I really didn't enjoy this play at all. It had it's moments where I thought this might turn around, but sadly, it never did.

As far as Godber's work goes, this is not the best but it is still fun. I would say that a lot of the humour is in the acting not really the text, there are no laugh out loud moments reading it but if you approach it with an actor's brain then there are moments when you think "I could do this and it would be hilarious"

Essentially 3 students about to leave school are putting on a play about their time at school, with all the stereotype people; the angry strict teacher, the mousy teacher, the bully, the one who never does gym class, the idealist teacher that thinks that they are not naughty, just mis-understood.

Great for character acting but not always the laugh a minute that it could be.

Read/studied for the purpose of teaching this text.
Actually very funny with relatable portrayals of an English comp school complete with teacher and student stereotypes.

This was a very fun play to perform, it was witty, clever and entertaining. Perfect for the audience to enjoy. I believe the humour was suited to those of all ages, giving silly little jokes and more adult jokes. It was a clever play, in the sense that there are only 3 actors in the whole play, many more characters but the three actors have to be able to play a range of different roles in the play. This made the play seem more like a school play, as it really was just 3 kids messing around and doing gimmicks. While preforming this play I focused very much on the teenage girl, love stricken with her teacher and doing the utmost she can to be "popular". Teenagers are so obsessed with the way that they are viewed, this perception of them takes over who they really are. I focused on this by making my character seemingly obsessed with her looks, and indulging in her new found sexuality. I very much enjoyed studying and performing this play as it resonated with me, while still being kids we are all acting as adults and desperate to prove ourselves to others. Very fun and we managed to make the audience laugh the whole way through.
