This book, with the legendary leader King Arthur, shows you how to transform a geographically distributed team that's falling short of its goals, into a "virtual work group" that gets results.
This is one of my favorite leadership books. It follows the discussion of a modern day distance manager with the ancient King Arthur. As it turns out, King Arthur was the first successful distant manager and has much to teach the modern leader.
The metaphor of King Arthur is broken down into the following: Excalibur - Building Trust The Round Table - Building Unity The Joust - Creating Team Interaction Camelot - Establishing a Vision Lancelot - the Power of Relationships Merlin - Communicating across a distance
Each of these symbolic elements is described in ways to make clear how they can be used for modern leadership of teams which are co-located or at a distance.
Reading this book only takes a few hours and I must tell you, the ending is terrific!
Still reading. Gives some good insights on managing team across several sites. Story interesting (analogy with King Arthur bringing his knights together) but it builds very slowly.
