Building a crew of mech drivers isn’t easy. So of course that is exactly what Breaker needs to solve a deadly mystery and stop a galactic war.
The attrition during recruit training can reach ninety percent for those who pass the initial tryout. Still on the move and in search of answers that could doom the Alliance of Planets, Benjamin Wrath and his APOP crew must scrape up candidates from the villainous, disreputable spaceports along the way.
What could possibly go wrong?
Everything is on the line now. When they rescue children stolen by a mysterious new threat, the countdown to the invasion they’ve tried to stop accelerates.
At the end of the day, their enemies won’t be who or what they expected.

Although Defender is more military sci fi than police procedural, the worldbuilding, characters, and thrills made this story a definite page-turner. The non-human sapients are well-written and amazing (ok, some were horrific). I really like Wrath, his crew, and Regina, and I'm looking forward to more of their adventures.
One of the best books I have ever read. Hard to put down. I have read the series, awaiting the last book in the series to show up. I already purchased it, hard to wait to read the rest. Really well written books by this author! I thoroughly enjoyed them, and appreciate the author writing them for all to read. I have always enjoyed well written stories about humans and aliens fighting and working together. They make the best stories to read in my opinion. I like the interactions that happen, and t he learning of each other types of beings that goes on, along with the human interactions, and the learning that we are all just trying to survive, especially those trying to survive traveling in space, and not losing themselves to other beings in the process. I must admit, I got thoroughly enthralled in the crew, and the expanded crew, and hope the next book can hold up to that same flare, and experiences, and toughness, and togetherness of the crew. Again, I want to say Thank You for writing these, and I look forward to reading the next book in the series. Finished reading last night at about 11:45pm, 02/17/2023.
The mission to get two Avians and all the breakers back together hots up!
Ben has obtained the twin Avians who will allow for communication with the Ultra race. He now wants to regain his breaker friends and work out who the twins should go to! His breaker technician, Snow has also joined the crew as the search for the remaining breakers and the Artifacts continurs. More is uncovered about the apparent pending breakdown of space travel , and they run into the Helm, who are technologically advanced and can help rebuild their ship. A new race, the Sterling is uncovered who appear to declaring war on everyone they meet.... THere's adventure, suspense, mystery, intrigue, fighting, politics, A tv series, and much more in this novel as we follow the camaraderie of Ben's crew - both temporarily adopted or permanent- as they traverse the pitfalls (and politics) of life in the Andromeda galaxy.
This series just keeps getting better! There is plenty of action which requires planning, staging execution if you have time. If not, draw on experience from others, then go with your gut! Remember to strap In because it’s going to get intense. Did I mention that other than your crew, you don’t know who you can trust, including your immediate supervisor, or the agency head or any other agency or politician!
Wrath and the crew are just trying to solve another case when things get interesting and their job becomes trying to stop an interstellar war before it starts. Along the way they encounter good guys and bad guys and get help from unexpected places. A great story.
Very interesting series, somehow I got behind in it and have the next book as well. I enjoyed all the different types of aliens and they probably don't look at all like I have them pictured in my head!
