For the first time in human history, we know for certain the existence of planets around other stars. Now the fastest-growing field in space science, the time is right for this fundamental source book on the topic which will lay the foundation for its continued growth.
Exoplanets serves as both an introduction for the non-specialist and a foundation for the techniques and equations used in exoplanet observation by those dedicated to the field.
If you are really into astronomy you'll enjoy this book. A bit much for me as a casual observer. I am aware of the search for planets and am always interested to hear about their discovery, but not enough to read the a whole book on the subject I fear. Hard lesson learned. I may well actually finish this one someday. What I did read was interesting though. There may be millions of planets out there, but very few will be a good fit for humans. Of course, there is always the issue of how to get there ... Interesting book in all, just too many technical details for me. Loved the history chapter! It was my favorite!
