Taking Flight

Rate this book
The Storm Crows are facing down the monsters who destroyed Megan’s cousin. Unable to sit on the sidelines, Megan dives undercover in a high-stakes operation, landing in the crosshairs of a terrifying crime lord … and right beside the one man who knocks her off-kilter. And who ghosted her. It’s fine. She’s got villains to seduce, a cover story to memorize, and no time for his nonsense. Or his soulful blue eyes.

Grim knows he’s got a lot to make up for. He’s been so busy finding missing girls in Kansas City, he let go of his life—and the woman he loves—back home. When Megan arrives in KC for the take-down, Grim realizes his heart is on the line—along with his place in the club. But she’s not his ol’ lady. What can he do? Win her back, obviously.

And then Megan vanishes into the night…

Grim and Meagan

I really enjoyed this book with all of the steam and action but I wished that I would have read the other books in this series first to understand a few things better. This is another MC romance to get your hands on.

The book was pretty wordy, especially the 1st 26% and I struggled a bit to get into it and continue reading. I stopped and switched books a couple times but I'm pretty stubborn about getting through books and eventually things picked up and it got more interesting and easier to stick with. Both the characters were flawed and theyre not the usual couple you get introduced to and love separately and together right off the bat. Not to say I didn't root for this couple but I definitely had my issues with them as a couple and as individuals. Megan aka legs kind of annoyed me. Her idealism about the situation she was getting into was very skewed as well as her reasoning. She was so blaze and flippant about the situation that although youre thankful she didn't experience the horrors others have, you wanted her to experience more than she did to understand it wasn't a game, she put herself in a bad situation without taking how serious is was into account and having training and plans in place. Also so she could really have an understanding of what other woman and Ash and Jenna had to deal with. She also seemed to have a unhealthy obsession, for lack of better term, with Jenna. "Jenna's a B, Jenna's unnaturally pretty", even her reason to do the dangerous situation was, "Jenna can't 1 up me and be more useful than me". It made you roll your eyes and want to turn it into a drinking game everytime she mentioned Jenna. And not to say she wasn't bad, i haven't read the previous 2 books and read this as a standalone, but we didn't see that side in this one, especially when Jenna seemed to try to extend a olive branch and apologized in the beginning so I'm like girl get over it. Grim had his own annoying qualities, but I was more annoyed with his relationship with his kid than anything. He was so passive about her and even when questioning what would happen if he ended up with full custody, instead of wanting that, being ready and willing to do whatever it takes, and wanting to make the most of spending time with her, it felt like his kid was a secondary thought. To the club and to what was happening with Megan. Joker and Ash seemed more like her parents, It made me side eye him. Grim and Meg both were stubborn and wishy washy with their feeling and trying to work things out between them to have a real and healthy relationship, but you could see despite that there was a connection there when they didn't have their heads up their butts. The editing needs work. The transitions between pov was messy and congested. Half the time you missed the pov changed and you got confused. There needs to be a separation not just with paragraphs but better spacing and stars by the name or something. Overall although things got pretty muddled at times, it's a decent book with a good plot. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

H/h: Grim and Megan

POV: 3rd person

Genre: MC romance

Heat level: steamy

Standalone?: pretty confusing at first if you haven’t read previous books in series

Cliffhanger?: N

HEA/HFN: Y

Triggers: Violence, explicit love scenes, language, trafficking, drug use, implied s. assault (off page)

This book never really gelled for me. I hadn’t read the first two books in the series, and the exposition was so fast and confusing that by the time I figured out what was going on, the action was moving and I felt like I had to play catch up. Also, the buildup to the romance may have been in one of the previous books. Having more buildup in this book would have made the couple’s chemistry hotter.

It wasn’t a bad book. There was a lot of action and it certainly wasn’t boring. It just wasn’t my favorite. YMMV.

This definitely had a strong storyline with a plethora of colorful strong characters nonstop action twists turns and a few surprise's thrown into keep things moving forward Megan and Crow complimented each other while remaining true to their personal convictions as their happiness and future are put in jeopardy as they work to dismantle the trafficking ring . I will say I wish I had read the two prior books in this series so I didn't feel like I was playing catch up on the major characters and on going dynamics within the club. I will backtrack and read the series from book one for the full experience.

I loved the stuffing out of this book! The main romantic characters of Megan aka Legs and Grim went together perfectly and the heat between them was off the thermometer! I thoroughly enjoyed all the characters in the Storm Crows MC, you could tell that there was a great camaraderie and shared history between them. It was at that point that I realised that there must have been a couple of books before this one, so now I will have to get both books to catch up on the happenings and shenanigans and then read this one again! The high heat level was much appreciated!

Received as an ARC and leaving my honest review voluntarily. Note the trigger warning before reading as there is mention of drugs, violence, sex trafficking so may be an issue for sensitive readers. I haven't read the earlier books so went in a little lost but the author did a great job setting the plot, back story and who's who. I was still a little lost but not bad enough to distract from the story, which was fast paced, had action and intrigue with a good mix of steamy moments, funny ones and scary ones too. I was engaged and turning pages wanting to know what happens next and wanting to know if Grim (Ryan) and Megan will get their HEA.

Grim is trying to save the kidnapped women when Megan goes undercover and gets into trouble. This time it leads her into his path, but he doesn't know if he can get everyone out safely. Will they be able to find a way to get everyone to safety? Will they still want to be together?

This is a great story that will draw you in from the first chapter on. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.

Grim and Megan’s story has him leaving to go to Kansas to look for kidnapped women. He figures out that he left everything up in the air at his hometown including the one he loves and his MC. Now she shows up where he’s at undercover but when she vanishes, he will not run this time but track down whoever took her. This was another good story for this mc series.

I loved it!
It is the first book I read by this author. And it surprised me in a big way, the story is good, appealing to our vengeful side against human trafficking. Men are amazing and women are incredibly strong.
The beginning is a bit tangled with so many facts and names. It would have been ideal to read the other books before. 4.5.

Confusing

When I started reading this book, I was just totally confused and had no idea what was going on in the book. It had been a while since I read the last book and it took me about a quarter of the book before I remembered what previously happened. I liked the characters and plot. There were some good twists and turns plus action and suspense, but the storyline was just confusing. Hopefully the next book will be easier to read and follow.

Megan desires to take action and goes undercover rather than sit on the side lines, this forces Grim to realise what he left behind and lost but can hebwin her back, or lose her forever? Well written engaging steamy action and more, a great addition to the series.

While I enjoyed this book, I would have liked it better if I had read the first two in the series as I felt there was information that was missing. I will need to go back and read the first two in the series before the next chapter in the Storm Crows MC series.

I happen by this author and series by accident and I am so glad I did. Even though I had never read the books before this one I still was able to mostly figure out the main things I needed to know. I fell in love with these characters. I am throwing down my device right now to find more because I am addicted. Can’t wait for more.

Both Grim & Megan seem to be in denial. The plot was okay. It took a while to get into the story. A whole mess of emotions & loss to get over to move forward.

I think you need to have read the previous stories in this series to really understand what it going on. I enjoyed the story but felt I was missing a bit and it took a while to really get into it. But overall pretty good read.
