R.L. Stine is adored by children all over the world for his haunting tales. Freaks and Shrieks adds another chapter to the Mostly Ghostly series that young readers will love. I really enjoyed the antics of the two ghosts, as they played pranks on humans who cannot see them. Of course, there is a serious side to these ghosts in that they are both looking for their parents and for a way to be human again, since they never really died.

Max is the straightman in this trio as he just tries to survive growing up with two ghosts by his side. I really enjoyed how R.L. Stine wrote this story and the quick pace he created throughout the book. All of the characters were great and kids will love the three main characters. As for Max, he is not popular, he is not suave, and he is kind of a geek, but that is cool. So, most kids will be able to relate to him and the minor problems he has.

I really enjoyed Freaks and Shrieks and all young readers who light a little fright once in a while will too. So, pick up this book soon and prepare for a chilling tale of ghosts, magicians, and chimpanzees. My, that is a strange mix, isn't it?

I rated this book an 8½ out of 10.

In this book Tara and Nicky are ghosts who live in Max's bedroom and he is the only one who can see and hear them. Nicky and Tara didn't die, they mysterously turned into ghosts after one of their the evil ghosts, that their parents captured, got out and set the other evil ghosts free. The story talks about how Max deals with his best friends being ghosts and how desperatley Nicky and Tara want to come back to life. Will Nicky and Tara push max to the limit when the think that they've found something that may be able to bring them back to life? Read the book to find out!

I didn't connect with the book because all the characters in the book are ghosts. Exept for one boy named Max he was very quiet which I am sometimes. The one ghost Tara was very wild she would go to Maxes school just to freak people out. But I'm not a girl. Over all I thought it was a great book.

I'm really enjoying these books, even though I'm clearly way too old to be reading them. They're just so cute and fun, and perfect for getting in the Halloween mood.
