Social butterfly and a soldier in the Special Forces a match made in bed.
Red Hot & Blue, Book 3
Special Forces gave Jimmy Gordon the undercover skills of a chameleon, but nothing prepared him for Amelia Monroe-Carrington, the governor s hot, redheaded daughter. She thought she was seducing a banquet waiter, and he let her.
His next assignment pulled him from her bed and into the worst six months of his life. Images of Lia were what kept him alive imprisoned in Kosovo, and even now he s home and recovered, she s still in his head.
For her father s political career, Lia has always done the appropriate thing, right down to dating a senator s son. Her one rebellious act, an incredible night with a totally inappropriate man, ended when he disappeared. And then never called.
When they unexpectedly meet again, the pull between them is stronger than ever, tempting Lia to stop sacrificing her own happiness for the family dynasty.
This book has been previously published and has been revised and expanded from its original release.
Warning: Contains incredible one-night-stand sex hot enough to withstand time, distance, and some really nasty terrorist torture.

It all started in first grade when Cat Johnson won the essay contest at Hawthorne Elementary School and got to ride in the Chief of Police's car in the Memorial Day Parade...and the rest, as they say, is history. As an adult, Cat generally tries to stay out of police cars and is thrilled to be writing for a living. She has been published under a different name in the Young Adult genre, but released her first romance in 2006.
Today, she is a NY Times & USA Today best-selling, award-winning author of contemporary romance. A promo ho, she's sponsored real live bull riding cowboys and promoted romance using bologna.
So Trey moved at a moderate pace in the relationship department, given the circumstances anyway. Jack moved slower than a lame turtle when he finally took his eyes off Carly and fastened them to Nicky. Now, Jimmy takes off at lightning speed as he throws himself in bed with the governor's daughter the first night he meets her.
Okay, so to his credit, Lia was the aggressor. And yet, two things: One, with each book that comes in this series, I like Jack less and less. (I actually rooted for him in book one. Now I want to use him for target practice) Secondly, I'm just not a fan of the Gordon brothers at all. It's the southern drawl, I tell you. The story itself is great. The heat level is so-so. The graphic details are left out and the biggest rush is the fast pace. The characters are amusing, in a cheesy sense of the word, but you still want to smile as they find their HEA.
Jared, the youngest of the Gordon brothers is the focus of the next book and I am *still* waiting for the computer god's story! Come on! Show Matt some love!! I'll supply the bourbon.
Really, really, really short book that can be finished in just over a lunch hour:
I really liked Jimmy's story. Short, sweet, to the point. Where it loses the star... the ending. Too drippy sweet and totally unrealistic.
Onto Jared! I'm not quite sure how you're going to fit in considering you're not a member of Task Force Zeta, but hey! He's a cowboy... I like them, you know. ;)
Jimmy Gordon is the hero in Jimmy ~ Red, Hot & Blue ~ Book 3, meets Lia while working undercover as a waiter. The chemistry is instant and combustible when they meet later at her hotel room. The story has humor, friendship, great sex scenes, honor and a Marine that does his duty, politicians with appropriate nicknames and is just a good story of how two people meet and click and a relationship is born.
Though this is the third novella in this series it really runs parallel to book one, at least for a portion of the story. I thought this one as good as book one and better than book two. I like Cat Johnson's writing style and her ability to keep a story alive and interesting. This book is another example of her great talents.
I really loved this book!! I started this book and 5 hours later I was done being that I am a slow reader, I was hooked couldn't put it down. I loved the first one and like the second. Was very pleased to see that this book was better then Jack's book.
A quick and sexy read. I'm reading the series out of order, this was my first. I'd recommend this an in- between read as something light and to the point heat.
Little did Jimmy Gordon know that the lusty redhead he hooked up with was the governor's daughter. While he intended to have a repeat performance, an undercover assignment keeps that from happening. Fast forward six months and his redhead shows up at the family farm. I don't know who's more shocked Jimmy or Amelia Carrington. As you can imagine she's a tad irate that he ghosted on her. She does however, listen to his explanation. But, she has to provide one of her own when an off the cuff remark gives Jimmy the wrong idea. It's time to declare her independence because she's found the man she's been waiting for.
Jimmy is home healing from the mission that went bad and he got captured and beaten. He keeps thinking about the girl he was with the night before he got called for the mission. Little does he know she is the governors daughter and imagine his surprise when she shows up with her father at his family’s horse ranch. Another fun story!
If you don't have time for a full length novel, this is the perfect story. It's light, fun, steamy, sexy and with a happy end. Just what you need in a love story!
I wasn’t really enamored by Lia, and part of it seemed she was using Jimmy to get back at her father, but she won me in the end with her love for him<3
This was a cute and sexy story. I liked Jimmy and Lia and their story was enjoyable.
Lia is the daughter of a Governor and a nice woman. She unfortunately has gotten caught up in her father's political career, especially since her mother has had health issues that keeps her out of the lime light. Another downfall of this is that her father is trying to push her in to marriage with the son of a Senator because it would make a good political connection but Lia isn't willing to go that far.
Jimmy is a marine and works for a team that does a lot of undercover work. He and his brothers grew up on a farm but Jimmy and his brother, Jack, joined the Marines and are now on the same team. Jimmy has never had any problems getting women but has never found one to settle down with.
Jimmy and his team are tasked to go undercover as waiters at a black tie affair due to a possible security risk. Lia and Jimmy catch each other's eyes and they exchange glances multiple times. Lia slips Jimmy her number and he calls her as soon as the event is over. They meet at her hotel and have a hot night but they don't get much time together. Lia still thinks that Jimmy is a waiter when he leaves the next morning but hopes he'll call regardless. Jimmy had planned to call Lia as he found an unexpected connection with her. Unfortunately, Jimmy's team gets sent to catch a terrorist and Jimmy is sent undercover almost immediately.
After being gone about 6 months, Jimmy gets caught up in a bad situation and gets injured and sent home to recover. Jimmy has been thinking about Lia during the whole time he's been gone and thinking of her helped him get through some tough spots. He wants to call Lia when he gets back but it's been so long he doesn't feel he can. Lia has been thinking of him all this time as well. She wanted him to call her and has been on the lookout for him at every event she's attended since then. Lia liked Jimmy a lot and was definitely upset that he didn't call her again. They meet back up unexpectedly and their connection is just as strong and hot. They both want to get together in a more permanent way (yeah, it's kind of an insta-love) but have some mis-understandings to get through. They get to a good point though and the story ends with them starting their HEA.
This was an enjoyable story. It was short and therefore not greatly detailed but the story was cute and I liked the characters and how it ended. I may try more of the series in the future. :D
It seems that I have become a bit addicted to the “Red, Hot & Blue” series by Cat Johnson. Each book is fresh & different (although a bit too short in my opinion), and it would seem that “Jimmy” is no different.
“Jimmy” is set six months before “Trey”. It brings a lot of the original characters (including Carly) into play, and it gives you another insight into the dynamic between the brothers. I found the dynamic between Jimmy and Lia to be fantastic, even when he comes back into her life after six months of being held hostage by terrorists (facts that she did not know leaving her to believe he had dumped her). I did find a slight issue with their circumstances surrounding their original one night stand, wouldn’t there be security in place to keep the Governor’s daughter from taking random men into her hotel room? Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad there wasn’t as that scene really set the stage for everything to come, but it seemed like there was something missing.
I admired Lia at the end, her openness about her sexuality and her ability to go after what (and who) she wants. Also, the way she stood up for what she loved, and did what was best for her life was nicely written and easily relate-able.
My final words on Jimmy:
NEGATIVE POINTS: - Too short! I would have loved there to be more to this book. What happened after Lia moved in? There seemed to be so much potential for the characters that was left untapped. I’d love to see more about them! - I wish there would have been more details around his capture. How did it happen? What happened when he was rescued? I feel more about his rescue could have been touched on here as well.
POSITIVE POINTS: + It is a quick, easy & enjoyable read +The banter between the brothers is all too relateable. Especailly the part about being “smacked with a wooden spoon” . It made the book seem more like an actual “re-telling of events” than a “fictional story”. + I absolutely adore the “true love” theme that has been present throughout these first three books.
My Favourite of the series by far!!! But you need to read book 1...It took me a bloody age to realise there was a cross-over :D
So we begin with all the navy boys on a mission. They have to pretend to be waiting on staff at a dinner party. The mission objective is to protect the rich and important from the terrorist threats (sounds like a waste of tax money to me!) There isn't any, so Jimmy spends his time ogling Lia (AKA the hot red-head), who ogles Jimmy in return. They end up having some very hot 69 action (seriously.....its hot), and then Jimmy is sent off on mission, so ends up out of cell range for 6 months. Lia spends the time moping, because she thinks he dumped her, Jimmy spends what time he has between getting tortured falling a little in love with the image of her he has created in his head. A chance encounter means they meet up again, but will she be able to forgive him for not contacting her for 6 months? Will he be able to see the real her, rather than the idealised image he has in his head.
I loved Jimmy. Jimmy is mega hot (in one scene he tells her not to tell him "how to make love"....*swoon*) Jimmy is what I wanted Jack to be. I liked Lia too, her easy acceptance of her sexuality and of the difficulties that they may face because of her upbringing was refereshing for a female. If I had one complaint it would be that Ms Johnson had her characters doing rather naughty acts, without being overly graphic (which in some ways I applaud). Unfortunately, this just mean't I just got confused as to what was going on!
Jimmy is definately my book of the series :D Sexy, naughty and a little bit silly.....I liked.
MMMMM I do love me some men in uniform! I can't think of a better way to spend the 4th of July holiday then with a frosty beverage and the men from Special Task Force Zeta! I was so ready for Jimmy's story after reading about him in the last two books. And I have to say that I think he is my favorite...so far.
So the boys are pretending to be waiters at some big political fund raiser when Jimmy spots Lia across the room and can't take his eyes off her. Once Lia spots Jimmy the feelings are definitely mutual. Lia invites the sexy "waiter" back to her hotel room for what they both think is just going to be a hot one night stand. The next morning they both know it was so much more but Jimmy get's called in for a mission and has to leave before he can tell Lia what and who he really is.
This story worked for me on so many levels. I liked Lia, and I didn't think I would at first. At first she comes across as a spoiled rich girl still living with her daddy, but the more you learn about her character you realize there is so much more to her.
But lets be real...the whole reason we read these stories is for the men! And Jimmy was the perfect alpha male for me. He is confident and loyal and when he took control in the bedroom I was a goner. And really is there anything sexier than a man in his dress uniform??? NO!
This was a great addition to the series and I can't wait to read more!
Sexy as hell Jimmy was working an assignment at a high society party, pretending to be a waiter. Of course he caught the attention of the object of his lust at the party. A beautiful redhead that he just couldn't resist. She's not shy either and by the end of the night they are both at an exclusive hotel spending the night getting hot and naked under the sheets.
What happened after was not what Jimmy had planned. He got called in for another assignment and thrown in what would then become a nightmare for him and his team had to come rescue him. He didn't come back the same. But throughout all that, the only person he could think about was Lia.
Imagine his surprise when the governor's daughter ends up coming to his family's ranch and he comes face to face with the girl who has haunted his dreams for months. Once he explains why he never called they are right back on the saddle.
Jimmy is hot, he's everything you'd ever want to get in a cowboy in a uniform ;) And Lia is more than just a rich society girl. I loved these two together and how she was there BEFORE what happened to him, even if it was in such a small way.
67p Social butterfly and a soldier in the Special Forces 14a match made in 26bed. Special Forces gave Jimmy Gordon the undercover skills of a chameleon, but nothing prepared him for Amelia Monroe-Carrington, the governor 19s hot, redheaded daughter. She thought she was seducing a banquet waiter, and he let her. His next assignment pulled him from her bed and into the worst six months of his life. Images of Lia were what kept him alive imprisoned in Kosovo, and even now he 19s home and recovered, she 19s still in his head.
Well I find it a *little* hard to believe that the governor's daughter would be in such a position to just invite a random guy up to her hotel room. But beyond that, this was a hot, sweet story. I liked that Jimmy didn't just cave to Lia's initial demands, and that was one of the memorable things about him for her. And I liked that when they met up again, he just dove in head first, even though months (and lots of living experience for him) had gone by. I liked that she stood up to her father. I did think it was a bit insta-love though. Sure, six months had passed, but they hadn't spent any *real* quality time together that they weren't burning up the sheets. How could they possibly know it was love? Lust, absolutely. Love? A little too quick. It was still a very sweet story. I like it when a big, strong alpha dude can be nervous about meeting a girl's daddy. :-)
Great read and one I would recommend lovers of military romance add to their TBR lists.
Amelia Monroe-Carrington, better known as Lia to her friends and only daughter to the governor.
James Gordon, Jimmy to all who know him is part of Special Forces Zeta and when a mission goes bad and he is captured he is forced to take some time on the sidelines to heal.
Lia’s father believes he has her life including her marriage mapped out for her but Lia has her own ideas. Jimmy and Lia spent one night together after meeting at a functions he was working undercover and then he disappeared. Six months later Lia accompanies her father to a meeting at Gordon Equine and her and Jimmy come face to face again. The connection is still there but they both have secrets and once they’re revealed will they be able to be together and make it work.
I don't know why I keep reading this series because for all three books I've had the same complaint -- they are too short. I'm not ready for them to end, yet I keep going on to the next book. When will I learn?
I really enjoyed this book, but again wished it would have been longer. Seeing repeating characters was nice and learning about Jimmy was great. Jimmy was a sub character in books 1 & 2, so we knew about him from others' perspectives, but his is a unique story.
While I'd like to say I'm frustrated enough not to continue the series, I seriously doubt I'll be able to stay away. Series books really seem to draw me in so I'm sure I'll be reading book 4 before I know it.
Jimmy and Lia's story is much more heartbreaking than any of the others' so far.
I loved Jimmy's Southern charm, though I have to be honest and say that I did like his brother, Jack, a bit more... :D
At the rate I'm going with these books, I'm jumping off right here. I don't want to be done with the books by Sunday. So I'm throwing in a book from a different author and see where that takes me. I do love this series, and I don't want it to end this soon. I have to try to stretch these out.
This was such a quick read. It was a little hard to believe that Lia (as the Governor's daughter) could just invite someone back to her hotel. I did like how she went after what she wanted. I like it when there is a one night stand and the couple reunites and what a reunion it is in the hay room! Can someone fall so madly in love after one night of sex and no real interaction, no getting to know each other, and a 6 month separation? Apparently Jimmy and Lia can. It was a good but somewhat sappy read for me.
