Pamela Conn Beall was born in Omaha, Nebraska, and raised in Klamath Falls, Oregon, with two sisters and a brother. Music was a large part of her childhood, not only within the family, but as she studied voice, piano, and guitar, and sang in numerous select choirs. She graduated from Oregon State University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in music with a minor in education. After college she became an elementary school music teacher in the Portland area, taught guitar at the community college, and sang with the Norman Leyden Singers and Portland Symphonic Choir. Pam lives with her husband, Ron, in Lake Oswego, Oregon. They have four adult children.
1. None 2. Kindergarten 3. Wee Sing has many different collections of songs for children. This collection is specified to more modern day songs. It also features fingerplays that the children are able to do along with singing. 4. I’m a fan of Wee Sing. I grew up on the VHS tapes of Wee Sing so I think this is marvelous that they are still around. This collection is great since these songs have fingerplay and that really engages children and makes the song that more enjoyable. 5. I believe the children can come up with their own fingerplay that is based on these songs. They can also make up a dance for the songs to show to the school or just other classmates.

The Wee Sing brand was known during its peak to provide songbook compilations and cassettes to teach younger generations music and/or rhymes from the past as well as sometimes something newer like this book. As a result some of the songs during these bitter years are definitely not going to be received well or even considered politically correct.
Each book is a collection of poems and various brief songs, the latter which are put on musical scales for those who not only talented in singing but also in playing an instrument. And sometimes if a tune has been recycled that information has also been shared.
Being one of the original books, this one was compiled to be a go-to for when one may have forgotten the words. As a rest there are probably more chapters but very short ones to organize the book. Interspersed throughout the songs are various fingerplays and small poems that can be learned as a welcome diversion when times are a bit stressful for families.
The book does include some black-and-white illustrations that are detailed and realistic to somewhat cartoonish
All in all if you are looking to share with your younger ones healthy and mostly wholesome older songs from the past than I would highly recommend these time capsules even with all their now perceived faults.
My parents bought us "We Sing & Play" when we first came to the U.S. for a sabatical as small children and were also learning Englush (at age 4-5 you learn realy fast in preschool and surrounded with the language 😉). It was in 1987-88ish I really really loved it instantly! We used to listen too it in the car in loops with another cassett for kids that I really loved and at home look at the book and notes... when we were in the U.S the 2nd time we had it on for my baby brother- than he was a baby, just turned 1 😁 in early 90's- it was fun singing the songs to him even when we didn't hear them in the car. I've been singing those songs and teaching bits of them to children since then 😊. Over the years we also tried the notes in the book as we learned some musical instruments- that was also fun! (and educational) I was sad I couldn't find this exact version for my nieces and nephews... American Cousins of mine bought me a big "We Sing" book thinking that's what I was looking for but it wasn't the same and didn't feel the same...(it's also huge so it's uncomfortable physically).
