As a contributor to the Latino Soul book, I will admit that my 5 star review is not very objective. I love all of the stories. They are inspirational, touching, heartwarming, and beautiful. I believe in this project as a way of sharing nuestra cultural con nuestra communidad. We are a community of love, honor, respect and family. We love, laugh, cry, sing and dance as we embrace all of what life has to offer. We dream dreams of a better world, supporting each other, and believing in the essential goodness of mankind.

As an educator, my 5 star review is not as biased, but based on years of experience teaching writing to children and adults. These stories inspire everyone to try to tell their own story and to share a part of themselves with the world. They show us the healing magic of the printed word and how we can make difference in our lives and in the lives of others. I find that these stories are a powerful way to help others be inspired to tell their own stories and to share a part of themselves with all of us. I applaud and thank the 3 editors for their foresight, dedication and commitment to la communidad Latina.

This book is about how some of us who are latinos should be proud of being latinos. You will learn how others struggle with their race for example some were discrminated but they knew to not be ashamed.Others wanted to be angolos because they were treated differently. Many others were hit in school or charged by the fact that they spoke spanished in class. It didn't seem right but that is what others did to try to get rid of our culture and they still want latinos to feel less then others. As latinos we have to fight for our rights and that is what we are doing.Kids that edit their stories are proud of this culture and that is why they have this book.To show how they were proud of being latinos.

I will recomend this book to those who think that being Latinos is something bad.We should not be afraid of others we shouldn't be ashamed of the culture that you are.Not only Latinos go through this but others that feel that they belong because of their culture.Once you realize what others have done to different culuters you will feel glad of what they did.Never feel ashamed of your background or culture.

This was the first novel I read from the Chicken Soup series & I gained a lot for a jumpstart. Because of this novel, I learned to embrace & appreciate other razas within the Latino culture better than I did before; I've just become more open to diversity, period. Thus, this book celebrates Latino spirit in all aspects whether it's through joys or pains, accomplishments or failures, and so on, overall it comes to showcase the literary talents coming from the raza as these writers express their personal stories. Whether you're not a Latino, you'll be able to relate to the themes, so I recommend you readers to check this one out!

My friend, Maria Luisa Salcines, has two of her short stories in this book. This has been my favorite of all the Chicken Soup books. The stories that I enjoyed most were "On Teaching," "Not Mexican?" and "The Clinic."
