Not a very interesting book to read as such. If you are interested in a brief overview of the journey since the time of the Greeks to the initial colonization efforts in the Americas, this is the book for you. The language referring to the native Indians and African Americans was surprising considering this is written to serve as a textbook for students.
I did learn a lot about the explorers that found America and settled it. That is the history, not about America really, just about the people's that explored and ends with colonies possibly getting set up. I did learn a lot, just not quite what I was expecting to learn!
