Masashi Kishimoto (岸本斉史 Kishimoto Masashi) is a Japanese manga artist, well known for creating the manga series Naruto. His younger twin brother, Seishi Kishimoto, is also a manga artist and creator of the manga series O-Parts Hunter (666 Satan) and Blazer Drive. Two of his former assistants, Osamu Kajisa (Tattoo Hearts) and Yuuichi Itakura (Hand's), have also gone on to moderate success following their work on Naruto.

Kishimoto's first work as a manga artist was Karakuri (カラクリ?), which he submitted to Shueisha in 1995. This earned him the Weekly Shōnen Jump's monthly "Hop Step Award" in 1996, granted to promising new manga artists. This was followed in 1997 by a pilot version of Naruto (NARUTO-ナルト-), published in Akamaru Jump Summer. In 1998, Kishimoto premiered as a Weekly Shōnen Jump artist with a serialized version of Karakuri in Weekly Shōnen Jump, but it proved unpopular and was canceled soon after. In 1999, a serialized version of Naruto began publication in Weekly Shōnen Jump and quickly became a hit.

Given how much creative control Shonen manga editors have over the final product (Naruto was no exception), I'm bewildered how not even one of them instructed Kishimoto on how to write properly functional teenage girls. That discussion between Sakura and Naruto should've been a very important moment for them and their relationship as comrades and close friends. It should have cemented their bonds as they finally moved on from Sasuke's toxicity. Instead, it was just lame. Lame, so frickin' lame. But blaming the author alone is not entirely fair. His editors may have actually been responsible for cutting Sakura's development short after her fight with Sasori. Kishimoto is also clearly unable to tell friendship from obsession. Forget Killing Stalking: Deluxe Edition Vol. 1, Naruto is the work that brought dysfunctional BL relationships into the mainstream.

All of that being said, this was still a great volume. Seeing the three more experienced Kage owning Sasuke in battle was a satisfying reparation for how obnoxious he has become.

Aargh, can't believe I didn't write reviews for these right after I read them... I guess I was just going way too fast to stop for a few words ;).

Honestly, this one just cements the bad rep Sakura gets, and for a reason. It's cringy as heck, and I have a feeling this entire scene is just so Naruto can show how much more mature he had become. This doesn't change the fact that Sakura once more gets the short shrift, her actions barely explained and unbelievable, and her well-meant but horribly degrading lying is just painful to watch.

But talking about my dislikes, seriously, an all-time award will always belong to Special Snowflake Sasuke. That stupid brat! Gaara, my man, I get why you feel a connection, and why you are able to emphatize, but don't waste your emotions on that spoiled, nasty child. That puppy has fangs, and rabies!

Ah, the volume with the infamous "STOP JOKING SAKURA" chapters. Yeah, that didn't go down well, did it? At least Sakura meant well. The fight between Killer Bee and Kisame was pretty epic, as was Sasuke's release of Susano'o against Gaara. I don't get people giving Gaara shit for crying a little over Sasuke's story; if anyone in that building understood Sasuke's situation the most, it would definitely be Gaara. Re-read the part of the Genin Test arc where Gaara fights Naruto then come back and try to say chapter 464 is implausible. I can't help but laugh at the last page when Kakashi points out the Sai doppelganger but I don't know why. Maybe it's because Sai seems unreal already without a shadow clone of him running about? Not that I don't love Sai cause I do. Volume 51 looks like it'll have a lot of uncomfortable revelations for Naruto.

Sasuke is such a badass. He's only 16 years old here, if I remember correctly. He's fighting the Five Kage at 16. Sasuke is too cool for his own good.

Also, this volume consists of the single moment that ruined Sakura Haruno's character forever. This was when everyone who ever read or watched this series decided that they had enough. (Spoiler) She tells Naruto she is in love with him in a (really stupid) attempt to stop him from chasing after Sasuke. Not only is she a moron, but a heartless, vindictive moron. She knew Naruto had a crush on her pre-timeskip, and used that to manipulate him. There are not enough words to describe how messed up that is, and how much Naruto didn't deserve that. God, she's a parasite sometimes. Overall, I have a fondness for Sakura; mostly because I have so much nostalgia attached to all members of Team 7. But she's annoying, mostly useless, and just terrible.

It also ruins her character that she still loves Sasuke so obsessively. It makes her seem so pathetic for the entire series. I love Sasuke to death as a character, but Sakura should've given up on loving him. Maybe not saving him, because he was still Team 7 (And hadn't really done anything that bad yet anyway, let's be honest), but a relationship with him should've been the furthest thing from her tiny brain. She almost redeemed herself when she wanted to kill Sasuke, but she couldn't go through with it. And then, after this arc, she just goes right back to kissing the ground he walks on.

Tutto bellissimo. Davvero.

Watching Sasuke fight is always a pleasure, and I really like how he doesn't hold back at all, even if its kinda stupid how he's going about his task. He's not even fighting his intended target! Just the whole five kage summit. WTH?

Bee's fight was slightly interesting for the sake of seeing what they're made of. At least it progresses the story.

The Fourth Great Ninja War has been declared!! The Four remaining Kage decide to form the shinobi alliance. The first job for this alliance is to find and protect the last two Jinchuriki!! Naruto is confronted by Sakura and told that he doesn't need to uphold his promise to her any longer. Killer Bee on the other hand runs into trouble in the form of Kisame but is saved in the nick of time by Raikage!!

I always liked Kisame, whenever he fights.
I can't believe how stupid Sasuke has become. Fine that, he's targeting Danzou, even I want to kill that old geezer, but why's he not going after him and fighting all the others?
Also I love how Gaara tried to bring him back to the light. Sasuke, who knows Gaara, who's fought him and knew how bloodthirsty he had been, even after knowing everything, how can he not realize that by only thinking of revenge he's not ever going to be at peace!!

Another battle-focused volume allowing us to watch Sasuke's confrontation come to an end and Kisame's hidden powers come to life. Sakura's character takes a plunge in terms of respect and credibility as she proclaims blasphemous things to Naruto, allowing the latter to do the right thing, however. The most important reveal is the declaration of a worldwide event that's bound to have incredible implications and consequences on the world of ninjas.

Sasuke's really having a day isn't he?

It's no surprise that the kage have so much trouble with his ancestor when they all have to get involved to take down 1 teenager. It definitely would have ended in his defeat and Mizukage and Tsuchikage didn't really give it their all, but he did make them sweat a little. Good for him. The Mizukage melting his susano was particularly cool.  The samurai attacking upside down Sasuke was not so. I get such second hand embarrassment seeing the samurai try to fight. They're completely ineffective against shinobi with jutsu, especially when shinobi can also be talented with blades.

Madara makes his hammy declaration of war to the assembly Gokage in this meeting when he comes to save Sasuke's ass. He very helpfully gives quite a detailed plan to what he's going to do. It's very funny to see the Raikage say "Nothing planned by the Akatsuki can be good!  It won't even make sense." Was this a fourth wall break? A joke from the author? The plans never make sense.

Of course, this little ambush meant Sasuke faced off against Gaara. Gaara, who sees himself in Sasuke but has taken a different path. Sasuke looked crazed during parts of this fight so I really don't think he was in the mood to listen, not even to Gaara's tears.

There's 2 other fights. Ao vs the Yamanaka (I assume) root guy which is quite interesting. A little game between the two to see who can act the fastest. Then there's the octopus vs the shark which is just as big as the two characters. Bee using the pencils, he's not as brainless as his friends think.

The biggest event in this volume is probably Sakura's "confession." Sakura falsely declared her love for Naruto and every incel took it to heart. Of course I think it's quite rude and shameful, but it's mainly the wrongness of it that irks me. Yes, Sai has told her it's her fault for making him promise her, but as the one who knows him better, she should know it's not about that. Its the presumption that Naruto's dedication to pursuing Sasuke is mainly for her benefit that rubs me the wrong way. Of course he's trying to save Sasuke for his own sake. I don't think he's ever made it seem otherwise. Everyone involved is incredulous and they're pretty miffed, especially Yamato surprisingly. He has to fix an inn and now has to watch this farce? It's also the confession itself. She basically comes up with, "Sasuke's not here and he's a criminal anyway, so I'll take you instead. Its only when Sasuke's tarnished himself that I can see in a better light." I don't think its ever much to ask for the love interest to love the person for who they truly are and not as a second prize. And the hero looks so dejected here, and rightly angry. He remembers how she always turned to Sasuke, not him. He knows the truth of it. I know what she wants to achieve here, but what a careless (I do not believe it was in any way malicious, just not well thought out) way to achieve it. To use love as a bargaining chip on the boy who has loved you and who so desperately wants love back.

I do respect what she wanted to do here, she wants to take the burden off Naruto and take it upon herself because she feels guilty. Maybe she did feel bad that she had favoured Sasuke all that time. The look of determination on her face on page 125 is such a good look on her. I wish that was the moment it changed for her. That she had truly decided to put her youthful fancies behind her and strived only to better herself as a ninja of her village. Alas.

This scene is massive and made even bigger by people's reactions. I think it's complicated. It's obviously a terrible idea, but comes from a good place. It's not the act of villainy some people think it is.

This is a review of the entire series.

Once upon a time, the spirit of an evil Nine Tailed Fox wreaked havoc on Konohagakure; the Village Hidden in the Leaves, killing hundreds of honorable ninja in the skirmish and leaving many children without homes or parents. The Fourth Hokage (leader of the village) unleashes a forbidden jutsu (magic spell/ninja ability) to seal the spirit of the evil fox into the body of a newborn baby named Naruto at the cost of his own life. He did this in the hopes that the boy could one day learn to master the power of the demonic spirit and use it to protect the village and become a great hero of the people.

Unknown to the citizens of the Leaf, the Nine Tailed Fox was being controlled by an even more powerful adversary, a legendary rogue ninja that plans to wage war against the entire world from the shadows. The identity of the mysterious ninja that attacked the Leaf Village using the Nine Tails died with the Fourth Hokage, and he used what remained of his life to gift Naruto with the power of one day being able to stop this evil ninja and a clan of outlawed S-rank criminals called the Akatsuki from committing mass genocide against the many hidden villages and clans of the world.

Because of the evil spirit sealed inside him, Naruto grew up hated by the other children of the village because they believe him and the Nine Tails to be one and the same. They believe he’s a ticking time bomb waiting to go off, waiting for the perfect moment to kill them all just like the Nine Tails killed their parents and families. Shunned, dehumanized and treated like dirt, Naruto vows to become the greatest hokage the world has ever seen so that he can receive the love and acknowledgement he never got as a child.

On top of the Nine Tails power and the will to never quit, Naruto also possesses the uncanny ability to turn everyone he meets into a potential comrade. He brings out the best in his peers and tries his hardest to make his enemies see the errors of their ways. He disobeys the rules and ignores cultural traditions to try and make changes to the world and break the eternal cycle of war and hatred through his own methods. His determination is infectious to friend and foe alike. He earns himself the respect he deserves by overcoming one impossible obstacle at a time.

Naruto encounters many fascinating and terrifying ninja over the course of his journey to become hokage. Among them are Sasuke Uchiha, Naruto’s best friend and rival who is driven by the vengeful lust to murder his elder brother after he wiped out their own clan in cold blood. Sasuke warms up to Naruto, but his hatred and trauma are dangerous forces that threaten to break his moral code as a ninja and destroy his reputation among his peers.

Kakashi Hatake is a notorious copycat ninja that survived one of the most brutal and devastating wars in history as well as the Nine Tails attack on the Leaf Village. He becomes Naruto and Sasuke’s mentor and teaches them a great number of valuable lessons about surviving in the dangerous world of rogue ninja, bloodthirsty assassins and clans ruled by corruption.

Jiraiya is a perverted yet wise sage who taught the Fourth Hokage everything he knew and he’s regarded as a god among shinobi that’s famous for his heroic actions in the second great ninja war. He takes an interest in Naruto and raises him as a father figure to carry on the legacy of the Fourth Hokage to prepare him for the many dangerous people that want to use his power for their own nefarious purposes.

The Akatsuki is one such group of wicked ninja. Among them are Sasuke’s brother Itachi who murdered his clan and possesses many dangerous techniques involving illusions, psychological torture and elemental manipulation. Sasori who controls poisonous puppets with magical threads, Orochimaru who mastered the forbidden arts of reanimation and quasi-immortality, Deidara who fights from afar using detonating clay and many other deadly foes.

The entire series chronicles Naruto and his fellow ninja comrades growing through countless trials and tragedies. There are hundreds of unique jutsus, clans, and techniques which lead to some very intense, creative and strategic battles between skilled ninja with diverse abilities that don’t always match up evenly. There are clan based abilities such as the Aburame clan’s ability to control insects, the Yamanaka clan’s ability to jump into other people’s minds and control their bodies and the Inuzuka clan’s ability to bond with wolves that learn to mimic their master’s battle skills. Then there’s ocular genetic abilities such as the sharingan which allows the user to create psychological illusions, copy their enemy’s abilities and manipulate elemental energy. The byakugan allows the user to read their enemies vital points and detect their spiritual energy from faraway. The rinnegan grants control over space and gravity and so on.

On top of having countless unique abilities, nearly every character has a tragic backstory that makes them sympathetic and relatable, even the nastiest of the villains have well-explored reasons for following the paths they do and becoming the way they are. One of my favorite aspects of the series is how well it explores the physical, emotional and psychological effects war can have on society and culture as well as the survivors and future generations that are forced to live in them. How it breeds racism and cultural disputes, how it inspires hatred in orphaned children and war veterans robbed of their homes toward foreign nations, as well as how this eventually leads to further death, war, poverty and destruction. Learning to forgive the ones you hate to prevent further conflict and damaging the world for future generations even further is a major theme throughout the story.

Being a massive 700 chapter series, it’s not too surprising that there’s some plot holes and consistency issues. A rule might be stated regarding the requirements and usage of a certain jutsu or ability only for that rule to be repeatedly broken 400 chapters later. Sometimes the characters and rules contradict themselves, sometimes the chronology of certain events and historical facts don’t match up perfectly, the lore and general backstory go through several retcons that change the philosophy and power scaling of the characters and the scope of world-building; the final arc especially drags on and breaks a lot of the logic and rules that the story spent the whole series setting up, etc...

Naruto’s far from perfect, but I remember it very fondly for being one of the first series that introduced me to things like manga and Japanese entertainment in general. It was one of those childhood classics like Dragon Ball, Inuyasha, Yu Yu Hakusho and Rurouni Kenshin. The series grew up with me and I can’t help but feel grateful to it for introducing me to hundreds of other franchises that I’m still a huge fan of to this day and I continue to find many new ones on the regular. Naruto's journey from a clownish, disrespected outcast into a talented, well-loved and admired hero is a memorable one.

this is another great book by Masashi Kishimoto.

i decided to read this book beacause i love the naruto series. i love it beacause of the fantasy and dicipline.

this book fills in the category of "own Choice". it was EXTREMELY easy because i just had to choose a book.

my favourite quote is." it is not to late for you... do not be obsessed by hatred that you escape to a world of solitude". I like this because it means hatred is not right and we should forgive and if we do hate we will be alone forever.

my favourite character is Naruto. Because he is always changing getting better and helps everyone. i also like him because in the book he is powerful because he has mastered senjutsu or AKA sagemode. he is trying to find his friend Sasuke who has gone rogue. he is like me, wierd at first but very complex.

something i learnt from this book is that we have to stick up for our friends no matter what. Killer Bee save his friends ponta and sabu chan from kisame even though his life is in danger.

This was a good volume, we learn more of Madara's plan regarding the first ninja and the origin of the Bijuu monster and the ten tails and what his ultimate plans are, regarding lunar operation and wow that was fascinating and maybe the best part of the series, plus his goals of reviving it and world domination, and ultimately: start the 4th NINJA WORLD WAR! Its so cool, its just the dawn of big things to come! Also all the Kages decide to form a joint squad to counter Akatsuki and Madara and also Hisame fights the 8th tail host and its a fun battle and shows how powerful Kisame is and the fight is epic until he is rescued. This volume had big revelations and premonitions of the big things to come.

(4.5 stars) Project Tsuki No Me is finally explained

“I will create a world with no bad blood, no wars.”

“ALL SHALL BECOME ONE WITH ME! AND RESULT IN A COMPLETE POSSESSION THAT UNITES US ALL!”

“A super genjutsu where I project my eye off of the moon’s surface.

“An infinite Tsukuyomi”

“All humans living on this Earth under my genjutsu! By controlling them all, I shall unify the world!”

Madara crashes the summit and tells them his plan and the tale that comes along with it.
When he was going to tell his story, Kankuro screamed “What kind of plan is it?!”
And Madara was like shhh and held up his pointer finger HAHA

Madara apparently tries to “reason” with the Gokage. Asking them to hand over the 8 and 9-tails.

Madara spoke about The Ten-tails and the origin of the 1-9 tails, the Sage of Six Paths and why he’s considered God of Shinobi, what the moon actually is.

His plan is to “Revive 10-tails and become 10-tails jinchuriki!”

They of course said no. So…
“I hereby declare war on you all… THE FOURTH GREAT NINJA WAR!” Yasss I’m ready!

Notes on the first half of this volume:

Wait… why is Gaara crying exactly?
Maybe he feels he could’ve become Sasuke, if put on another path, not saved by Naruto.
I love Gaara’s character. He’s one of my favorites. He’s changed so much and he’s very thoughtful and kind now. After the hatred that flowed through him, he is finally free of Shukaku. I believe that has helped him some, though he has irreparable damage to the bags around his eyes.

It’s weird because deep down Sasuke still has some of his humanity left. It really seems like he knows Gaara understands him. Maybe he’s the only one Sasuke has actually been able to relate with. Usually Sasuke is at least making rude jabs towards others that challenge him in some way. He knows Gaara will fight him, but he understands Gaara doesn’t want to.
I do remember them wanting to fight each other at the beginning of them being Genins. Gaara has told him since then that Sasuke has the same eyes as him “Eyes seeking strength, spilling over with hatred and intent to kill.”
Never would I think Sasuke would say to an opponent “You block my enton so effectively… I guess your absolute defense is still going strong.” And he said it with a smile. He’s smirked 10000 times so I know it’s real, a light smile, and not a rude attitude smirk.
I think, straight up, that Sasuke respects Gaara. I don’t think Sasuke respects Naruto. Maybe he acknowledges his power, but nothing else. I think he believes Naruto doesn’t understand him at all and gets extremely angry whenever Naruto tries to relate to him. It’s really obvious, saying it more at this point is just annoying but Naruto needs to stop relating with Sasuke.
Naruto, Sasuke is not your brother. When Naruto is like 12 he says “I think that having a brother would be like how I feel towards you.” Nooo Naruto. That’s your problem right there. You DON’T know. Period dude. End of sentence.
It especially pisses me off thinking about that I also have an immediate family of 3 others, the 4 of us. 2 parents, one sibling. So thinking about someone saying something like that to me… I would go OFF. I’d flip out… like Sasuke did. I understand Sasuke more than I do Naruto.
Naruto is going to drive me insane I swear. He needs to stop.

Does Kankuro have Sasori as a puppet?!! I THINK IT IS

Now Karin is like “omg his chakra is so cold. What happened to you Sasuke?”
GIRL WTF are you talking about?!!!
Sasuke: “Have you pinpointed Danzo’s location?! Take me there!”
Karin: “What about Jugo and Suigetsu? Their chakras are still…” (their chakra is gone)
Sasuke: “Forget them! Danzo first!”
He’s always been this way. You think he actually cares about you guys?! HAHA since the beginning you’ve been used and you should fucking know that.
Sasuke: “Karin, COME!” Hahaha like a DOG!
He didn’t like everyone on Taka to start with. He specifically chose them and sought them out because their powers will be useful in order to take out his own revenge. It’s laughable that they actually believe that he cares about them. He didn’t come to “free you”, he came to use you bitches. That’s your own fault for not seeing this coming.
I know Karin knew him before and I don’t give a fuck about what she says about him in the past. He never liked you girl, never. And he wasn’t kind, he just did a ninja’s duty. Karin disgusts me. I can’t stand her anymore plz.

Gaara, after fighting Sasuke, says to himself “Naruto, what would you have done..?”
GAARA he would have been angrily, uncontrollably, extremely, emotional. He would act out, piss off Sasuke beyond reason and Sasuke would try to kill everyone. Starting a huge battle which could kill literally anyone there. It’d be such a big battle. Naruto would be like “Let’s do this outside!” Hahaha. Sasuke would definitely not leave that spot after Naruto would say that.

Suigetsu and Jugo were both close to death. Without their powers, they would’ve been killed in a second

Jugo stealing chakra from a samurai. They are neutral. That’s why the fucking Kage Summit is held there. They are not to be interfered with shinobi jujutsu, violence. This is the shinobi rule! The shinobi shall not attack the Land of Iron, that’s the fucking rule, a moral of a shinobi’s values. But Sasuke, of course…
They don’t enter shinobi battles BUT had no choice. Then you’re just going to drain the life from one of them???? Fuck you Jugo.
Everyone in Taka can go fucked.

When Sasuke shows up and crashes the summit and then when fought back by the Mizukage he says “Don’t interfere!” Ugh. Sasuke is still a little brat I swear.

finally got to that oh so famous panel - sakura’s “naruto, i love you.”

i remember i started this series out of plain curiosity because i had seen that panel on twitter so many times, that i just assumed that sakura loved naruto always, but then found out she ended up with sasuke??

obviously now i know better, but i still remember the mild shock of this discovery because sakura is so prominently hated because of this panel, and i just assumed that it was because teenage boys for some reason think it weird that their mc was being fawned over by a girl, or that it was because she was a woman in general. but now that i have context and can understand the circumstances in which the line was delivered, i find that all this hate was unfounded and that these critics just majorly lacked reading comprehension.

so, sakura essentially sacrifices herself for the village of konoha. sai (and indirectly, shikamaru) tells her that because of naruto’s love for her, he wants to make good on his promise that he will return sasuke to konoha, because sakura loves sasuke. now that sasuke is an international terrorist and a threat to humanity, pretty much everyone else is in agreement that he should be dealt with, but sakura - and naruto - cannot except this. sai recognises this but also reckons that naruto is so desperate to get sasuke back because he loves sakura and wants to make her happy, that by having to keep this promise to her, sakura is making him as miserable as sasuke is. so she decides to dismantle all this and profess her love to naruto, essentially brushing sasuke out of the narrative and cutting ties with him that would prevent them from doing what’s right for konoha - eliminating sasuke. although it’s pretty obvious what she’s doing, and naruto picks up on it basically straight away, it’s incredibly selfless and sacrificial, albeit a little manipulative.

i find it kind of sad how this one panel has perpetuated probably up to a decade plus of sakura hate (which was most likely led by misogyny) because actually it’s a really good demonstration of how character and just how trying these ambiguous, pre-war times are.

Riuscirà Gaara a far ragionare Sasuke?

So far in this arc, Sai has been on the fence about Naruto's obsession with Sasuke. He even went as far as to blame Sakura for Naruto's obsession even though Naruto already declared what Sasuke means to him. The fact that Sai's whole journey is about his emotional development and the fact that he's ignorant to Naruto's bond to Sasuke is surprising. And in this volume, Sai is clarified about Naruto's love for Sasuke, though I think the clarification is unneeded because it was so damn clear in the previous arcs. That's one inconsistency.

The second is one that's been plaguing the series since it began; Sakura had so much potential for being a great character, but she's been given the worst roles that don't do anything for her character or any for that matter. I'm genuinely surprised that Kishimoto had never once been consulted about his mishandling of female characters, but here we are.

Sakura's said to be strong and capable, but we haven't seen that since the Kazekage Rescue Mission arc and even then the poor dialogue diminished any development. And now in this volume, Sakura's worst traits resurface for cheap romantic drama. I get that she tried manipulating Naruto to ease his burdens, but the whole issue was greatly mishandled and made the main heroine of the series look terrible.

But at least we got cool fight scenes 🙄

I'm finally getting back to actively reading this series, with the intent of finally finishing it. There was a lot of action in this one, but I'm afraid the series is about to fall off track for a while... I really liked the Gokage Summit of the previous volume, even if they haven't accomplished a great amount yet. It introduced a lot of new characters, and I really wish they'd started involving the other lands sooner. We've hit the point where the series is kind of all over the place. There are so many characters with their own 'missions', and Sasuke's goals and actions start to become truly nonsensical as he just totally goes off the deep end... I am excited to see it all come back together, though.

(It's funny, finally reading through the end now, because I always kept up with the news of each new development as they were first published. I remember for a while there, everyone made such a big deal out of Sakura 'confessing' to Naruto-- like it wasn't totally fake. To be honest, though... People love to hate on Sakura, and I've never been one of them, but this is one of the few times since the time skip where she's truly annoyed me. The whole point of that scene was that she felt guilty that Naruto was going to so much trouble for Sasuke-- as if it was all on her behalf, which clearly wasn't the case. Naruto feels just as strongly about redeeming Sasuke apart from any promises he might have made to her. I think trying to erase any romantic ambitions she might have with him is oversimplifying it. As if they could really just move on because she's 'decided' (again, as if love is really that simple) that she loves Naruto instead. I'm not saying she doesn't bring up some good points-- that Sasuke doesn't deserve her continued affection after all he's done-- but the whole thing just rubbed me the wrong way, and turned out to be really insignificant in the long run.)

Sasuke made Gaara sad... so rude... 😟 It really is heartbreaking though. For Gaara who was once in darkness but saved by Naruto, and yet it doesn't seem like anything can be done for his best friend...

Sakura's lie doesn't really bother me? Like after Pain's attack, Konoha got a small taste of war. All the teen ninja of Naruto's generation seem to be on edge. Kakashi died. (Even if it was temporary it definitely had an effect.) Tsunade is in a coma. Naruto seems to be endangering himself because of a promise he made to Sakura. And really the only way that seems feasible of convincing Naruto to let go of the promise is something very dramatic. Like a love confession. I mean it does seem like Naruto would strive to save Sasuke regardless of a promise to Sakura but it's also clear the promise hangs over his head.
