolepsy), it validated some of the beliefs I have had about sleep and hormones, etc. It was a fairly easy read, however, some of the terminology is second nature to me relative to my area of study. Overall it was informative and answered some questions I had related to sleep :)

Useful reference material for anyone, male or female struggling with a variety of sleeping issues from insomnia to sleep apnea. The book focuses on women's issues in part (menstrual cycle and its effect on sleep, pregnancy, PMS, etc.), but most of the book would be suitable for anyone, male or female. Honestly this seemed to only be marginally a book for women, so the title may have been marketing based. For me the format was easy to skim for information that pertains to me, although I feel like I already knew a lot of what was covered here. Still a good, useful book for the most part. Also, the doctor is male, not female- not sure if it's marketing but it was unclear to me that this was a male writer. Could probably use an update too in the era of smartphones and social media, so I wouldn't recommend buying it for a library.
