The Lockdown Lectures: Stories from Northamptonshire's rich and turbulent history

Rate this book
Originally started as a way of entertaining and informing the Northamptonshire battlefield Society’s Facebook Members during the Coronavirus lockdown, the posts became very popular and saw a massive increase in Facebook Membership as the posts were shared widely across heritage groups in Northampton and wider. After a while it seemed to us that their popularity deserved something more than an ephemeral existence on Social Media. So here they are, all of what were initially called “Lockdown History” posts, some slightly updated and edited, together with illustrations and maps, as a sort of reminder of what happened and how we dealt with it, when it seemed like the end of the world was coming in 2020. Lead by the Society’s Chairman, Mike Ingram, this volume contains contributions from other Society members with a passion for local history, and is a unique compendium of both well known and just plain odd stories from Northamptonshire’s history.

This is a revised version of the original 2020 publication, which includes a tribute to the Society's founder, Mike Ingram, after his untimely death in December 2021.
