When her brother disappeared, last seen leaving a forest lodge, Crysta Meyers left the big city behind her to join in the search for her missing twin. But the hazards of civilization couldn't compare to the dangers Crysta would encounter in the Alaskan wilderness--because the greatest threat came not from nature, but from man.
Someone was bound and determined to stop Crysta from finding her brother--and they would resort to any means necessary. Crysta's only ally was Sam Barrister, a rough and rugged mountain guide as untamed as the wilderness itself. But then she discovered his deception....
Librarian Note: There is more than one author in the GoodReads database with this name. See this thread for more information. (1)romance author: Adeline Catherine was born and raised in Grants Pass, Oregon, USA. She always yearned to be a writer like her mother. The morning that one of her professors asked if she could use samples of Catherine’s creative writing on an overhead projector to teach was a dream come true. In 1988, she sold her first book to Harlequin Intrigue and went on to write three more before she tried her hand at a single-title historical romance. Nine books later, she did her first single-title contemporary.
Catherine married Sidney D. Anderson, an industrial electrician and entrepreneur. They had two sons, Sidney D. Jr. and John G. In 2001 she and her husband purchased a central Oregon home located on a ridge with incredible mountain views and surrounded by forestland honeycombed with trails. It was her dream home, a wonderland in the winter and beyond beautiful in the summer. She named it Cinnamon Ridge after the huge ponderosa pines on the property, which sport bark the color of cinnamon.
Sadly, Catherine lost her husband to a long-term illness in 2014. She has kept Cinnamon Ridge as her primary residence but divides her time between there and her son John's farm, where she has the support of her loved ones and can enjoy his horses, cows, and raise her own chickens.
Catherine loves animals and birds, both wild and domestic. She presently has two Australian shepherds, six cats, and a very old canary. She is very family oriented as well. Her older son has lived in Japan, Australia, and now resides in New Zealand. Catherine and her stateside family will celebrate Christmas on the north island with Sidney, his wife Mary, and their two sons, Liam and Jonas.
This was a quick, easy read. I enjoyed Crysta and Sam and watching them come together to find Derrick. I appreciated Crysta's loyalty but also her internal conflicts over how to feel and who to trust. I thought the addition of Tip, Sam's teenage son with learning disabilities, was a good one and allowed us to see a different side of both Crysta and Sam. Both had past baggage of course--exes who had let them down and made them distrust the idea of love. Overall, though some aspects were predictable, there was still intrigue in the suspense side of the plot and Anderson brought it all to a very fulfilling and satisfying ending. I wish this were part of a series so we could see more of these characters!
This is about twins and how their connection can make them aware of each other in time of a crisis. Crysta has a dream that her brother is in serious danger in Alaska. She travels there even though they requested that she not make the trip. They believe he encountered a bear and presumably dead. She says she knows he is still alive. Good read
I enjoyed this romantic suspense novel by Catherine Anderson. The heroine has a twin with whom she shares a special twin connection. When he disappears and her dreams lead her to believe that someone tried to kill him, she goes to Alaska to investigate.
Crysta's twin brother becomes missing in the forests of Alaska. They have always had a telepathic connection via physical pains and in dreams. After Crysta's disturbing dream and physical pains she discoveres that something is wrong with her brother. Her mother convinces her to go to Alaska to find him. Her brothers best friend and owner of the lodge in Alaska that he always stayed at had informed her that they found Derrick's (her brother's) things and it looked as if it had been a bear attack and no body has been found and that he was presumed dead. Sensing that her brother was not dead and that something illegal was going on and that was the reason her brother was missing, she pursued for more searches and made many enemies in the process, but she uncovered the illegal "going-on's" and was now on a mission to find her brother either dead or a live and bring the criminals to justice, finding love along the way to a man whose "hadicapped" child had remarkable talent. It was an ok book.
I really enjoy Catherine Anderson's stories, especially when they take place in wilderness areas. This one could have had more about life in Alaska and especially on the trail, but the main protagonist was a woman of the city, used to LA and not the backwoods. At any rate, although you pretty much knew who were the good guys and who the bad from the beginning, it is a great read, and I was thrilled to get some of her out-of-prints.
Lindsey manages the BioTech Company’s campgrounds and discovers a body in one of the tents. BioTech’s new PR officer, Noah, starts asking a lot of questions. Noah is there to investigate some missing research and was to have met with the dead man. Lindsey soon figures out he’s not who he says and helps in the investigation. The story was not too complex but there were several secondary characters that were interesting and fairly well developed for a short novel.
This is an older C.A. It was a nice read. A little lite on the romance, like most of her earlier stuff. The suspense was nice and it has a satisfying ending.
