About the author

Johnny Gruelle was an American artist, political cartoonist, children's book author and illustrator (and even songwriter). He is known as the creator of Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy. He had such confidence in his design that often he would create the final ink work without first sketching in pencil.

I absolutely loved the dolls as a girl and being able to share the stories, that were new to me too, was a great bonding experience over the last few nights as I read to her. I highly recommend this book.

I love Raggedy Ann and Andy. I do still have a Raggedy Ann doll and I did have some figurines of her and Andy when I was small. Unfortunately, I don't know whatever happened to them. But at least I still have my Raggedy Ann doll. :)
Anyways, I thought all these stories were so cute. While we all know that the characters are indeed dolls, they're still involved in important themes to real life such as making friends, treating everyone the way they'd want to be treated, and loving one another.

The magic of toys and what they do when you're not around is just as good as it was 20 years ago. My children are enjoying this bedtime story and ask for it often. Book includes several "stories" broken down into chapters and has a few colored illustrations.

A little too sugary sweet for my boys. We read it off and on but I could tell they weren't that into it. I never read these stories growing up so it was interesting for me. There are blatant lessons about being cheery and nice and unselfish. Raggedy Ann reminded me a little of Pollyanna. :)
