Abu Rayhan Bironi is regarded as one of the greatest scholars. He expanded on the work of Khwarizmi and was well versed in physics, mathematics, astronomy, and natural sciences, and also distinguished himself as a historian, chronologist, and linguist. Bironi produced a list of his work when he was about 60 years old. Nevertheless, he lived well into his seventies. Some of his surviving works are not mentioned in his list. The total of his manuscripts is around one hundred forty-six titles. Almost half of his work was on astronomical and mathematical subjects. Only a limited number of his work, about twenty-two titles, has survived. Only ten books of his twenty-two titles are published in English.
