"Crush" by Nikki Keith was made available for me to read thanks to the author and Voracious Readers Only, for an honest review.
The story is told from the perspective of several of the main characters throughout the story. However, the main character is Phoebe, who lost her father recently, and is having a difficult time coming to terms with his death. She's coping better and starting to settle in at school when all sorts of dramas occur with a "friend" sabotaging her with passionate intensity and others becoming involved, leading to some twists and turns that are surprising and shocking. The teenage angst and drama are believable and well written. No one would want to be at school with these conniving teens! I'd recommend "Crush" to anyone who enjoys psychological thrillers with a young adult slant.

This was pretty terrible. I had it suggested to me as being in the genre or Pretty Little Liars but I almost didn’t finish it. The first half build up is pretty slow and obvious and then it feel like the last half of the book is slammed together and then it’s over. No real suspense and the teenage characters were pretty cringe. I guess I shouldn’t dabble in YA thrillers.

agh.

i started this book because i wanted to read something short and sweet before another book on my tbr got delivered.

this book was just… sloppy. there were typos, the character writing was completely inconsistent, and there were a ton of random supposedly important details that were never mentioned again.

there were too many characters for such a short book in my opinion. the pov switches really came out of nowhere and at times they made this feel more like fan fiction.

the beginning was promising. i liked where it was going with Liam, and I was starting to picture something like “Perfect Liars” and I was getting excited. but it just completely swerved. several times. the tone changed about forty times too many for a 200 page book. it was just too many dynamics to keep track of.

overall, there’s other books i would suggest before this one, but if you’re looking for something to finish within a couple hours for free with kindle unlimited, this would do.
