Dauntless Triumph: The Third Novel in the Alan Ericsson Series

Rate this book
Only a month after the first aircraft carrier battle in history, another even bigger carrier clash looms between the US and Japan as war rages in the Pacific. Lieutenant Alan Ericsson pilots a dive bomber [DF1] aboard the USS Yorktown, the sole carrier to return from the previous battle, still bearing the scars of that conflict. American forces have an ace in their Alan’s wife Jennifer and other codebreakers have discovered Japan’s plans. But the US Navy’s damaged Yorktown and two other carriers are outmatched by Japan’s four.

A victory could turn the tide of war in America’s favor. A defeat could spell doom for its Pacific forces—and perhaps for the entire free world.

Good details

I’ve read a lot about Midway, some from participants who were @ USNA when I was a Mid. While this has the typical cliches and a love story, the underlying facts about the People and events were on target. It read well, light and interesting.

Worth the long wait

Great view of Midway from the pilots view. There is so much out there from the strategic view, nice to see a more human point of view.
