An in-depth look at what a believer possesses in salvation. This is a straightforward look at the misguided views and pitfalls that weaken Christians and keep them from victorious living.
Stifled by the strange insistence on the use of an outdated translation of the scriptures and a seemingly arbitrary list of innocuous things that BJU has determined are sinful, this otherwise well meaning and big hearted exploration of Ephesians is at best uninspiring. At worst it presents an image of a capricious god who has forced our hand into sinning and punished us dearly for his own decision. Whose only reason to do so is an elaborate dog show to make himself look better (Berg's metaphor, not mine.) There are better guides to Christian living than this. Namely, the plain and simple text of Ephesians itself. Especially if read from reliable texts in a relevent translation.
The book goes over its title: why man was created for God´s glory. A central theme surrounding this book is God´s ¨firstness¨ in ministry as well as everyday life. A bit deep, but a very good read!
This is one of the best book on the purpose of man that I have ever read. Many of the chapters are standouts--especially those on what it means to live in "the fear of God."
The last chapter itself could have been expanded into its own book. Well written, deep, practical with illustrations, but easy to follow. I would recommend this to anyone who wonders why we exist and what their purpose might be.
An excellent book that should be read by every Christian. Well documented with Scripture. I recommend that before a person starts reading the main text of the book, that he go to the back of the book and read Appendix B titled: 'Salvation: Divine Determination or Human Responsibility' written by Layton Talbert.
Wow!!! What a book explaining why God created us and our purpose while here on earth. It gave me a better understanding of how we are to respond to our earthly authorities which ultimately reflects how we respond to Jesus Christ.
A great book I went through with my men's bible study group. Generated tons of discussion and caused for me a great amount of personal examination and recognition of where I need to more align my life with God's purposes for me.
Es un libro que cubre casi una exposición del libro de Efesios. No es un comentario exegético pero si es tremendamente expositivo en los principios del libro de Efesios con otro buen toque de Eclesiastés al final del libro.
