In 2016, Eloise’s life is in ruins. Her relationship failed after her fiance’s cheating, and her job as an author is in shambles. And suddenly, she finds herself in the biggest trouble of all: traveling back in time, in the Highlands of the 1700s, with a brooding Laird keeping her prisoner…
While Jackson doesn’t believe in witches, the woman who claims to be from the future has certainly bewitched his heart. For he cannot think straight when he is around her. But will his love be enough to keep her in his time?
*The Story of his Highland Bride is a steamy Scottish Time-Traveling Historical romance novel of 60,000 words (around 300 pages) written by Maddie MacKenna and published by Cobalt Fairy.
No cheating, no cliffhangers, lots of steam and a happy ending.
I absolutely loved the characters and storyline so much. Except for the Village Idiot (he shall remain nameless)! Eloise and Jackson found such true happiness. Grandmother Lorraine was just the best and I’m so happy she was living a longer life. This story was so good. I had thought she was back in her time but was thrilled she didn’t go back. Her ex was a jerk and she wasted 7 years with him. I’m also happy that she was writing stories to share every Friday night with her clan. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜💜💜😊😊😊😊😊
The Writer and The Laird Enchanting and Romantic ! Capturing you in there Journey you are mesmerized by this tale.. Emotionally giving you tingles and tears. On top of that there is many other things . An Evil Priest hunting witches, danger, guilt, family obligations, letting go of the pasts, and doing what is best for yourself. Who wouldn’t want to go to the ends of the world to find there True Love or Soulmates ? Eloise Longman and Jackson Buchanan Laird of Faulkner met when she arrived in his time of 1701 from 2016. A surprise for both. She a writer trying to mend a broken heart. He a Laird with grief in his. Eloise and Jackson are a couple that just make you fall for immediately. Call it Magic ! Or perhaps Just a Great Story that Maddie MacKenna has written us.
Eloise is trying to get inspiration for her book. She was suppose to have turned in part of it weeks ago. But with a broken hear holiday season approaching she cant seem to get it written. What she gets instead when she goes to the Clava Cairns is thrown back to 1701. Where they burn witch’s. She is lucky Jackson is who found her on the road and didn’t turn her into the priest. He doesn’t trust her but takes her to his castle to be safe. How do you explain yourself when your from 2016. Thru do share grief it is a hard time of year for him from loss as well. As they gradually get feelings how can that work out when she isn’t safe in this time. I received an arc for a honest review. All her tune travel books have been wonderful
This book was amazing, just wonderful and timeless. Eloise has had her heart broken and has run to the Highlands to nurse her broken heart and hopefully get the pages written for her editor. Deciding to check out the view before turning in, she comes upon the area she was told about, she stumbles upon a rock formation. Jackson suddenly sees a woman in the road, speaking oddly and not very sane. He takes her back to his castle to figure out who she is. This is a wonderful story that keeps you glued to the pages to the end and beyond!
Eloise trying to find inspiration and deal with her loss and broken love life goes to Scotland in 2016 only to find herself thrown back in time to 1701. Jackson the Laird of that time and place is also in a low time of the year due to the loss of his parents many years back. They begin a journey together that is a true love story of the ages. Though there is a large obstacle in the way in the manner of the priest…must read the story to see how things turn out for all.
I always enjoy reading McKenna's books ,, The fantasy and romance That I love to read and books. The characters are always well written well rounded And easily Feel like you know them. The story the stories have a Evil and working through different situations plots.. Most of all they have heart Heroine. In this case the book was a light read an easy evening kind of book. I like how the author took her bad circumstances And with it into a good and wonderful kind of life even though very backward. Couldn't what more from a book and I got it.
A little hard to read at times but I throughly enjoyed this story of going back in time to find the one you love. I can understand Eloise not wanting to return to the year 2016. Even those 1701 was much harder time to live in if you compare it to all the amenities found in 2016, but nothing compares to finding love when you have no one to return to in the year 2016. Love conquers all. I’m happy to know Jackson and Eloise had a happy ending.
Determined to find a way back to her time, Eloise will do whatever she needs to in order for her to get home to 2016. Falling in love with Jackson, the Laid of the clan, was not part of the plan. Giving the priest who has been burning innocent young girls calling them witches a piece of her mind and a broken nose did much to buster her status at the castle. Fun and interesting reading.
I love the stories of this author, weaved until your immersed in the mystery and intrigue, I am confused as to how many women actually carry their birth control pills in they're bag? I always kept mine in the bathroom cabinet, so it is just a observation, I love the happy endings
This story really had me from the beginning. As time travel romance goes this is a very good story. The story is descriptive along with characters that I connected with. The setting is spot on for that time frame where women were burned at the stake as witches, and I found myself in Eloise corner cheering for her to find happiness. I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.
Eloise is from 2016 and while on a trip she gets transported back in time where she falls for a laird and he falls for her There is a evil priest that is burning women as a witch and she plans to return home but the tables turn and she finds happiness Wonderful book
This is a well written time travel romance with strong characters in Eloise and Jackson. The author does a great job taking you back to 1701 Scotland and weaves a story of true love. Her scenes are painted perfectly and she delivers a fantastic story. Loved and recommend this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Eloise comes to the highlands to get over a heartbreak and goes through the stones to 1710 and finds herself at the castle of the Laird. They both fall in love even though the priest wants to burn her as a witch they prevail. Good quick reading feel good story.
Eloise had lost her betrothed and was in the Scottish highlands to feel sorry for herself when a group of birds were there watching her. The next she knew she was back in time and almost run down by a horse and rider with a sword,
Loved this enticing lo e story! Always fun to see how Maddie brings in future to the past. Burning people different as witches is people's ignorance. Good co inclusion to end that practice in their clan! Loved these characters! Hated to leave!
There is nothing I disliked about this book. I loved the time and the romance. The characters were amazing and their love for each other was beyond beautiful! I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a great adventure.
Love the series. Great stories, great imagination. Couldn’t put them down. Read them in less than three days. Highly recommend if you like try time travel stories. Maddie Mac Kenna is a great storyteller.
This book was a delight! Characters had enough development, hero and heroine were perfectly paired, and the villain caused just enough grief to deserve his inevitable end. Whoever reads this will be very satisfied!
If you love time travel, you will really enjoy this book. The characters are relatable, the plot is engaging, the historical references are spot on and the ending was great. Excellent read.
This plot actually wrote itself. A girl from the future loses everything. She gets trapped in a time vortex and sent back to the early 1700's where witches are burned at the stake. Happens to stumble upon the Laird who tries to save all the women the priest tries to burn at the stake. Ah, love is in the air! This story is actually well-written and the characters well-developed, even our anger-filled, woman-hating priest. Rejection leaves a mighty deep mark on small-minded people. Those of us who are wisdom filled, know better and move on with our lives embracing love.
