During the hard times of 1932, a poor shoe shine man gives a child his cap, gloves, and an angel made from a spool, then receives a wonderful gift in return.
An incredible story about the hard times of the depression and a somewhat hardened old man who softens at the sight of a boy who has no hat, no gloves, no socks. If ye have done it unto the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. The very last page was a little disappointing to me, only because I think they might have expressed it better. Great book!
This is a lovely tale about a generous poor man endowed with the Christmas spirit. The story is comforting and the magnificent,. child-friendly, in-your-face artwork bleeds off the pages of this over-sized picture book.
