The root of psychological and biological disease is spiritual. Author Henry W. Wright not only equips

the church with respect to defeating sickness, but he also

demystifies it by showing, from God's perspective, why

mankind has disease in the first place.

A More Excellent Way is a valuable resource in assisting

spiritual leaders, health-care professionals, and all

individuals in understanding the spiritual dynamics behind

diseases of the body, spirit, and soul.

Henry W. Wright is the president and founder of Be in Health Global. He was exposed to the power of spiritual healing at an early age when his mother was miraculously cured of terminal cancer and a fatal tumor that was wrapped around her jugular vein. Today, Wright is committed to the belief that human problems are fundamentally spiritual, with associated physical and psychological manifestations. With his pre-med background and insights into the medical as well as the spiritual aspects of disease, he brings a fresh perspective to the process of ministering to the sick. He has presented seminars worldwide and across broad denominational lines for a number of years and is a frequent guest on many well-known television and radio programs.

Becuase I was so sick, I attended this program personally several times.
I did not get healed (but I sure hoped I would)
but that is not why I do not recommend it.
(Only God can promise healing so I do not hold it against this ministry that
I was not healed)

I say stay away from the program
because It is WAY OFF the mainstream Christian path.
I was so excited to find an answer to sickness that I
didn't pay attention to this man's theology.

A more excellent way sounds good to start with
but if you start comparing it to mainstream Christian
teachings you will find the teachers philosophies quite askew.
The program seems to be centered around the teachers "special revelations"
he has received from God. (Joseph Smith anyone?)

It took me going thru the program 3 times to fully
comprehend just how many bizarre teachings I was hearing.
The errors are subtle but profound!
And as a Christian, I noticed that Jesus is not
emphasized in anyway in this program.
I was pretty shocked when it finally dawned on me that Jesus gets a
passing mention and that is about it.

Also, it was several years apart that I attended the "seminars"
And they had changed drastically from visit to visit.
So, I think they are "working" out their information as they
go. I think the gospel is set in stone and needs nothing new added
or taken away.

But he sure has his devotees...blind followers if you will.
I think just because someone has a "cult" following
does not necessarily make them right.

BTW, someone in a review called him a Dr.
To my knowledge and according to his websites information,
He is just a regular guy with no education.

I would beware and wary of this program book and teaching.
But if you have already drank the kool aid...you won't listen anyway.
I know I wouldn't have listened either...when you are sick, you
will try anything to be well.

One of the top 10 books that I have read in my life.

Christians have for too long neglected supernatural healing because many of them operate from the mind rather than from the heart. As a result, they try to follow a formula that does not work because they have not considered the roots of illness. When healing does not happen, they blame God, saying that it must not have been His will in that circumstance for the person to be healed. Instead, they would be better off if they realized that they simply presumed that they could recite words and cause healing to happen. Using presumption (faith in their minds) instead of faith in their hearts caused either healing not to occur or even worse, to have the person trying to minister healing become a victim of the same demons, like the sons of Sceva (Acts 19:11-20) Read "Faith or Presumption" by Kenneth Hagin to understand the major reason behind faith failures.

I struggled with many major problems as a result of a serious accident. I went to doctors, hospitals, churches, prayer lines, etc. with some improvements.

But after attending a week long workshop in Thomaston, Georgia, under Henry Wright, I received faster and more effective supernatural healing than from any other source. I read this book before I attended the workshop.

It all made sense. For example, emotions that God says are harmful, such as unforgiveness and bitterness, will actually have negative physical effects on the human body such as producing hormones that overactivate organs and lead to physical illness. Following the instructions in the Bible to remove these emotions and substitute healthy emotions will bring healing. These negative effects can be measured quantitatively in the body.

However, Wright also deals with how sin, including unhealthy emotions, can open the door to demons which then take over the parts of the body associated with those emotions. Healing happens much more easily when these demons are removed and the doors closed to prevent those demons from returning.

What if you do not believe in demons and think this is a bunch of "poppycock"? :) Well, when you remove the harmful emotions and substitute them with healthy emotions, the demons no longer have the right to remain or they find their task much more difficult. So they leave without you having them cast out or going through deliverance. You might not even have known that they were there.

So why go through casting out of demons? Because they recognize authority and they leave much faster and with fewer problems when in the presence of someone who accepts the 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit given to believers who are filled with the Holy Spirit. I would rather have a person with a powerful gift assist me than go through this myself.

For people who want to check this out further, read Acts 2:4 (being filled with the Holy Spirit is subsequent to be being born again.) Read Mark 16:1-18 (Jesus' last instructions to His disciples included casting out demons.) Read 1 Cor 12 (which lists the 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit available to all believers, including discerning of spirits, healing and miracles.)

There are many examples of both Jesus and the disciples casting out demons. https://bible.knowing-jesus.com/topic...

You can choose to believe whatever you want and to reject or accept whatever you want from the Bible. But you really cannot choose to say that casting out spirits was not done by Jesus and not done by believers and not available for us today. Casting out spirits is found through the New Testament.

Sadly, Christians are more ignorant in commanding demons to obey them than some people involved in witchcraft who summon demons through curses and cause them to do evil. Many people involved in witchcraft and the occult know that demons are real. But some Christians prefer to bury their heads in the sand and pretend that demons are not real. Instead they turn to science and pharmaceutical drugs to fight some problems that are more easily and quickly dealt with using the principles in this book.

When I was at the workshop in Georgia, I was amazed to see people who were healed of environmental sensitivity and other incurable problems who were actually sent there by doctors who had no more alternatives.

The book is very scientific. You could receive healing from its principles whether you accompanied the principles with prayer, but prayer makes it a lot easier to obtain and hold on to your healing.

This book and workshop changed my life.

My aim is to try to review this book as objectively and reliably as possible. The way I will do this is by including quotations from the book itself so that you can may your own mind up about it.

1. Could this book be useful? Well, maybe: as long as the testimonies in there are trustworthy and not faked then yes. If anyone was healed by this book that would, of course, be a good thing and I hope that is the case. There are some important issues with this book though.

2. Is this book prosperity gospel? Quotations: “God’s perfect will is not to heal you; His perfect will is that you do not get sick” (preface and repeated several times), “That is the gospel I preach. If someone is not healed, there is a spiritual root and there is a block that has to be dealt with. There is a root problem that gives the devil a right to your life.” (pg 34) This sounds to me like prosperity gospel.

3. Does this book discriminate against ill people? Quotations: “If it was finished and the penalty of the curse was paid, and you call yourself a believer yet you have a disease you must not be born again.” (pg 78). “Everyone who is ministered to does not get well. There are reasons for that…””…it is my observation that God is first interested in our sanctification as a prelude to healing and deliverance. We would not honor Him and we would not serve Him because He would have condoned evil in our lives. Do you really respect anyone who condones evil in his or her own life? Think about it!” (pgs 252-253).”…Diseases coming out of bitterness and unforgiveness are diseases unto death…””… Cancer is a disease unto death coming out of bitterness.” (pgs 338-9). Wright asks us not to respect people who remain ill, considers them not born again and even puts their salvation into question.

4. Questionable interpretations of the Bible: Wright considers that Job was ill because of his fear: “But in Job’s life there was a spiritual root problem…God had no choice but to let Job be sifted so he could be purified at this level of the testing…….For this thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid is come unto me.” (pg 239) The author neglects what God says about Job: “Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil. And he still maintains his integrity, though you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason.”” (Job 2:3). If there were no reason behind Job’s suffering, it does not make sense to consider it a spiritual root problem. Isn’t that the point of the book of Job? That God “causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” (Mt 5:45)?

5. Is this book pseudoscience? Dictionary definition: “a collection of beliefs or practices mistakenly regarded as being based on scientific method.” Pseudoscience looks like and often claims to be scientific. Does this book claim to be scientific? Yes – 2x on the back, 1x on the inside page and 1x in the preface. The first impression it wishes to make is that it is scientific. Quotation: “Henry Wright has used modern scientific methods to research…” It is then either scientific or pseudoscientific.

Unfortunately the author does not clearly document his method as a scientist would. If this were a scientific work, there would be a chapter dedicated to the methodology. In short, Wright uses a medical manual to “solve” the spiritual problem of the disease. Sometimes there is only one case and sometimes this case does not even result in healing. The scientific method requires reproducible and statistically significant data. This is not what you see here. A good example of this can be found in his YouTube video on Parkinson’s: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gjSM....

In addition to this there are a few "alternative medical facts" in here, such as alcoholics being allergic to alcohol and asthma not being caused by pollen, but by fear, to name a couple.

The author also claims that 80% disease has a spiritual root as if this is a fact: “We know that 80 percent of all disease has its origin in the spirit level” (pg 110). It states, however, on page 26 “I would say that probably 70 to 80 percent of all disease in America and in the world, with the name syndrome or incurable attached to it has a spiritual root.” This is, therefore, the gut feel of Henry Wright and not fact or reliably determined statistics, which further confirms that this is non-scientific.

6. The Author held a PhD from Chesapeake Bible College, which is accredited by a fake accreditation agency. Wright wrote that illness is the result of a spiritual problem, he himself unfortunately died due to heart disease. If his theories were true, why then did he die due to illness? This we will never know, I do, however, hope that he is now with the Lord.

This book is a toxic combination of prosperity gospel, discrimination against ill people and pseudoscience. If, however, one person were healed by it, it had some use despite its noxious nature. Do not give up on hope for healing, but be careful with a book such as this.

Environmental Illness and Chemical Sensitivity people listen up. I need to start this review carefully because I don't want to lose anyone reading it immediately. Atheists, Jews, Christians, Hindus, and Buddhist have been healed by using the techniques and principles in this book. Point blank, this book is about illnesses of all kinds and their spiritual roots. Henry Wright has a Christian healing ministry that is Pleasant Valley Church in Thomaston, Georgia that is directly responsible for the healing of numerous EI/MCS patients to complete wellness. In addition to all the other people with other illnesses that have been healed.

In all the years, and all the people I have spoken to during the production of my film, I have only known one person who was healed of Environmental Illness/Chemical Sensitivities and she is at about 95%. Yet, I have spoken to one person and read the stories of numerous others completely healed from using the techniques in this book.

Two of the people who were healed wrote books A New Song for Marcia and Out of Many Waters. I'm posting those reviews immediately after posting this one. It is their story out of EI/MCS hell. I've been applying these principles and I have seen considerable improvements in my own health over the last couple of weeks. They have an online program http://www.beinhealth.com and there is also another group using the same principles http://journey2wholeness.org/.

a compilation of reasons why people are sick, spiritual and emotional roots of particular conditions and diseases, put together from years of experience praying for sick people. Dr. Wright's ministry team discovered through revelation and results, a lot of the reasons why we get sick and stay sick, and what seemed to work to accomplish supernatural healing. Don't read it if you don't want to do the hard work of self-confrontation. BE sure to apply it to yourself before you read it to learn how to pray for others.

Basically, I never saw Jesus delve deeply into inner-healing, but we're still amateurs at this healing stuff, so whatever works, for now, is better than not praying for healing at all. Perhaps a time will come when our prayers will need only be "short, sweet and immediately successful" as Jesus' were!

We refer to his book on occasion in our ministry but over all I believe He uses scripture out of context at times and has stated that Jesus is "all" man. Well, Paul states that we knew Him as man while here with us but now He is resurrected and is spirit. Also, he has stated that Jesus wasn't there in our traumatic moments....that doesn't sound like an omnipresent God. I think Wright has some truth but you'd better do your homework on the scriptures to test this man's application of them.

The scriptures tell us things that are painfully clear already, such as 'We see through a glass darkly". No man on earth has the whole picture yet. We won't know - even as we are known - until we are with Jesus Christ.. a soon event!

Henry Wright is one of the few who have dedicated himself to searching out truth. Is everything he writes and practices 100% correct? No. Which makes him no different than any other man who has sought truth and taught it. If we waited to have ministers who knew it all perfectly, none would minister to us.

I have not only read Wright's book "A More Excellent Way", I have used its tremendous truths to heal myself and help others heal themselves. I have put the book in front of myself a few years ago when I suffered severe shoulder pain which was growing increasingly worse to where I couldn't pick up a cup of coffee. I asked the Lord to use the book to show me what was wrong.

He took me to the page where Henry described, 'Osteoarthritis' as being a result of self guilt and bitterness. Which emotions described exactly the litany of negative self assaults I'd been suffering since I had learned of the suffering and death of an acquaintance. I felt like 'had I tried' I might have saved her life. That's the short story. Anyway, unforgiveness, even against yourself, is sin. I realized what was happening, and did 2 things immediately ,.. I forgave myself and asked the Father to forgive me for the anger I held against myself. The pain in my shoulder disappeared and has never returned.

I have 3 sisters who are not Christians. They punished me unmercifully in this life with their antagonism towards me, for my faith. Though I have been 'there for them' whenever they needed my help, they have not only refused to help me but have assembled themselves against me time and again. I have felt like David who cried against, his own dear friend who was as an enemy, though he had been in sackcloth when the friend had been in trouble. You know the story. Well, one day my youngest sister happened to mention to me her back pains, and said that 'It's degenerative disc syndrome; mom had it too; all of us have it". Referring to not only our other 2 sisters, but to me as well. I said to her, "No I do not have degenerative disc syndrome".

But I went to Henry's book and looked up 'degenerative disc syndrome' to see what his experience and the holy spirit had taught him about the disease. There it was - he wrote that the disease apparently afflicted people who 'refused to support others, though they had the ability". !!! Which was exactly a description of the lives of my sisters. My back, in fact, is perfect! At 58 years of age I have no afflictions whatsoever. I never get sick, and unlike my 5 siblings have had no surgeries and for the most part have not visited a doctor's office my whole adult life.
WHY?
For exactly the premise of Henry's book.. I obey God. I hold no anger, unforgiveness, bitterness, wrath, envy.. you name it. And here I am, my son also, we go 10 years at a time without so much as a cold!

Do I recommend the book! You bet I do. I've given out 12 copies in these 10 years since I first found the book. Is everything spot on. NO. But such a huge percentage of it is accurate, you'd be a mocker and gainsayer to not wish to reap the benefits of its sage advice. Then it would be your loss.

Yes, I read some of the criticism on this page. The key to Henry's book, just like the Bible, is that one MUST read it with the Holy Spirit guiding you. THEN it may be used of God to show you marvelous things 'you don't know'

There is no one out there that can't learn something from the wisdom contained in the book. No one. I read the comment by the person who said the book departs from mainstream Christianity.. THANK GOD IT DOES!

Where is mainstream Christianity on the subject of healing? Dead as a doornail. Stuck making prayer lists for the sick. Since WHEN did CHRIST ever sit down and put people on a prayer list??? HE was PROACTIVE and taught his disciples to be PROACTIVE: GO and HEAL THE SICK! he said. Not 'make a prayer list and whimper to heaven.. "Father IF it be your will.. sister Evelyn is sick, would you perhaps heal her'... GOOD HEAVENS PEOPLE! When you start comparing anything to mainstream lukewarm powerless mealymouthed Christianity like the healing served up in mainstream churches today.. I WOULD ALSO like to be accused of 'departing from mainstream Christianity'!!!

That comment was as much an endorsement for "A More Excellent Way' as any on this goodreads review page!

My recommendation, become meek, get the book, and ask the Holy Spirit to show you what YOU might learn that might get you where some of us are who FULLY Believe the Lord and LONG ago put away our sins so that NOTHING worse could come upon us! Obedience resulting in health is not just New Testament, it is in the writings of Moses 4,000 years ago. READ DEUTERONOMY!

Then Jesus Christ himself declared to the paralytic man that he healed, now 'go and sin no more lest a worse thing come upon you'.. FOREVER connecting the act of sinning with the physical condition!

Our spiritual health is mirrored by our physical health. And the only people that remain sick are those who are too proud, or ignorant to read the scriptures honestly and repent of their sins.

God bless you in your heart's desire to be well. It reflects Gods will for you; III John 2, 'Beloved, above ALL things, I would that you 'be in health'!

That's the name of the ministry and it's blessed by GOD.

As much as I really, really WANT to read this book, I am having a very difficult time getting through it. I have tried several times, and I just cannot get very far. And when I say "very far", I mean, I can't even get through the first CHAPTER. I'm giving it one last shot, skipping directly to the sections that I am most interested in. But if those sections are not written any more clearly, I'm giving up.

This is the worst book I've ever read. There's some crazy things written in here such as
- "ADHD comes out of a dumb and deaf spirit"
- "I've merged dyslexia and ADD with homosexuality"
- [Regarding ADHD] "the prime root of the confusion is gender disorientation because of an inversion of Godly order in the home"
- "she was designed to follow a patriarch"
- for acne, his solution: "Kids are vicious with each other... I try to get children in my church to get to know adults... They are not stuck with the tunnel vision of kids that maliciously shame them, but with adults who love them" <--I don't think the solution to acne is having kids stay away from other kids and spending more time with adults, considering how prevalent child sexual abuse is in the church.
- "The home is ruled by the female, not the male, and the confusion that comes out of it produces ADD, dyslexia, and homosexuality"
I understand that this may be what Christians believe but I certainly do not. I was just trying to find a book about psychosomatic medicine and someone suggested this. Absolutely crazy junk. If you're a traditional/conservative, misogynistic, Christian, homophobic person (which I think is the target market of the book), I think you'll like this book. If you're not, steer clear - I wish I did.

I've read this book and highly recommend it. Why.? Because after reading it I was convinced that there was truth in it but was not exactly sure how to apply the truth. I booked a trip to Thomaston, Georgia and went to the program called For My Life. It was a one week program designed to help me understand how I got sick in the first place and how to get well. The first step was understanding just how much Father God loved me...I was not just a speck of dust running around on the earth! Trying to make my own way. No! I am a Being created by Him that He loves dearly. That was the first step in getting my thinking right and there was more right thinking that followed. I have been healed of MCS/EI, (allergic to Everything!), chronic daily migraines (12 years worth) and insomnia. Yes there is a way out of illness!
I have been to the program more than once and have purchased and read some of Henry W. Wrights other books too. I'll post reviews on them too.

Challenging and life changing if you're prepared to work it through and face the reality of Gods word being active in your life. It will present an uncompremising view and challenge the learner to leave the 'fantasy' life behind. I dip in and out regularly - would like to hear the author speak again as it was so helpful in understnading his view.

Henry W Wright takes 500 pages to say 'the problem is you'. Which...is a correct answer (we are broken and only Jesus makes us whole) but he turns it into spiritual abuse. Complete healing is not promised this side of eternity. Facts.

Disease exists because we live in an imperfect world. Our choices can and do impact our health.

But Henry particularly rubs salt in the wound of anyone with a chronic illness. He says you're not worth praying for unless he can personally minister around the sin issue. I guess since he has died now, that means the company are your only hope to be healed. I'm curious how much they charge for that healing.

In summary.... this book preys on vunerable people. Sad.

I enjoyed this book, but stopped at 50% because it started to feel really redundant. While I do think that there are some chronic illnesses that have a spiritual root, such as fear, anxiety, self-hatred or bitterness, the author's 80% estimate was quite high. As a naturopathic doctor, I've seen a lot of people get better naturally once we identified and removed natural underlying causes of chronic illness, without addressing spiritual issues -- though sometimes those do seem to play a role too. It might be a case of "if you're a hammer, then everything looks like a nail": that is, if you're a pastor, everything looks like a spiritual problem. Maybe 80% of the people *he* sees have spiritual root issues, because they self-select, and those are the people who seek him out. Likewise, I see a LOT of mold and Lyme disease cases. If I were to assume that my patient population is a random sample of society, I'd say it's at least 30-40% of chronic illness. But I have to keep in mind that that's just the demographic that *I* see.

I also am not sure what to think about the concept that God's provision of healing requires obedience, even on this side of the cross. It feels a little legalistic... Jesus' work on the cross was finished. But he does make a good case that there are still earthly consequences for our actions. It's an interesting concept that some of those consequences might be illness. The book is definitely food for thought.

Reading this book gave me true understanding that disease does not come from God and that it truly comes from satan and that I have to take responsibility to receive healing when you've tried everything else like healing lines and you have not received healing. There is a reason for this and this book explains the reasons why and how to receive healing.

Excellent teaching! As the radio minister says: The heart of the matter is a matter of the heart!
Whether you realize it or not - you are at War with yourself! You were born in sin! )see Jonathan Kleck yt) Therefore, sin WILL have an effect on you.... and we KNOW it will not be good. We are in a Spiritual battle.
This is a lot of information to take in at once. The 'traditional' church of today is all about Entertainment. It is NOT based on seeking and learning about Jesus and His Word, or even calling out sin. HE IS the WORD. When we are totally surrendered and obedient to Him, we will be at Peace, have joy, and bear fruit.
Bro. Wright does some connecting of how satan has come between you and God by using your mind which in turn effects your body. You can be healed just like people were in the Bible without EVER knowing salvation. However, sometimes the DIS-ease is allowed in order to SHOW you your lack of connection or to PROMPT you to choose Jesus if you are blind in your self-awareness and going down the wrong path.
God is Sovereign and will heal whom He pleases and for His Kingdom purposes as a witness of His Power and a sign to the unbeliever.
I appreciate the insight and leading Bro. Wright had to get us back to the saints once contending for the faith!

One of the most significant, insightful, and informative books, 'A More Excellent Way' by Henry Wright, transcends the conventional understanding of diseases. It masterfully delves into the intricate connection between medical factors and spiritual dis-ease, illustrating how the latter can manifest into physical or mental ailments. This literary gem doesn't merely diagnose; it provides a biblical call and prescription to healing. As I've immersed myself in its pages, I've discovered profound insights that have proven invaluable in my ministry with loved ones. Wright's work stands as a beacon, guiding us towards pathways to wholeness, merging faith and health in a transformative narrative.

A greater and more vacuous load of bollocks has hardly ever disgraced the face of Protestantism. The advice and philosophy from this book and program impacted me so heavily as a teenager, that I didn't seek medical treatment for a decade. Thankfully, I've moved on and I'm now the better for it.
