Having saved the universe twice in less than a year, Jack Meter is looking forward to moving into his new downtown apartment and settling back into routine. Instead, he is hurled into his weirdest case yet: one of the Three Fates from Greek mythology has been kidnapped.

Although the claim stretches his credulity to the breaking point, he soon must wade through a series of riddles and lies that threaten the life of his closest friends. Along the way, despite his attempts at staying aloof, he acquires a new neighbor, a quirky housekeeper and a mysterious cat. As the case becomes more complex Jack is embroiled in a world of deities, daemons and djinn, and he must use all his wit, humour and courage to free his friends and save the world...yet again.

Metered Space started the series off, and was a strong entry. Meter Made followed that, and was a weaker entry. We end the trilogy with Meter Destiny, which was an even weaker entry.

It would have been easy to stop after the first or second book, without missing anything (no cliff hangers, although the last paragraph of Meter Made was confusing and did not setup this book, that I remember).

Meter Destiny started okay, but then seemed to meander a bit. I was not always sure it was taking me someplace. There were many places that were good, but seems the further I got into the book, the less focus there was or reasoning for what was happening.

Having said that, the last page or so did a nice job of tying up the relationships and "emotional" impetus of the books. Although, I do want to know more about Fred . . .

Jack's back and the Fates have got him. Or so they claim. One of their number is missing and presumed kidnapped, and they insist Jack Meter is the only PI qualified to find her. But--no surprise--nothing is quite what it seems, and when Jack's friends start disappearing, held for ransom and threatened with death unless he can unravel a riddle before his time runs out, it looks as if he's going to have to save the world again. It's getting to be a habit.

M.D. Benoit continues her exciting series of noir-PI science fiction tales with the latest installment, and it's a perfect addition.
