Sacred Sounds: Transformation Through Music and Word

Rate this book
In virtually every system of spirituality the world has ever known, sound has been considered a direct link between humanity and the divine. The ancient mystery schools all taught their students the use of sound as a creative and healing force.

Now, Sacred Sounds by Ted Andrews reveals how to tap into the magical and healing aspects of voice, resonance, and music. On a physical level, these techniques can be used to alleviate aches and pains, lower blood pressure, and balance hyperactivity in children. On a metaphysical level, they can be used to induce altered states of consciousness, open new levels of awareness, stimulate intuition, and increase creativity.

Sounds can heal through their vibratory energy. To understand how this works you need to understand the power of vibratory energies within your body. This book will teach you about the chakras and how energy flows through them. You'll see what happens if that energy is blocked and learn how sound can be used to free the energy, a practice that can result in healing the physical body.

To be even more specific, you'll learn the secrets of esoteric toning, healing method that involves vibrating certain vowel sounds. You will discover that each vowel has different pronunciations and different purposes. Thus, if you pronounce the vowel "a" as in "hay," you can help with problems of the chest and circulation. If you pronounce it as in "cat," you can heal respiration and mouth problems. And if you pronounce it as in "saw," it can aid digestive problems. All of this and more is fully explained in Sacred Sounds.

Perhaps the most famous users of sound were the bards. In Sacred Sounds you will learn their history, lore, training methods, healing techniques, and more.

In short, when it comes to using sound for magical and spiritual purposes, Sacred Sounds should be your key text. Get it today.

Ted Andrews was an internationally recognized author, storyteller, teacher, and mystic. Ted was a worldwide acclaimed speaker and teacher. He presented sold-out seminars to thousands of people throughout the US and Canada every year, and his appearances were just as popular and in demand in the United Kingdom, Europe and parts of Asia. In May 2002 he was specially invited to speak to the UNSRC at the United Nations in New York for his writings and work with animals.

This award-winning and best-selling author was involved in the serious study of the esoteric and occult for more than 40 years, and he brought to the field an extensive formal and informal education. Called a true Renaissance man, Ted was trained in music, playing the piano since the age of 12. He composed, performed and produced the music for ten audiocassettes. He could even scratch out a tune or two on the violin/fiddle. He was a longtime student of sacred dance, ballet and Kung Fu. Ted was also schooled in a variety of related holistic healing modalities, including music therapy, herbology, hypnotherapy, acupressure and other alternative techniques. A clairvoyant since childhood, he was also a certified spiritualist medium for nearly 30 years.

Probably best known for his work with animals, Ted held state and federal permits to work with birds of prey. He performed wildlife rescue and worked in wildlife rehabilitation and education. He conducted animal education and storytelling programs with his animals in school classrooms throughout the year, giving freely of his own time and expense to help young people discover the wonder of animals and nature. In his spare time, he enjoyed hanging out with his menagerie of animals, training and playing with his horses and ballroom dancing.

This book explores sacred sounds and vibrations as a way to meditate, understand, and become more connected with the cosmic ideal. It is a Kabbalistic approach. I found the author to be very informed, and professional.

Ted Andrews provides an excellent reference for using sound in healing practice. This is the first book I have read which addresses the Bardic Healing tradition at any length as well as some of the Jewish Occult tradition and helps tie together some occult knowledge and science to bring us an excellent compendium on using sound in a healing manner. A thorough review of tradition, coupled with some excellent exercises offer an excellent journey for one to explore sound healer in a more spiritual manner. The book introduces several astrological and eastern correspondences (Chakras) and provides an in depth look into using sacred sound, specifically the voice in a healing practice.

I highly recommend this book to spiritual seekers as well as to anyone interested in exploring music or sound as a healing modality.

A book that prompted me on my way, but the lack of proper citation and sources bogged me. If fascinating claims are made, I like to follow them up, but this is impossible if the author doesn't cite his sources at all. It provides good, basic information though and if you're new to the field or are fascinated with the bardic tradition it might be a nice introduction.

This book connects nicely the dots between sound, spirituality and the word. All equally dynamic domains that can influence one's psyche to a major degree.
It offers good information on musical scales by elucidating its effects and correspondences on the different energy centres of a human being and how these can be affected.
I recommend this book to anyone who has a keen interest in music and story making. It also contains certain very interesting pictures and diagrams that facilitate a better and more whole understanding of the knowledge shared therein.
