Two companies are competing to build the intercontinental railway. When one sends saboteurs to intercept the powder needed to pierce tunnels through the mountains, the other calls upon Lucky Luke to protect a last chance convoy. The problem is, it’s not powder that gets loaded onto the train this time – it’s nitroglycerin! And as if that wasn’t enough, the saboteurs are still around ... and the Daltons are convinced the train is full of gold!

About the author

The Belgian author Morris (full name Maurice de Bevere) is best known for his humorous cowboy character, Lucky Luke. Morris started his career in 1945 in Le Moustique, creating various covers and illustrations. By the end of the 1940s, Morris met his colleagues Jijé, Franquin and Will. These four artists would be called "The Gang of 4", because they all worked in Jijé's studio at that time. The first episode of Lucky Luke, 'Arizona 1880', was published in L'Almanach Spirou 1947, and was later continued in Spirou. In his early 'Lucky Luke' comics, Morris was greatly inspired by animated cartoons à la Disney.
In 1949, Jijé took Morris and Franquin to the US, where Morris met Jack Davis and Harvey Kurtzman, whom he helped with their plans for Mad Magazine. He also met René Goscinny in the US. In 1955, Morris returned to Europe and collaborated with René Goscinny on 'Lucky Luke'. Goscinny wrote the scenarios of over 35 stories, which led to the great success of the series.

Pretty tense, but not without the usual comedic flair of Lucky Luke. The Daltons know a few pretty big words for their general lack of intelligence.

In Nitroglycerin Lucky Luke has trouble coming from all directions as two competing railroad companies find themselves at loggerheads. To gain an advantage one opts for an underhand game of espionage and violence to thwart the other. To make matters worse, Luke is charged with protecting a shipment of nitroglycerin from the miscreants, but this highly volatile explosive is being transported by train and promises not to be the smoothest of journeys. Worse still, an earlier accident allowed the infamous Daltons to escape, and now they’re after the crate being protected by Luke under the misapprehension that it must contain gold. All the ingredients needed for plenty of miscommunication, foolhardiness, criminality, desperate chases and heroic exploits.

Morris gets to work with many writers after the untimely departure of Goscinny, and each bring their unique but subtle twist to their tale. No doubt this is tempered somewhat by the consistency of Morris working on the art, so any creases get ironed out early on. In this tale the caper is madcap and action-packed, relying on lots of visual humour as the train carrying the dangerous cargo is sent back and forth along the tracks, so Lo Hartog Van Banda brings a different pacing but one that still fits comfortably within the format. I’m always apprehensive about different writers working on an established series, but there’s no cause for worry here.

Action sequences also require a different approach to the illustration, and I’m sure Morris didn’t object to the opportunity to flex his drawing muscles. There are some nicely executed widescreen panels maximising the movement of the train and the subsequent chase. Pleasing to know that there’s lots to enjoy here, evidencing why this series has remained fresh over so many years.

Celkem jednoduchý příběh (je potřeba dostat bednu s nitroglycerinem na stavbu tunelu) je celkem dobře rozpracovaný a Daltonovi, na rozdíl od jiných novějších alb, reálně posouvají děj a nejsou jen kulisa.

Sekali lagi Lucky Luke harus berurusan dengan Dalton bersaudara. Cerita nya dimulai saat terjadi penggalian terowongan guna membangun rel kereta. Dua perusahaan yang bersaing Union Pasifik dan Central Pasifik sebenarnya sudah memenangkan proyek, tapi tetap saja pihak Union Pasifik ingin menyabotase proyek yang lain. Kisah kian lucu saat Dalton bersaudara mengira yang di kawal Lucky Luke adalah emas. Padahal Lucky Luke mengawal nitrogliserin milik Union Pasifik. Ternyata urusan uang sogok sudah dimulai pada era ini.

Nitrogliserin merupakan cairan peledak yang diperoleh nitrating gliserol. Sejak 1860-an, telah digunakan sebagai bahan aktif dalam pembuatan bahan peledak, khususnya dinamit, dan digunakan dalam konstruksi serta pembongkaran industri. Sejak 1880-an, telah digunakan oleh militer sebagai bahan aktif, dan gelatinizer untuk nitroselulosa, Selain itu juga merupakan salah satu obat tertua dan paling berguna untuk mengobati penyakit jantung serta digunakan untuk membantu menghancurkan kanker prostat

Beberapa adegan kocok dengan sindiran halus bisa membawa saya tertawa lepas.
Ampiun dehhhhh ada kuda yang bisa mengikat manusia, ada kepala stasiun kereta api yang selalu sial.
Tokoh pengusaha jasa pemakaman sepertinya selalu ada dimana-mana ya..
