UGH. This is just another contemporary piece which the author wanted, for reasons unknown (though I suspect is to improve sales), to label as “paranormal”. Without actually bothering to do any worldbuilding beyond a couple sentences. These people could be human and only minor, unimportant details would change in the story. Which also required minimal work on the author’s part, might I add, since it’s only a collection of tropes put together with a string and a prayer. The writing is nonsensical, as well, and there were alot of sentences that completely confused me, and a lot of sentences that sounded as if Yoda was saying them, which constantly took me out of the story.
(SPOILER ALERTS) I loved this book and especially Liam’s character. He was a Shadow Fairy and he was in love with Hannah, a Light Fairy. Ethan was her baby daddy and in order to receive his inheritance he needed a relationship with his daughter. I’m a sucker for a happy ending and this one is great.
I enjoyed this book. Loved the enemies to lovers vibe and the I love you from afar vibe as well. I liked how the relationship between Hannah and Liam and you get to see it progress in this story. You can tell that he has big feelings for Hannah but is unsure how to show them. Same with Hannah. You can tell she feels deeply for him but is afraid to admit it and show because of her past as well as how Liam’s history with girls is. Looking forward to reading more from Anika Skye.
