This is a great informational book for elementary students on Barn Owls. The book is laid out like a story for students to read with pictures and a story line. At the end of the book there are some facts about owls and the new vocabulary students may have encountered while reading this book.
4.5 stars Wordy but very well done. Beautiful illustrations and a ton of great information. My kids loved this story and we learned a lot. Many great vocabulary words. I highly recommend this book for an owl or animal unit.
A comforting book with soft, realistic illustrations that gently teaches about barn owls throughout the seasons. A bit wordy in certain sections. Also has a glossary and additional learning resources at the back. Definitely suggest grabbing this for your shelves.
My son has a fascination with owls, particularly barn owls. We borrowed this book from our library, and even though he is 10 and it is a picture book, he loved it. The day after he read it, he repeated back to me many of the things he had learned, and talked about it for several days after that. So, I sat down and read it myself!
It really is a wonderful book - full of interesting facts about barn owls told in a story-like way as we learn the basics about how barn owls live. The author, Sally Tagholm, has really done a great job presenting interesting facts without overloading us with information or putting us to sleep! And, I have to say that the illustrations by Bert Kitchen are simply amazing. Very detailed, and just beautiful pictures perfectly complement the story.

The owl meets a mate and they live in a barn during the cold months. When spring and summer come the barn owls find food and a baby owl is born.
A gorgeous book, especially for someone who loves nature and birds. I also learned the term "owl window" from this book, so I plan on looking for them when we're near old country barns...
This is a very informative book, especially for children who have an interest in birds. It goes about explaining the life cycle of barn owls in a way that kids can understand clearly.
