This book sucks. There is no nuance, the perspectives are severely lacking, and there were parts that were straight-up offensive. For example, calling non Christians "backwards peoples" on page 150, in a paragraph that is sugarcoating missions and colonialism to a shocking degree. Also, on page 149, the book provides some half-baked counterarguments to criticisms of the Church, including one that the Church is "an exterminator of Jews." Despite this, on page 38, the book writes of the biblical Jewish peoples "the part the Jews themselves have played in their own history is always derivative and often embarrassingly unimpressive." The paragraph continues, calling the Old Testament the "centuries-long story of the Israelites' obstinate failure." There were also many claims made without any sources, and the references page of the book only lists about five texts. Generally, wouldn't recommend
