I'm going to rant about skepticism first since the author is one of those people who claims to be a skeptic and telling you to research and stick to the facts. He even promotes research and facts in the first ghostly tale which is lacking with many authors of ghostly tales. So imagine my surprise when in one ghost story the author claiming to have captured a real ghost on film. He posted two photos of a house and claims that one of them has a ghost of a woman looking out the window. The photos of the two houses are from different angles so in one you can't see a lot of the window that is seen in photo two with the ghost. You can tell in photo one that the window you can see is slightly open so the ghost could just be the curtains open. Then the author says he can see the ghost so clearly he describes her dress which is the same description a witness told him about. The photos are black and white and all you really see is a dark area that is a shadow or open curtains. I never understand these so call skeptic who has something happen that they can't explain has to be a ghost. If that's all it takes to become a believer then you probably weren't actually a skeptic.
I did enjoy some of these stories but there were some I didn't and there was many that were boring. There is a lot of small issues including editing, spelling mistakes repeating things . Still I would guess that this book is probably more for the people who love Great Lakes history or tourist.

A fun collection of lighthouse and shipwreck stories. Easy to read one chapter at a time and set down. Some chapters do feel like their padding the word count, but overall interesting and worth reading if you're interested in lighthouses or Great Lakes history

I’ve read many lighthouse books but this was a compelling read. Written with such insight and personality while learning and retaining a bunch of new information.

Another of the books I’ve purchased while on a trip that never got finished once I arrived home. General untold stories of earlier times on and around the Great Lakes.
