Excellent work from an author that walks the path of tradition with a deeply erudite yet objective eye.
An extremely acccurate and articulate essay on the symbols of an ageless wisdom explained with In a plain and clear language not affected by the sophistication often encountered in many others authors on the subject. It will inform, educate and enlighten the reader on a complex subject that touches many layers of human history and life. Excellent

A posthumous collection of Guénon's in-depth synthetic view concerning various sacred symbols throughout the world. It is of an immense value, I highly recommend it for anyone interested.

I personally read the French original version, but to the English readers, 'caveat lector'... Martin Lings, the editor of the first English translation (1995), deleted some parts of some articles (Chapter 6 and complete deletion of Chap 71). However, I am not sure if the current available edition has the same..."problem". In all cases, one should always do his best to avoid translations, if possible.

Probably Guenon's longest work, this one is eminently accessible, presenting a lot of arcane tidbits, well organized by topic into a definite flow that ties these disparate articles into a coherent work. Really appreciate this stuff!

This is not the kind of work that one is supposed to read all at once, it is meant to be meditated slowly slowly, and I think there are but few symbols which I have not meditated upon.
According to de Carvalho : “ To say that “the Church adopted pagan symbols” is to ignore what a symbol is. A few good months of René Guénon will cure this problem.”

"Jean Daniélou and René Guénon have the merit of having the meaning of symbolic knowledge in its specificity and as a respectable scientific knowledge." Pope Benedict XVI.

Full to the brim with traditionalist symbolism and esoterica. Guenon is a particularly unforgiving author, and this is not a casual read. Not the hardest thing I've read, but not far off.
